    It was not about oil at all and the Bush administration made sure that Iraq's oil reserves were fully controlled by the Iraqis in the final years of the administration. It was Britain's Shell and BP along with Malaysian firm Petronas and China's CNPC which had been awarded Iraqi contracts to exploit Iraq's giant oil fields in 2009.

    Americans are very good at drilling for oil.

    Who could drill for the oil that Iraq needs better than American companies?

    We went to war as a gov't, for the sake of opening up reserves for large Western Oil cos. Read or get someone to read the link in the OP for you.

    What does you case about gas have to do with Western Oil Cos getting access to the 2nd largest oil reserve? Nothing, they're not related.
    It may have been a vendetta as well, but still, the US wanted WESTERN OIL COs to get access and some control over the reserve oil.

    Yes along with other countries. Russia among them. Why didn't the U.S. just take over completely? If what you claim is true, those oil companies that you say control our government should have been able to seize all the oil-rich land in Iraq yet, they are still scrambling.

    But you are partially correct, it is about oil however what you fail to realize is that oil brings prosperity, progress, new technology, transport and all the modern conveniences we are blessed with today. It is almost life itself.

    The spoils are for Western Oil Cos and access to the reserves. Not for US consumption. And Iraqi people only get 20% of the oil. The rest leaves.

    I would be surprised to hear that Iraq consumes as much as 20% of the oil it produces.

    What would they do witt it other than selling it on the world market?
