Remember - The STATES can pass a law that would deny the vote to those on welfare

By no means must it be done at the federal level so those who say obama and the democratic senate would never approve are raising a false issue. It can be done on a state by state basis. What are we waiting for?

We're waiting for the monkey to be shoed out of the White House (yes I said that). In case you haven't noticed, the politicized Justice Department has been suing states that attempt to take control of what happens in their state.

 

the very fact that voting is no considered a right in a country that was founded under democratic ideals is a joke. But while we are at it, I say that voting should be stripped from anyone who takes more out of medicare and social security than they put in. Elderly republican voters, I'm talking abiout you.

 

My view is even simpler and easier to enforce. Voting privileges should be based on tax returns. If you paid federal income taxes, you get to vote. If you had no tax liability and the tax refund was equal to or greater than the contribution, then no vote. Saves all the trouble of figuring out who's Democrat or Republican.

 

Agreed, add in photo IDs along with it and its the fairest system imo. Only those that contribute should have the say in where their money is spent.

 

We should also implement a loyalty test, to ensure that all voters will vote for the nations best interests and not other interests. Citizens must prove they have no interest in promoting the values of other nations, of corporations, or of religion. We also need to implement an intelligence test, and a test to ensure that potential voters know what government is, what it does, and the basics of each candidates platform.

Well that or just let everyone vote, as is their right. Felons too btw; all US citizens should have a vote.

I agree with both suggestions: retired, as well as welfare people should NOT vote: old people become like kids, and people who need public assistance should be worried more about themselves than the politics. too bad we are all more interested in fighting and insulting each other, so these will only be our dreams

Americans aren't required to salute presidents except in the extremely unlikely case that President Bush was strolling past me in Ft Bragg when I was stationed there in 2004. Military personnel salute the president. Non military citizens can give the president a completely different kind of salute:
