Christianity, in its highest form, is the only philosophy that makes complete sense. No wonder it is hated and feared more by non-Christians than all other philosophies. That is why American atheists choose to target Christianity instead of Islam.
I heard recently that something like 85% of Americans believe that Jesus had a virgin birth!!!! That's pretty impressive. I think you'll find that those in America who want Christianity to go away are such a tiny minority, it's almost unbelievable. They are however, super-vocal about it.
Apologists lie. Quel Surprise. They're apologists, their job is, per definition, to go out and lie for their religion. I mean, look at Eric Hovind or Ken Ham; they take that job very seriously. "Highest form"? This should be good. *gets popcorn* No, it's because we don't have Islamic faith schools getting government funding, and we don't have the government giving to charities that bring Qur'ans to starving children in Africa, and we don't have a vast Muslim majority, and we don't have an almost complete Muslim domination of government, and... You see where this is going, right?
Christianity endured through hard times for nearly two millennia in Iraq. Not until the Bush regime contrived a trillion dollar invasion and nation-building fiasco did it enter end stage under the state of affairs that the Bush engineered. The last of the community that weathered Saddam Hussein's rule are now trying to make it to Turkey and Lebanon.
With its tendency toward producing happy, content people that for the most part respect authority and are encouraged to submit to the laws and leadership of the land, real Christianity generally produces pretty good citizens. It doesn't make much sense that a nation would intentionally wants to get rid of them and their influence. If I was the tin horn dictator of some repressive cesspool of political bullsh!t, I'd take pains to make sure the Christians were happy. At least I wouldn't have to worry about them fomenting dissent or staging a revolution - as long as I didn't tax them to death.
Oh so right, and one only needs to look at the world where there is the most unrest and the most killing(s) to realize that the Middle East led by a bunch of non Christian islamic radicals is headed for total destruction, and that the obama admin with its lackey followers are in lockstep with the same line of destruction with their immoral beahaviors, policies and actions.
You know, there's nothing saying that you cannot go to Islamia and start your own crusade. Let me know how it goes, eh?
That and they fear retribution from speaking against Islam; it's almost a show of cowardice that they selectively choose their victims of their hatred. Christianity is a softer target.
Fun fact: If you want to survive anywhere in the world, don't be the ethnic/religious group that provides support to brutal dictators against the ethnic/religious majority in the country. When those oppressed majority groups rise up, they will kill you too.

While this is to an extent true, and criticism of Islam is generally milder simply by virtue of there being more Muslims willing to kill you for, say, drawing their prophet smoking a pole (or, in fact, drawing their prophet at all). There's another two factosr in play there as well as far as I can see, though. Firstly, most critics of Islam are very hesitant to go to the same mocking or rude levels that they go to against Christianity in order to distance themselves from the (depressingly large number of) total jerkwads who are not just against Islam in principle, but rather would like to see all muslims, and perhaps all Arabs in general, wiped from the face of the earth. You know the type; the kind that thinks Islam isn't a religion, that most muslims practice a form of "Taqqiya" and therefore you can never trust a Muslim, they're the scum of the earth, et cetera. It's hard to take on a mocking or spiteful tone, even when it is thoroughly appropriate, and not sound like one of them. And as much as I hate Islam on principle, I refuse to be put into the same boat as people like Pat Condell or the Golden Dawn party. Secondly, Islam isn't the dominant religion in the regions most of the criticism is coming from. Christianity is. We don't have an almost 100%-Muslim representation. It isn't all but unthinkable that someone who isn't a Muslim could be elected to higher office. We don't have a huge Muslim super majority. We don't have signs of Muslim holidays decorating every street corner and dictating entire supermarket schedules. Arguing against Christianity (which is not the same thing as "hatred", thank you very much) just makes that much more sense, because if we want to change our country, arguing against Islam would only really touch on a tiny handful of people therein. Seriously. Criticism of your religion is not automatically hate. Cut that (*)(*)(*)(*) out.

Religions come and go. Christianity is currently petering out in Europe and the Middle East, and has been on the upswing lately in Africa and South America. So it goes.
