As I sit with no power in Brooklyn, I just wanted to extend a sincere (*)(*)(*)(*) you to everyone blaming this disaster on Obama and Bloomberg. This is the new normal, this is what climate ignorance has wrought, and we'll see how you feel when society is uprooted in your neck of the woods.

Hello from New Jersey. I have spent some time today dressing down these fools who insist on trying to play this catastrophe to score political points. I' m surprised no one has tried to blame it on the Illuminati. The tin hat brigade has really come out of the woodwork on this one. Be safe please, I will be thinking of you.

    Cloak,
This New Jerseyan is with you 100%. I have friends in same position as you , days without power, no heat, hot water etc. The bare essentials we all take so much for granted until we lose them. I heard most of lower manhattan was getting restored today and hopefully Brooklyn is not far behind. Be well and take care.

And to everyone in New York who is sitting in the dark I would like to extend a sincere Ha Ha to you because you elected obama and Bloomberg, you deserve what you are getting.

BTW, I've been in 6 hurricanes with stronger winds than Sandy, and all I can say is whoop-di-do! Big deal, you don't have power. Boo hoo.

We've been listening to democrats blame Bush for Katrina for 7 years or more, like he can do anything to stop a hurricane. Why can't your messiah stop a hurricane better than Bush? Most of the hurricanes (typhoons) I was in I was on an island, and couldn't move inland. Anyone who has a weeks worth of warning and doesn't move inland to high ground deserves the Darwin award for Natural Selection Gene Pool Cleansing Award.

People in New York are not used to fending for themselves, they take it for granted that they can buy anything they want by walking five minutes at any time of the day.

People in other parts of this country are further away from civilization and so they know how to take care of themselves.

If this hurricane had hit Texas, people would not be so helpless and whining to the government for help.

No of course not- Texans wouldn't be so helpless and whining to the government for help......LOL

Governor Rick Perry, who at one point in 2009, said Texas had the right, and increasingly a good cause, to secede from the United States, has made a request for federal assistance to help Texas fight increasingly destructive wildfires.

Perry said: "I urge President Obama to approve our request quickly so Texans can continue receiving the resources and support they need as wildfires reman an ongoing threat."
    ******

AUSTIN — State leaders on Monday accused FEMA of insensitivity and foot-dragging in delivering mobile homes to help residents in hard-hit areas of southeast Texas recover from Hurricane Ike.

The lack of transitional housing has left residents living in tents and cars on their property. And when they complain, FEMA offers them a voucher for a motel room even though none are available in many areas, state officials said Monday at a legislative hearing.

And in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, FEMA is again the easy target for displaced residents and frustrated local authorities.

"Where's FEMA?" some evacuees have asked. Houston Mayor Bill White complained FEMA wasn't bringing ice, water and meals fast enough, while the county administrator personally took over the coordination of efforts to hand out relief supplies

For days, hot, hungry and thirsty victims of Ike's strike have waited hours for handouts and scrounged for fuel. Phone lines were overburdened as evacuees tried, unsuccessfully, to register for help. Others denounced the suggestion to go to a Web site, impossible when they still had no power.

"They're still screwed up. They haven't remedied their problem," said Galveston nurse Reginald Cleveland, one of thousands of evacuees stuck at a shelter in San Antonio. He signed up with FEMA when he checked into the shelter, but then was told to call a number at which no one answered. "I say, put the people out. They obviously don't know what they're doing."

Them rugged individualists in Texas- asking for the Federal government to help them just like those pesky Liberal Nor'easters.

    What a joke.

Considering that you consider half of America Evil and your enemy because they dare to be anything but a rabid conservative- why am I not surprised that you also hate anyone who lives in a big city.

Should I dig up the requests by rural people for assistance?

I happen to think we are all Americans- city folk, rural folk- and there is a place for the Federal Government to help out in a disaster.

Conservatives alternately think that government shouldn't do anything to help and also that the Federal government takes too long to help.

Sorry you have to deal with this whole disaster personally.
I wish you well, and I hope that at least you and your family are all safe.

    Oh Yah???
Then why were you complaining just yesterday that President Obama and Fema had refused to help Texas when Texas experienced disasters?

Which, by the way, were nothing like what the East Coast is experiencing
And which, by the way DID RECEIVE RELIEF from FEMA DUE TO President Obama signing a stage of emergency relief for 53 Counties in Texas

But you know all that, don't you. . .you were told and SHOWN just last night that you were lying. And you're still trying today?

Actually, we believe folk have a personal responsibility to at least do the basics. We also believe the governments role is limited to what it can do, spend money after the mess, and to take political credit if all goes well and to blame God if they screw up..

Maybe a laptop on a battery or a smartphone. Even people without power many times have access right now to somewhere to charge up batteries.

You're kidding, right? The ONLY thing you have to say to this guy (Cloak) is "how are you on the internet with no power?"

You sure are sensitive to people!

Well, dear, have you ever heard of BATTERIES? An I-Pad can function on one fully charge battery for 10 to 14 hours. Any other "sensitive" question?

Yes, I understand that Starbucks was allowing people to charge their batteries, or at least to check e-mails, etc. . .
And, if I am not mistaken, all of Brooklyn is not without power.

I have a friend that lives within a block of the evacuation area and she didn't lose power, at least she had power two day ago.

Yea, how are you on the internet with all power in the city out?

I lived in Florida and been through plenty of hurricanes. We went 4 1/2 weeks without electricity, but we knew we lived in a hurricane area and were prepared. Plenty of food, well for water, gas for the generator, chainsaws, axes. By day 3 we had all the roads open ourselves and debris off the houses, living in the country everyone has tractors and knows how to help themselves and each other. We don't need someone like Bloomberg to tell us how to live and what to do. We never saw FEMA or any other govt (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*). Everyone had private home owners insurance and rebuilt without a dime from the govt.

If you are hurting, thats too bad and I feel for you. But you chose to live in the city, and chose an idiot for a mayor who thought telling you how much soda you were allowed to drink and demanding women breast feed their babies was more important than preparing for a natural disaster.

Because Americans are decent people, we will all help those in need just like we always do whether its our own or Haiti hurricane survivors or Chinese earthquake victims. But don't think thats an excuse for ignoring the stupidity of people and their elected officials who didn't take the time and care to prepare.

All power is not out in NY. Like NJ it is now just certain areas still waiting to be restored. And we appreciate the help from Hooterville.

Liberals started the hate when they accused Bush of "hating black people" when Katrina hit.

Now you get your hate back, with interest.
