http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/.../story-e6freonf-1226302392420?from=public_rss Any man who would stoop so low as to use such an occasion to air his opinion of a past leader does not deserve the right to apply for that position. No matter which side of the fence you sit on
I don't see any difference between what Abbott just did and what that lying troll queen did, but you want to kiss her fat arse.
I really think that was the wrong time to have a dig at a previous PM. He is totally entitled to his opinion on Whitlam but you have to cut someone some slack after someone very close to them dies. I could just imagine how Abbott would act if Gillard did something like that. Really poor form by Abbott.
My view on that has been constitent since he became opposition leader. A massive no. Malcolm Turnbull on the other hand proved with his speech that he is a man of great character and a man that would be a worthy candidate for our highest office.
"There was a lot wrong with the Whitlam government but nevertheless it was a very significant episode in our history and Margaret Whitlam was a very significant element in the political success of Gough Whitlam." Is that it? Is this what all the fuss is about?
Abott just doesn't know when and where to open his trap. The man is a nincompoop at the best of times.
I will apply it to another situation that is current. Jim Stynes just died and imagine while someone was sending condolences took a dig at his footy skills. The situation is different but they are still quite similar. People are entitled to their opinions on everything and everyone but there are proper and improper times to voice them and Abbott picked the wrong time.
I particularly like how he says "Margaret Whitlam was a very significant element in the political success of Gough Whitlam", just after he trashed the Whitlam government. So she was a significant element of the success of a government that had a lot wrong with it... Classy Tony, Classy! See him laughing about Palmer today? What an idiot. God Australian politics is depressing.
Margaret Whitlam was a CIA operative whose sole purpose was to stop Clive Palmer from getting more pies.
So, it is bad form for Big Tony to have a dig at Gough's government on the occassion of his wifes death but it is OK for you to make jokes about the dead woman???!!! For God's sake, wake up to yourself!!
Neither should Abbott, I mean this is just the tip of the iceberg. I wonder was it a written speech, because if it was not written it could be a lie. Hmm, if Abbott wrote down a lie would it become truth, oh the questions, I'll never get to sleep...
And of course - I never said it was bad form for Big Tony to have a dig at Gough's government on the occassion of his wifes death. It is simply what we expect of Tony. Every time he opens his mouth - he tries to make it a 5 second sound bite. Anytime. Anywhere. I am surprised that he did not suggest that Margaret Whitlam's coffin lid be nailed down with GREAT BIG TACKS.
You never know next what s**** is going to come out of his mouth next. Do we want that as a PM, or even as the only alternative?
If Jim Stymes`s cross country basketball skills had been comparable to Gough`s political sense, Jim Stymes would still be playing for the Moone Ponds Under Sevens.
Did you notice cringeworthy Kevin, preaching to the world, or have you ever suffered the embarrasment of watching Julia Gillard represent Australia?
You were clearly being far, far more disrespectfull to Margaret Whitlam with your infantile 'joke' than anything Tony Abbott has said. It is your own abysmal comprehension skills that are on display here. But tell us, what has Clive Palmer got to do with this thread?
Liberals will not get elected with Tony at the head - the only reason they came even close was because of the mess the Labor party made of the election. A lot of voters will put in an ABBA vote - Anybody But Bloody Abbott!!!
