I just want to make sure that I understand economic progressivism:

The goal of economic progressives is to provide:

Unlimited Lifetime Health Care to every man, woman and child that exists within the borders of the USA.

A Free College Education to every man, woman or child that exists within the borders of the USA who wants one.

A middle class quality of life pension for every man and woman over 65.

A Government run and subsidized green energy industry

    An entirely new train infrastructure.

And all of this.. all of it.. is to be paid for by the top 25% of income earning households in America, as if they can afford all this largesse?

    I have just one response:

I mean really. How are a mere 25% of the households in America going to support this massive apparatus, without them being reduced to a mere middle class quality of life?

    No, you're constructing a strawman, that's all.

That would be pretty cool, but I don't know if we can pay for that.

Or maybe we could, but I don't think we will.

    Bull (*)(*)(*)(*)!

Ask the question: How are we supposed to pay for all these social programs?

and the answer ALWAYS is.. Tax the Rich.

So the working classes want the social safety net of Europe, but only expects "the rich"(top 25% of all households) to pay for it!

So please explain to me how we can have all these social programs and pay for them, and only tax the rich?

Taxing the rich is a good idea, why shouldn't they be taxed? Shouldn't they pay taxes like everyone else?

Oh gee, it's just breaking my heart! "Waa! Waa! I'm rich and I can't afford to pay taxes!"

If it's so easy to be poor, why not join them instead?

This isn't about taxes. This is about a delusion that all of the social safety programs of Social Democracy can be had only by taxing the rich.

No it isn't. It's a big, fat strawman and you're having problems keeping the stuffing in it. Social service programmes are produced from taxes. Taxes are paid by all (generally speaking) who have an income. Therefore the rich pay taxes (or they should at least) as do average wage earners. Clearly those programmes are not funded by taxing the rich, they're funded by taxing everyone.

Watch where you step there, straw's leaking out everywhere.

Jebus Christ @ the greedy, envious commies in this thread..... thinking they should have rights to another persons earnings, and begrudging and mocking them because they won't willingly hand it over to their parental replacement, Big Papa Fed.

I'm sickened by what government schools have done to this country.

But 50% of the nation pays no income tax. So that is an outright lie.

    Social Security/Medicare taxes don't count.

You're picking the wrong fight with the wrong person.

If you'd been paying attention I've said that taxes need to be raised on EVERYONE and spending needs to be cut, especially defense spending with those monies moved toward infrastructure so we can have the kind of transportation, energy, and communications systems that will make the choice to manufacture and produce in the US obvious.

    Uhhh yes they do.

    Or

Then investment income doesn't count. In that case Willard paid a rate of approximately 0%.

You demand that we count medicare and social security as "entitlements" but we can't count the taxes people pay for them as taxes?

I'll go back to my original comment.

    No, you don't understand.

    Big surprise!

Why don't you stop being a heartless social bigot?

That is much worse than wanting rich pay more. A heartless social bigot is condemning people to death. It is being inhuman, as you said, heartless. That is truely heartless.

Not looking for more justice in the world. That is not being heartless in any way.

And yes everybody should have a good life and should have healthcare. Only psicopaths would not care about it.

Progressives are big government liberals. You don't have to work or worry, the government will take care of you by stealing from others, something you cannot do yourself or you would go to jail. In other words, legislation to bypass decent behavior.

SS/Payroll Taxes are forced, but the beneficiary of the programs are those paying the tax, WITH what the employer has paid. In my case that amounted to about 60K$ paid in and after 10 years of SS payments, have now recieved about 135K$, thank you very much.

Generally speaking all invested monies come from wages earned, taxed at the persons rate after deductions. Romney and many people, not all wealthy, have been paying the 15% earned income which for more than a few is all the taxes they have ever paid.

If you want to add fairness, suppose that's your point, you should consider removing all the deductions for dependents, which is counter productive to you very argument. This would put half the tax filers back into paying "income tax" and the rest would be added, if you take interest paid, off the table.

    I should be what?

I'm not sure what you're implying.....

That I should be disappointed government schools didn't indoctrinate to mock and begrudge others for their success and property....or indoctrinate me to fundamentally misunderstand the purpose of government when I went through?

That I should be thankful to have been raised by moral human beings instead of scavanging, plotting Hyenas?

If you have something to say... say it, sport.
