Ron Paul: 'I Don't Fully Endorse' Mitt Romney The Huffington Post | By Mollie Reilly | 08/26/2012 4:25 pm Excerpts: In an interview with New york Times, Ron Paul has been in conversation with the republican national convention organizers in which they offered him a speaking slot under consitions he couldnt meet. The planners offered the Texas congressman the chance to speak if he met two conditions: that he give a speech pre-approved by Romneys campaign and that he give a full fledged endorsement of Mitt Romney. quote: It wouldnt be my speech," Paul said. "That would undo everything Ive done in the last 30 years. I dont fully endorse him for president." Paul ended his campaign in May but many of his supporters have been hoping that he could gather enough support to challenge Romneys nomination. Seceral hundred delegates are still pledged to Paul. "While they certainly disagree on many issues, they always have had ... a mutual respect," Romney campaign strategist Russ Schriefer told CBS. However, Paul's reluctance to give his rival a ringing endorsement should come as little surprise. In May, Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton told reporters that formal backing was unlikely. quote: I would never say never," he said. "I do not believe that that is likely." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/26/ron-paul-mitt-romney_n_1831779.html#comments\ ....... As I watched Ron Paul during the primaries, I was touched by his honesty, forthrightness when he was given a chance to speak, but he and Jon Huntsman were largely ignored to the point that they made jokes about being down in the corner of the stage. Americans lost a big chance to meet and know the only two totally honest people in the priimaries, and it is a shame that we were not given the opportunity to see if we agree with their agendas. But it was clear from the start that Romney was the pick...he has been training for the presidency for last eight years. If Romney doesnt know it now...he will never know it.
Oh please.....Ron disagrees with every bit of the big all controlling liberal nanny state you promote..... .....if you were touched by anything....it was Ron's occasional bashing of Republicans. . .
Well, the worst part about this is how they stripped him of delegates. The more I look into primaries in both parties, the more it becomes obvious that the game is rigged.
Of course it is, all the duocracy cares about is making sure that one of the two sides of the same coin keeps winning. Everything from campaign finance to having a podium at the debates to media coverage is built around the making sure a D or R wins.
I can imagine the kitty fits if this were happening in the democrat convention. As it is America,Watch the democrats embrace everything evil and perverted.
I think the implication is that only D and R have enough money to buy elections. It would take an awful lot of funds to really shake things out of the 2 party system. Ross Perot came the closest to doing that, but he was a self-made billionaire. About the only person who could do that sort of thing now would probably be Bill Gates.
Oh horsecrap. Ron Paul is a flaming Prima Donna...he would actually accomplish something, is he didn't have his head stuck up his own arse all the time.
First is a chicken/egg problem where special interest groups are more likely to donate to candidates who are likely to win and the candidate that is likely to win is the one who gets lots of money from special interests. Second, because of the change in how you can donate, it's less likely to get a third party because they simply don't have the base to collect lots of smaller donations but could have an impact if donations per person weren't limited. I don't think this is a good idea, but it's part in parcel of what makes US elections tough on third parties.
I can't get to a lot of sites from work, but Stossel did a pretty good piece on the red tape that has been constructed by both main parties to limit the field to only their representative candidates.
Yea, he's such a "fruitcake" that the phony "small government" types like yourself co-opted his grassroots movement and his political rhetoric after the disaster that was Bush soured the entire nation to the RNC's neoconservative insanity.
State Vs Us... is so right, the government goes so far as to beat down the kids at school soi they all grow up like zombies...what a mess.
The neocons gave us George W. Bush and they have the nerve to accuse Ron Paul supporters of being kooks? If it weren't for Ron Paul, these fake small government types wouldn't have any rhetoric to borrow or grassroots political movements to co-opt. They'd be stuck defending their neocon Bush-era policies of nationbuilding and "home ownership"...
Campaign finance is meaningless. Democrats are progressives and Republicans are progressive-lites. The only difference between the two parties is the speed in which they turn America into a Sh!topia.
Which is why discussing the Gold Standard and auditing the Fed is part of the GoP platform now..... Ron Paul had nothing to do with that..... Come on man.
Yep and romney is the same. No difference. He is a neo-con. How ANYBODY who supports and votes for romney while claiming he is a conservative can live with themselves is beyond me. Romneycare. I guess he has changed his ways. What a joke. Romney is not conservative. Obama is not liberal. They are crony-capitalists. The both of them. Bought and paid for. Should it be a surprise that the corporate owned media backs and promotes big govt D and R's while they sling mud on true conservatives, libertarians and liberals.
Thank you, Serfin'. I must have emptied the Greenpoint of all Sangria after that gross injustice. I posted somewhere but am too weary to do it again...a list of all of the delegates who were physically threatened and intimidated because they wished to vote Ron Paul.
Grok...hun...do you ever read your own posts? They are as uncompromising as anything Ron Paul ever said, and a little less artful and gentlemanly (although I expect that of a Tyrannosaur).
Becareful who you hate. It's wise not to get on the bad side of American libertarians....... If you're republican.
Change will come through the transformation of the two parties, or some kind of parliamentary system which will just turn this into a socialist country..... over time. If libertarians don't keep the GOP in check it will just continue to slide more and more to the left, and eventually, both social conservatives and libertarians will have as much political control as my cat.
