Guns in car not a good idea. Best for them to just move on somewhere else, or else brown-bag it.

The requirement to carry may be mandated by policy or law. But it is strongest when police are either in a place or about to enter a place that they have, at that time, lawful authority to do so. For police to enter a shop, for example, they are in exactly the same position, legally speaking, as any other person, unless they have explicit authority to be there. That confuses some cops who think they are able to go anywhere at any time. If a police officer is not able to exercise an authority to enter or remain on premises, armed or not, they run the risk of being a trespasser if they refuse to leave when requested. I need to add that's the English common law position, there could be weird laws in some States in the US on this.

And I do think the cops are being a bit precious. Soak it up and move along princesses and htfu while you're at it.

You may actually be correct if we view this from a very narrow technical view of that law--IOW, Denny's may be within their rights to bar armed police officers from entering the premises. HOWEVER, that is not the topic of this thread. The topic of this thread is the ABJECT STUPIDIDTY of Denny's for pursuing such a course.

Well, we clearly view this differently. Denny's should apologize to the cops for being such asshats.

I don't know how stupid it really is. This got them lots of free advertising. It will draw some added business from the anti-gun fanatics who will like knowing that there aren't any scary guns around. There really isn't much risk associated with this, a few fewer cops will use their restaurant, but the business will still enjoy the same police protection that they currently have.

No real risk and lots of free advertising.

So when should police carry guns ??? Never ? To get to any private place, you must traverse public property . You want to disarm our police as well ?

Yes cops are corrupt and have no right to carry guns in a private establisment.

No the thread is about Denny's dumb decision and the pussiy detectives who are whining about it.

I'm not even sure why you are so concerned about these child like detectives? I would be embarrassed sticking up for these insecure little children.

Private carrying should be illegal yes. Unless of course the owner says otherwise.

Is this really that hard to undErstand? If Denny's called the police to the establishment because they are their to enforce the law. If they are there on their own time Denny's can carry whatever pOlivier they want. The detectives don't get to do whatever they want.

I would order cops to disarm before allowing them in my house.

Lol~ brilliant. So don't ever call the cops to your home if you walk in to find your home ransacked and there's always the possibility you walked in while the burglar is still inside, hiding..... it has happened.

I can just see the looks on the cops faces when you order them to remove their guns b/f they step into your house to do their job.....

    Jeeez! Grow-Up......!

You said public carry as well... That would completely prevent a cop from carrying a fire arm lol.

Do you think maybe they should have throwing knives in case your home intruder has a gun to your head ?
