Never been to the State of Maine, so at some point I'm going to have to go there...if for no other reason than to say I've seen it.

Get a photo op next to the "Welcome to Maine" sign...it's home to the furthest Eastern point in the Continental U.S. at roughly 66 degrees W longitude

I've never been there either, though, I think the potential for cold weather may deter me...lol

 

I've been to every habitable continent except South America. I've only ever actually lived in Europe and the US though. I will fix this by going to the World Cup and Olympics in Brazil soon. Also Costa Rica would be nice.

I've got mixed feelings about it. I suppose its nice to see the world from many different perspectives though. Travel really informs one's view of the world in the most valuable way.

 

And that's good...

That's the main reason I wanna travel when I retire, so I can learn more about the rest of the world...

 

Only Bangkok unfortunately, was returning home from Aus and arranged a few days stop over. Great city, some amazing things to see.

Next year I plan a months trip back to Asia, Sulawesi in Indonesia and maybe Thailand and Cambodia or Vietnam maybe.

You need to be careful in Thailand, lots of coastal places are overrun with tourists I think.

Indonesia is just WOW!

Yup...

When I went to Thailand, I was in a kind of rural-ish area called (I think) Nakhon Ratchasima, which was laid back and nice...

Then, I ended up in Pattaya for about a week...

Very touristy, and, as I was discussing with Herkdriver a while back, very seedy in places...

 

Well I am not really well travelled but I've travelled to a few countries, in Europe most of them: Portugal, France, Italy, England, Finland(I've had been living there for 1 year), Norway(just the Finmark), Latvia, Lethonia, Estonia and Russia and obviously different cities of Spain and the farest Canarian Islands. Also I've travelled to South America, Brasil.

I would like to visit Canada, Japan, Korea and China of countries outside of Europe, also in that group I would like to see Australia and New Zealand but are too expensive destinations. In Europe I want to visit Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Bulgaria, Eslovaquia and Czech and Austria. And go again to Russia and Finland.

And sorry for Americans but the last country in which I am interested is USA, I don't see any interesting to see there. Some interesting landscape and no more, but that I can find in Canada (Yeah this line is a bit trolling )

 

This post, to me, further reinforces my thoughts that it'd be cool as hell to live in Europe for a bit, because there are so many interesting places to travel to, that are relatively close together...

 

And travelling is really cheap, for example from Barcelona(Spain) to Sofia(Bulgaria) it can cost about 90-100€ a round flight. To London even can be cheaper for 50-60€ you can have a round flight, and also we have the option of Interrail to go by train among different countries, it is really useful for travelling in Center Europe like Germany, Austria, Poland...

When I stayed in Finland I met many exchange students from other continents, USA or Japan and they travelled around whole Europe while they were there because probably they would never have any other better chance.

The trip to Europe is now on my calendar...

Mate it's horses for courses, the main thing is that the world is a stunning place, full of stunning people and during your life you go and see and witness it. Older of younger makes no difference, but I really hope you follow your dreams on this, because the more I see, the more beauty I see and the more of it I want to see!

 

Very near the top of my list - the price of travel is keeping from being no1, but in my life, I will go!

 

This is why I left a good job in Australia (which I loved) to come to mainland Europe - it has not failed in my expectations. Couple of hours drive to Paris, Brussels, north Germany, 2 hrs flights all around nth Europe etc... I've spent so much time in Italy it's unreal, I've been north to south in that country.

The travel advice I give to everyone is this: The last place you ever go to should be Rome, this is the bench mark of all cities (IMHO), 2000 y/o stuff all over the place, too many cities cannot compare and Rome kinda takes the edge off them a little... Saying that, I've been twice and will undoubtedly go again (hopefully for an England v Italy Six Nations game)
