http://abcnews.go.com/Business/chick-fil-blocked-opening-chicago-store/story?id=16853890#.UBB20JtDbZ4 So a politician has arbitrarily decided to block a private business because of its moral foundation. How is this acceptable? Could a city block a pawn shop because it is owned by a Muslim? Chick-fil-a should sue the city and this politician for violating their freedom of speech.
This is just the kind of government control liberals LOVE. You WILL hold the positions liberals want you to. You WILL shut up if you don't agree. And if not, your permit is denied, you can't open that business, you can't get that contract.
Let them sue; that's what the courts are for. If they prove their case, then so be it. If they win, they'll get a lot of money; if they lose, then they've wasted money on attorney and court costs. Sometimes you gotta roll the dice.
Hilarious. So Chick-Fil-A tells the alderman to shove it and builds it in another alderman's neighborhood. The other alderman gets the tax revenue. Want to play Chicago politics? Tell them to (*)(*)(*)(*) off and build somewhere else.
imagine the roles reversed. A permit denied because the CEO said that he thinks gay marriage is just swell
I love it when prejudiced rich guys think they can do what they want, and spread their hatred, and then they run up against Democracy. I predict Chic will go bankrupt everybody but the loony South.
America is a very repressive and corrupt country. But we do have great propaganda telling everyone how wonderful it is.
This is hypocritical beyond belief, and purely driven by PC nuttery. Chik-fil-a doesn't refuse service or employment oppertunities to homosexuals, therefore they do not discriminate against homosexuals. But the franchise of Chik-fil-a is being discriminated against simply because the president of the company holds a particular view. These PC extremist fail to see that they're only causing more resentment with their illogical opposition.
He should be removed from office. With the recent news about Chick-fil-a I will never go there again, but you cannot deny a business the opportunity to open because you don't like them. Clear abuse of power.
Well...that clinches it. I'm now going to buy stock in Chik-fil-a and will start eating there regularly. They do not discriminate in hiring, they don't discriminate in who can eat there, and they don't discriminate in franchise ownership. They gave $1000 to Exodus, a group I don't like, but that's it... This has gotten out of hand and is completely ridiculous now. (*)(*)(*)(*) it.
Yep, I was weighing not eating there because of some of the donations to Exodus, knowing that some of my money could go to hurting gay people, but this has gotten completely out of hand. They didn't hide how they felt (a lot do) and there are others, Muslim and Orthodox businesses for example who feel the exact same way and do discriminate and they are overlooked. I don't like people finding a whipping boy and then bandwagoning it...I get it, I get it...now quit trying to guilt me into your POV.
I'm not calling them gay. It's a legitimate abbreviation and it's exactly what they are. Should i just use the H word and from now on only homos can use the term homo and worse. I could use worse but i was being genteel by using Homo.
Of course I wouldn't support such, but after this "boycott Chick-fil-a" foolishness, I must admit I'd get a chuckle out of a consortium of philanthropists "boycotting" giving their money to HIV/AIDS research.
I hate trendy boycotts where people get stupid. Whatever happened to the Fr Daniel Berrigans? Death to all Chik-Fil-A eaters! Yes, there's a movement I want to be a part of. From the Chicago Tribune:
