Former police officer wanted for sex crimes now on TBI's Most Wanted list



The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has put the former LaFollette Police officer wanted for internet sex crimes on its Top 10 Most Wanted List.

Michael Shane Baker is described as a bald, white male with blue eyes. He is 5'11" and weighs approximately 220 lbs. He is a former police officer and may be armed. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Authorities are looking for a former LaFollette Police officer who is accused of having inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old girl from Georgia.

A Campbell County grand jury returned a 44 count indictment against Michael Baker, 39, on July 11. He was charged with 22 counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and 22 counts of solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to a press release from the LaFollette Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation contacted them several months ago about the allegations against Baker. LPD notified the Knoxville Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Division to assist in the investigation. The investigatin determined that the crimes were committed between August 2011 and December 2011 in Campbell County

Baker is believed to be living in the New Tazewell area of Claiborne County, but so far, authorities have not been able to locate him to arrest him.

Taylon Bain, a former Glendive and Malta police officer who once ran for Dawson County Sheriff, has been arrested on child molestation charges.

Bain, 27, faces four counts of sexual intercourse without consent, two counts of sexual abuse of children, and one count of solicitation of tampering with physical evidence, all felonies.

Bain appeared in Dawson County Justice Court on Tuesday and was bound over to District Court.

The arrest was the culmination of at least two years of investigation.

The charging documents identify four female victims between the ages of 13 and 16 between 2004 through 2009.

The documents allege that Bain saved pictures of his alleged victims on his computer and phone.

They say that reportedly met the girls through community groups he was involved in including two through 4-H, one through a dance class, and one through Special Olympics.

Bob Norbie, the president and CEO of Special Olympics Montana, said, "We are deeply saddened to learn that Taylon Bain has been charged with violating an underage volunteer of Special Olympics and others in the Glendive community. As a volunteer, Mr. Bain passed all required volunteer registration and screening processes. Although we have not been contacted by the authorities, Special Olympics will do anything it can to support the investigation into these serious allegations."

Since leaving law enforcement several years ago Bain has worked as DJ and sound man and for oilfield service companies.

Bain is now held in the Dawson County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bond.

Court records involving another possible suspect are sealed.

BELLEFONTE, Pa. - Jerry Sandusky's youngest adopted son stepped forward Thursday and said he, too, had been molested by his father.

The allegation was made public hours after a Centre County jury began deliberating the former coach's fate on charges involving 10 other boys.

In a statement from his attorney Andrew Shubin, Matt Sandusky, 33, said he told prosecutors Wednesday that he had been sexually abused by his father and was willing to testify against him.

The experience has been "extremely painful," the statement read. Shubin, who represents two other Sandusky accusers, declined to comment further when reached outside of the Bellefonte courthouse where Jerry Sandusky's case is being tried.

Matt Sandusky was taken in by Jerry Sandusky and his wife, Dorothy, in 1996 when as a boy, then known as Matt Heichel, he set fire to a barn near his biological mother's home. The couple formally adopted him when he turned 18.

In many ways, he matched the profile of many of the young men that have come forward to accuse Jerry Sandusky in his ongoing criminal trial.

Prosecutors allege in that case that the former coach targeted boys from poor, single-parent homes that he met through the Second Mile, the charity for underprivileged youth he founded in 1977.

And like them, Matt Sandusky grew up poor and without a father. He initially met Sandusky through a Second Mile camp when he was 7.

But signs of a troubled relationship between the boy and the Sanduskys emerged early on.

In 1994, police were called to the former coach's residence to investigate allegations of stealing by the youth. Police records referenced in court filings by Jerry Sandusky's defense attorney Joseph Amendola last year say that Matt Sandusky ran away in 1996.

And four months after moving into the Sandusky home, Matt Sandusky attempted suicide.

Into adulthood, he appeared uneasy after talking to his adopted father, Matt Sandusky's ex-wife, Jill Thomas, said last year. She requested that a judge bar Jerry Sandusky from seeing her children with her former husband within days of their grandfather's arrest.

But throughout the former coach's legal ordeal, Matt Sandusky has remained a largely silent figure. He and his biological mother testified before the investigating grand jury last year.

Amendola, Jerry Sandusky's attorney, insisted during a pretrial hearing earlier this year that all of his client's six adopted children would be willing to vouch for his character at his trial. None was called to testify.

Matt Sandusky, however, did not escape the attention of jurors completely. During testimony last week, the man identified in court documents as Victim 4 recalled an incident in which he, as a young boy, showered in Penn State facilities with the man and his father after a game of racquetball.

Jerry Sandusky pumped a handful of soap from a wall dispenser and began wrestling with the boy, he said. Victim 4 told jurors Matt Sandusky shook his head and left the locker room.

You said that I asserted that every gay man messed with 14 year olds. I did not assert that, I asseted that this one did, a fact. Gay parades reveal the true perversions of the gay community. I put 2 and two together. That too is a fact.

 

Maybe, as one poster described, this 14 year old was "intelligent and aware enough at that age" to know what he was doing. That's how they rationalize their attraction to children, at least.
