    I am not surprised.

The whites will only act out more as their country turns brown.

My company is a member of a wide International organization, about 60 countries are also members in that organization and all work and share knowledge with each other, when a company from Iran wanted to join and form the Iranian board I remember that the US Representative said he needs to check if his country doesnt limit his board to work with an Iranian company since he knows its not allowed to share technologies with them.
I assume Apple products are considered the latest tech up to date so i guess they work under the same limitations,

    - At the end the Iranian board was created and the US board had no problems to work with it,

It sucks when individuals get hurt from state policies, just a question, what service do you think an American would get in Iran?

Its an odd way to interpret a law. Just because your not allowed to deal with Iran the country, or take tech there, doesn't mean you should be able to not sell to American Citizens, even if they speak an Iranian Language.

Its the law, in general exchanging technologies or knowledge with an enemy country or a country that can trade it with your enemy is forbidden, I can see how citizenship changes how an individual is regarded but if that person is not a citizen then what do you expect? a 20 year old retailer to decide on spot if a person might be a security risk or not? laws cannot be interpreted by individuals.

No kidding... Besides, if someone is already here, it's not like they couldn't just swipe an Ipad if corporate espionage is their goal.

I'd say Apple is definitely misinterpreting this law.

With such geniuses selling those things, why bother buying one?

Think of all the money they save by not buying the thing.

Ok, so Apple is the one who's highlighted, but I think the OP needed to do some investigating before going after one company, like Apple.

    Ok, so here is Apple...
    Oh wait, now here's Microsoft

Then I thought, well if Apple and Microsoft are doing it, is there maybe a PC company too...

    Here's Dell
Hmm, think there might be more to this, than meets the eye....
Maybe they caught this man explaining it to them, maybe not... I didn't hear the employee say it on the recording, even though they claim he did, but what they did show, I was able to not only verify, but found other companies with the same issue...

Are you sure you aren't just trying to pre-empt this story before it gets too well broadcast. And we all know that this isn't the first time the left has pulled this stuff. We always have some entertainment type running their mouths acting like they are all that and a bag of chips with they political knowledge.

Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple or as some people call it, The Coloh People, refuses to allow her book to be translated into hebrew citing Israeli Apartheid like the brain dead leftloon she is.

I believe Iran can EASILY acquire examples of the CONSUMER PRODUCTS.

The United States is not depriving Iran of technology examples (flying a drone into Iran)... The United States is depriving the children of Iran ADMIRATION OF THE USA'S FINE TECHNOLOGIES.

However it is an open question at how many manufacturing innovations are pioneered by the USA or by the CHINESE and KOREAN who actually make these devices.

It is possible that the Retina Screen technologies are only possible due to Asian screen manufacturer's innovations and manufacturing experience.

They sell Ipads to cubans all the time. Maybe they should be fined. It would follow their interpetation of these types of laws.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. They will get their Farsi products. It takes awhile to load all the malicious software and viral suites. The Dutch didn't infect all those blankets with smallpox for the Indians of Nieuw Amsterdam in a day, you know?

The real joke is that Iranians can buy the ipad no problem in Iran.

American citizens can't in the USA.

What does that tell you

It has nothing to do with the tablet, OR with export restrictions.

It is about an American Citizen who lives in America being denied purchase of an item which is clearly not going over boarders. This person buying the product would not be committing a crime.

It is the equivalent of refusing to serve blacks.

I don't know why you can promote your entire country to turn brown, but you cannot let a Persian girl have her iPad.

Do not punish HER for the American Embassy hostage taking, "Death to America" Political fervor, Olympic Games hostage taking, or threat of annihilation to Israel.

You are only giving legitimacy to hatred against America.

Let this girl have her iPad.

Apple isn't a government owned company. They are under no obligation to sell to anybody and they can discriminate if they want to. The Bill of Right applies to relation between the state and it's citizen. It as nothing to do with how private entity conduct themselves. And before you bring up the civil right in the south canard, those restriction that the black suffered were in fact imposed by the States and not by the individual business. The Jim Crows law for exemple, or the one against interracial marriages.

But it is perfectly legal for someone to refuse to sell you something or to perform any services, as long as it doesn't goes against a legislation, like refusing to perform life saving emergency care in an hospital. Lat time I check, there isn't a law against refusing to sell iPad or MacBook Pro to Farsi speaking person. And even then, there isn't either a mention of language in the bill of right either.

I didn't know any of this.

Also... I don't have a problem with it, really.

In this situation however, don't you think it is fomenting isolation of the American Persian community...... Or do you think it is helping matters?

The United States is highly vulnerable to interior deterioration from disgruntled nation groups.

I think Americans are among the most frightened populace in the world, due in no small part to the fact that we haven't known war on our own soil in living memory. We want security, and we'll take it over liberty. Our own government and its idiotic foreign policies, plus a great deal of ignorance about the world beyond our shores, have us scared of the outside world. As they say, people fear what they don't understand.

Of course, few Americans will admit this, if indeed they even realise it. Perhaps we also share the fear of the dictator who fears the people he oppresses, because we must also know that we as a nation are responsible for others being harmed and killed, and so we must know that we might be attacked over it. Certainly a few of us at least must realise this, though others will deny that as well, same as they do regarding 9/11. We're fed propaganda about liberating others and defending freedom, yet look at our allies: nations such as China and Saudi Arabia, where freedoms are far more restricted. We're not liberators, but conquerors and world police. I think we did all right back in the two world wars, when we did help stop a couple of nasty regimes in their tracks, though even then we had partnered with another nasty dictator and his murderous regime to do it.

So, what have we got in the US today? Blind fear of dark skinned people as well as a warped worldview and self-image.

You gotta understand Apple's history, they grew up a battered child. In the early years, McDonald's filed suit against hundreds of Apple partners with "mac" in their company or product name. Apple had to get legally involved and it was ugly. The Beatles content was originally owned by a company named Apple Corps. They sued Apple three times to take the Apple trademark. First when they appeared on the scene, again when they put CD-ROMs in their computers, and again with iTunes.

Obviously there's the issue with Microsoft 'borrowing' the look and feel of the Mac OS. Apple developed the first personal computer that cracked the 'supercomputer' barrier and therefore ran afoul the U.S. export restrictions. Remember that Apple commercial with the tanks surrounding the G4? It was a PR response to the U.S. government trying to prevent them from selling the computer outside the U.S. The issue had repercussions on the portable market as well. Would you buy an Apple computer if you couldn't take it to Europe, but could take a PC laptop? It was a nightmare.

Carl Sagan even sued Apple three times because developers had internally code named the PowerMac 7100 Sagan. Apple had to change hundreds of internal documents to remove the name Sagan and replace it with BHA. (Some have speculated BHA stood for butt-head astronomer.)

Look at all the international suits now over iPad and iPhone trademarks and patents. Apple lawyers are working non-stop and dealing with them.

Yes, Apple is probably being overly cautious here. But I imagine this policy is not unlike the way a battered child might act if you raised your hand near them -- and overreaction, but a reflexive and fearful one.
