Then they need to be an adult and supervise....and they don't need a pet collar.

So you'd like every kid walking everywhere to be escorted by an adult ? That would be an awful lot of adults, in a very crowded school. Better idea would be CCTV cameras monitored by security guards, and hooked into recorders, as is done in thousands of workplaces.

Hell, they're putting RFID chips on shopping carts these days. They activate a brake on the cart when the cart gets too far away from the store. Maybe they can put automatic shackles on the ankles of our kids.

We don't need cameras everywhere OR pet collars. Advocating this ridiculous idea is an indication of the perpetually stupid populous though.

Hey...I think we should have cameras in toilet bowls so we can judge whether or not people are purposely not wiping, making all our butts potentially safer. Inside your car too. Make sure you keep your seatbelt on and you don't give the finger to anybody while driving. Stupid, stupid people......

I'm thinking of the Tyrannical abuse coming from schoolyard bullies who go around assaulting kids and robbing them, and how they could be stopped and/or caught, if the schools would hire security guards using recordable CCTV cameras, in a base security office.

There's 2 kinds of people who would oppose security cameras with recorders, in public places. That would be criminals and idiots.

    Children are not "we".
They cannot care for themselves. They cannot vote. They cannot go to war. They are wards. We pay taxes SPECIFICALLY FOR our schools to keep track of our children. What the (*)(*)(*)(*) are you people talking about?

Elementary school is SO different now than it used to be... children are sat at the local elementary school and you retrieve them with an ID badge. There are ALSO (gasp) cameras. Children WILL NOT be dropped of at bus stops unless there is a parent there to receive them. They take them back to the school and call... and then call CPS.

I am pretty sure, though difficult to quantify, this results in a lot fewer children going missing from elementary schools... and more just resolutions of conflicts... having video. Cuts down on a bit of teacher abuse I am sure as well.

And your argument to this mountain of prevented trauma is... the people who have no rights rights are being violated?

You should explore the core of your values which you believe your positions are propped up on. These are children in the care of the state. This is on purpose.

God...you people are so sick. Cameras, chips and check in times for everybody. Are you people that friggin' lazy to be involved with your own kid's life?? Hey...why not make them wear a camera tied to the internet 24/7? God...there must me government infiltrators in here advocating chips, cameras, and satellite surveilence for everyone. Anything to allow the parent to excuse themselves from the job of parenting. Hey....let's chip parents...with full audio and video. That way, other people can decide if they're good Americans or not. People are stupid...

What the (*)(*)(*)(*) are you talking about? Do you have kids in school? You drop them off and then YOU LEAVE THE CAMPUS!! You don't know where they are on that campus. You hope the school does. Some schools use more tools than others to keep track of kids. How does a parent being involved or not affect whether or not the school can keep track of where the kids are? You can't follow your kid around at school all day to make sure they are safe.

More ridiculous bull(*)(*)(*)(*). How does security cameras at schools relieve the parents of their job of parenting?

Now if you were outraged about serving kids breakfast at school and after school programs so the parents don't have to watch the kids after school, I could see your point. But I don't see the connection between campus security and excusing parents of their responsibility.

That would be a great collateral effect if bullying were curtailed by this. I'm outraged by the attitude of society over the last several decades that bullying is just a part of growing up and it's somehow good for us to learn how to deal with bullies. The truth is, bullies get the upper hand, and it's rare that a bullied kid is successfully able to fight back. I've seen the effects of bullying from kids I've known from school. As adults they are bitter and sullen. This needs to end and it ends simply by enforcing the law. Kids are not immune from prosecution when they commit misdemeanor assault or felony strong-arm robbery. When I was in Jr. High and a bigger kid kept hitting me, the principal put a swift end to it by telling that bully that the next time he touches me, the principal would press charges. That's what needs to happen more often. And if cameras and tracking systems help with that, then all the better.

People that believe they need a camera shoved up their azz 24/7 are either braindead, or they never learned to stop having mommy doing everything for them.

I think every spouse should have a camera with a live feed 24/7. I think I'll put one on my dog too....to monitor potential damaging groundhog activity. Maybe we need one on all aquarium fish too.....to monitor a potentially deadly case of a kid swallowing a fish accidentally. We could make the fish trigger 911 on his way down and potentially eliminate this horrible danger while saving the child's life. RFID's for on McDonalds cups too...to curb potentially dangerous littering and be able to track the offender.

Yeah...we need RFIDs for EVERYONE and EVERYTHING. We need to be "safe" most of all...

Or perhaps you could address the topic of the thread which was using RFID tags among other things TO KEEP CHILDREN SAFE AT SCHOOL.

You still haven't stated why you think it's a bad idea. You just keep coming up with ridiculous bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that isn't even related to the topic of the thread.

It is, as I have noticed, a recognizable pattern.

Children, are neither spouses, nor wild animals. They are, however, incapable of making informed decisions about their safety. This is why, if you do not take care of your kids, you go to jail. They require supervision... and in an area with so many children to be monitored, using electronics to better facilitate that goal while in the custody of the school/state/federal government... nobody in their right mind would be against it.

It is their CHARGE to keep track of CHILDREN who are incapable of caring for themselves. You are just... too detached from people to understand this I fear.

My thoughts exactly. Things change when you're a parent. My 9 year old son is in a private school. And while they don't have electronic monitoring, they have a system of frequent roster checks that would make any prison envious. It was explained to me in detail the layers of supervision and the effort to keep track of the whereabouts of my son at all time. It certainly set my mind at ease that the school I send my child to shares my priority when it comes to his safety. It's a parent thing, I guess.

    Simple solutions:
    1. Don't pay your property taxes until you are assured that your school district isn't into insane communistic control.
    2. Take your kids out of public school. It is a waste of time. The only thing I learned was how to fight after taking many a beating. I really didn't learn reading, writing or arithmetic until after graduating high school.

Seems like a bad idea after reading the OP's link. The kids could create quite a diversion just by switching tags.

Here are some options for you: We have RFID technology you can implant under the surface of your childrens' skin. If they ever show up missing you can detect if they ever travel 2 meters from a RFID reader.

The universal tag will also allow them to be tracked around school, at shopping malls, in restaurants, at train stops, and everywhere that we will sell and set up our RFID technology.

You can rest with peace of mind that every child's movement is being tracked and that somebody else is watching your children for you. You can log into "Find My Child" dot net and see a precise location of your child on a map at any time. A free detector plugs into your wall at home so it will alert you whenever the child comes home.

What we do NOT want is the evil state doing this FOR YOU. If you want to RFID your children we will be very happy to sell the technology to you, but not to the evil state.

"Evil state?" Boy, to hear you, one would think you were talking about space aliens from another planet instead of a government comprised of regular Americans who also have kids of their own and share all the concerns of everyday citizens. Maybe to be part of government, you have to enlist membership to a secret satanic cult so you can take your orders directly from the Prince of Darkness. Then you take your part in the "evil government" on a diabolical mission to keep track of where children are in an elementary school.

There's a storm on the horizon. I smell the sulfer already.

    Hint to students:

A small piece of tin foil will disable an RFID.
