Here we are on the verge of yet another national powder-keg over an incident involving the shooting of a Black young man by an Hispanic who has been falsely labeled by the media as White. And why is that?

First of all, the media is playing this up for ratings and the politically correct stance of racial oversensitivity. I heard this mentioned on the TV news that it was CNN that first labeled George Zimmerman as "White". It seems the media had to even make this man "White" or "White Hispanic" to make the scenario work. Informed people know how the media works and may take a cautious view of all the hoopla, but the general public buys it hook line and sinker. But enough about that case. That's not the reason for this thread.
For more on that subject, see this thread: Jumping To Conclusions: The Media Blows It Again

There's something I want to discuss that goes more to the heart of the situation, and even more so to the very heart of race relations as they exist today.

    Black hatred of Whites.

How did we get here and where are we going?

The election of Barack Obama as the first Black president was an historical event. He couldn't have been elected if Whites hadn't voted for him in great numbers. There were myriad reasons they voted for him. Many Whites voted for him because they wanted to believe in his message. Many voted for them because they're democrats. Many voted for him because they believed it was time for a Black man to have a seat in the nation's highest office. And many voted for him out of political correctness.

And yet his record while in office has been at the least, controversial. He greatly increased regulations, used executive orders in ways that were deemed improper, inhibited oil drilling, promoted his green agenda at the expense of taxpayers, bailed out banks and GM; the latter at the direct expense of the bondholders, and pushed a healthcare bill that the majority of the public didn't want. Some would say he's abused his powers, circumvented Congress and expanded the power of government well beyond what the Constitution allows.

But there's something else he's done. He has injected himself into racial matters fanning the flames of discontent. For example, the Crawley-Gates incident. He said "I don’t know – not having been there and not seeing all the facts – what role race played in that, but I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two that he Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home,". That well may be a valid point, but should he have commented on it? His handlers were alarmed and it backfired on him PR-wise.
And there have been other times he's injected himself in local matters that he inflamed racial tension. It's not presidential, dignified, or appropriate to comment on local matters. Some say he did it for political gain, some say he did it because of personal bias.

Now, I'm not blaming him for the entire mess we find ourselves in over race relations. Not at all. By far Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have been front and center pouring gas on the smoldering embers of racial tension. They've created a tinderbox of racial tension over the decades by making a living on racial tension. They've promoted a separateness between Blacks and Whites that further divided us. Jesse Jackson himself was instrumental in fostering this divide by coining the term "African American".
Farrakhan and the New Black Panther Party, and Rev. Wright have also been involved with inflaming racial tension. Some of them have called for riots or violence, even a bounty.

They are not solely responsible either. The democrat party has promoted a victim-hood mentality that has been ingrained in Blacks - to get their votes. Decades of pandering for votes has engrained victim-hood and entitlement mentality in Blacks. Some would say social welfare programs institutionalized dependency on govt.

Is it any wonder that we can talk about the "third rail" of politics - social security, and still we cannot talk about race without people becoming enraged? How much more divisiveness can we all handle? What is the breaking point?

Liberals, YOU are part of this too. Calling another poster "racist" at the drop of a hat IS part of this problem. You also have a responsibility to stop fanning the flames of racial divisiveness. Yes, sometimes people on this site DO say racist things, but calling them racist so easily in order to pwn someone IS part of this problem. It is, and you know it. It coarsens us and divides us further. It creates divisiveness among Whites, further dividing us ALL.

I can only speak for myself about resentment, but I am surely not alone. I've never acted out against any Black person. I've never been mean to a Black person in any way. I've been cordial and kind to everyone just the same. I'll open a store door for someone coming in or out - doesn't matter who they are, it's just good manners. I like to chat with people I meet; anyone and everyone. I'm friendly and outgoing. I genuinely like people. People who look mean or unfriendly, I just pass on by and ignore them.

Yes I see stereotypical people, White trash, Black thug types. Pants-on-the-ground. People with terrible grammar. People who play their music too loud in their car. People cussing. People littering. Some are Black, some are White. Some are Hispanic.
I see a younger Black generation from teens to late twenties who seem consumed by trying to fit in and be like each other. Emulating a gansta culture. It's to the point that it seems like if they don't fit this mold, they'll be seen as "uncool" by their peers and be ostracized or targeted for not fitting in; not going along with the popular gansta culture.
Even Obama fell into that cultural stereotype, with the singing thing that administration insiders say was an attempt to get his "coolness" back in the public persception. Is that a good role model? Is that what a president should be doing? Taking voice coaching lessons to sing in a seemingly spontaneous, but planned moment to look cool?

Honestly, and no one wants to talk about it, but many White people have come to resent being blamed for slavery. We didn't live then. Our parents and grandparents didn't either. Thing are very different now. White people are becoming more resentful of being called racist when they're not. And THIS is further dividing us.

The Civil Rights legislation of 1964 and later the Voting Rights Act of 1965 went a long way correct injustices done to Blacks in the past. Interracial marriage is no longer illegal (it never should have been). Blacks have racial set-asides, preferences, a Congressional Black caucus, Affirmative Action, United Negro College fund, and many other programs designed to help. None of these changes could have come about without the desire and effort of White people to make them happen. It's what White people wanted.

The vast majority of American citizens wanted these positive changes for Blacks. Blacks are Americans. Always have been and always will be. We're all citizens of this country together.

But this constant blaming of White for the problems of Blacks is counterproductive to us all getting along with each other. Is that helping anyone? No, it's only making things worse. We are all Americans and we ALL need to make an effort to stop agitating each other. It doesn't help end racism. It doesn't help anyone.

Perhaps the best post explaining the current 'Blame Whitey' phenomenom that I've seen on this forum. A couple of other liberal exercises to promulgate racial unrest is when they call the Tea Partiers racists, and of course the white liberal guilt trip in thinking that we whites are keeping the black man down or oppressed--even in this 21st century of entitlements, affirmative action, quotas and the election of a semi black man to the highest office in the land. Well thought out and factually correct, Trinnity. Good job.

Maybe if the whites never brought the blacks here as slaves we wouldn't have this issue.

    Other countries don't.

Actually, the belief that Zimmerman was white was based on the original police report which stated that Zimmerman was a white male.

Excellent post, Trinn. Of course, the whitey-haters (& whitey-guilters) will disagree... but you're absolutely correct. Fact is, blacks have nothing to gain and everything to lose by hating whitey. Some blacks are their own worst enemies. Especially when you consider black power proponents make up such a tiny % of our population. Not very smart, are they?

    USA QuickFacts:

    White persons, percent, 2010 (a) 72.4%

    Black persons, percent, 2010 (a) 12.6%

American Indian and Alaska Native persons, percent, 2010 (a) 0.9%

    Asian persons, percent, 2010 (a) 4.8%

Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, percent, 2010 (a) 0.2%

Persons reporting two or more races, percent, 2010 2.9%

Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin, percent, 2010 (b) 16.3%

White persons not Hispanic, percent, 2010 63.7%

Maybe if the Democrats weren't screaming racism at the drop of a hat we wouldn't be "setting on a powder keg", as Trinnity put it. When the left isn't stirring up (*)(*)(*)(*) between classes, their doing it between races (or any other divisive expedient they can come up with). Fukn lowlife troublemakers!

People let their emotions run wild, and don't stop to think of the reaction they're causing.
If we can't talk about race, we're hopeless. Has anyone else broached this topic here lately? People are afraid to talk about this. I'm not. We have to talk about these things.

You don't fight racism with more racism. And black racism against whites is the most prominent form of bigotry in America today. It is so prominent that it is not even condemned anymore. It is openly tolerated and, in fact, utilized for profit. Black comics, rappers, and entertainers are almost expected to make racist public statements against white people. And the interesting thing is that white people no longer react to them. They have been trained to believe that they deserve to be treated that way because they are horrible people who must pay back some kind of debt that their ancestors racked up against the ancestors of the black racists of today. These fools mistakenly believe that if you just acquiesce to everything and give these angry black racists whatever they want, they will eventually grow to like you. It's like giving your lunch money to a bully and hoping he will eventually stop beating you up. All you are doing by lying down and making yourself a doormat is making him disrespect you that much more. Because now he also sees you as a spineless coward. The more you give, the more he will take. This is why the kid that doesn't want to fight is always the one that leaves the playground with a black eye. Because bullies target the weak. And so as hard as this might be for the sensitive little PC white guilters to accept, if you want to end race problems in America, the only way it can ever happen is by standing up, pushing back, and saying, "Enough is enough."

ALL RACISM IS RACISM. END BLACK RACISM NOW.

And that is well and good, with a bit of an exception.

I think your post is in no position to cry about blaming whites, as you have posted plenty blaming blacks.

    I response to your OP:

It is easy to hate and life is hard. When life throws lemons at someone, their first inclination is to find someone to blame. Yes, the black race was treated badly by whites at one point in our history. Yes, there is still racism in the US, however, it is not as prevalent as a lot of people would like others to believe.

A lot of blacks are quick to blame the whites, because it is the easiest choice....it is not necessarily the right choice, but it is the easiest choice. Compound the issue with the introduction of those that profit from racism like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Spike Lee and you have a recipe to keep racism alive and well.

Eventually, racism will die off or, more accurately, be bred out. Interracial marriages are become more common. The younger generation are experiencing a narrower "culture gap" and are more accepting of those that are different. I just hope that racism dies off soon enough before it rips this country apart.

What I find ironic is that it seems like we have seen more racism since we elected our first black President than we have seen in the past 20 years. We took a giant step forward, just to take two steps back....and all the time, the media is fanning the flames.

It would be nice to see us, as a society, get to the point where we do not perceive every little black/white interaction as being racist. I personally would like to see it, however, I fear that it will not happen until after I am long gone from this planet.

IMO, Obama, and his admin have played the race card now and then. Holder too. It fans the flames of divisiveness. I think things were much better, and then the scab got ripped off, and for what? Political gain.

I feel pretty confident that this case has shaken a few from their slumber.

I think the race baitors have been too zealous and over stepped their bounds this time around. The sheer volume of attention this case has received is evidence enough.

Chicken or the egg. I have plenty of black friends and there is no hate. I never get hate even when I wear my leather.

The Gubemint, media, race baiters (like Jackson and Sharpton {I got some respect for Farrakhan because he does not hide his hatred behind Jesus or God}) and strong lefties are the issue and they cause the hard right to react. It is how they stay in power.

I have seen children of all races play together but as they grow culture sets in.
