Just attempting to make a humorous correlation between Gitmo and all North Americans.

I guess it failed. :( ...at least with you.

Perhaps Cuba will take back their land and free the prisoners once they've formed closer security links with their allies (ie Venezuela)? It all depends on them forming an opposing economic/political bloc with latin American and developing countries. Alone they wouldn't be able to oppose the US.

And together they wouldn't be able to do it either.

Nobody gives a sh*t about Cuba much less enough to ruin their economies to shut a prison camp for terrorists down.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_relations_of_Cuba

    "Russia

Relations between the two countries suffered somewhat during the Boris Yeltsin administration, as Cuba was forced to look for new major allies, such as China, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Relations improved when Vladimir Putin was elected as the new Russian President. Putin, and later Dmitry Medvedev, emphasized re-establishing strong relations with old Soviet allies. In 2008, Medvedev visited Havana and Raúl Castro made a week long trip to Moscow. In that same year the two governments signed multiple economic agreements and Russia sent tons of humanitarian aid to Cuba. Cuba, meanwhile, gave staunch political support for Russia during the 2008 South Ossetia war. Relations between the two nations are currently at a post-Soviet high, and talks about potentially re-establishing a Russian military presence in Cuba are even beginning to surface."

    "Brazil

With the electoral win of the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2002 ties between Cuba and Brazil have steadily warmed. Brazil continues to play its part in trying to revive and upgrade the offshore oil and gas infrastructure of Cuba.[40] In addition, talks led by Brazil are underway seeking to develop a framework for Cuba to become a normalised affiliate member of the Mercosur bloc of countries."

    "China

As the economy of the Soviet Union fell into a decline during the 1990s, the People's Republic of China has emerged as a new key partner for Cuba's foreign relations and the guardian of socialist countries around the world. Relations between Cuba and China continue to grow including deals for China to set up a possible military base in Cuba, similar to the Bejucal Base and an agreement was signed between China and Cuba for China open more factories producing local goods such as televisions. Cuba has also purchased from China a wide range of items including bicycles, rice cookers, energy-saving lightbulbs and diesel-electric locomotives with the aim of providing a boost to Cuba's national infrastructure."

I never said it would happen, but it's a definite possibility as Cuba forges international links after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The best way to break a hunger strike is to put out a big spread of food with a lot of tempting aromas. The other way is to simply disregard it and weld the prisoners' cell doors shut and let them continue to starve to death.

USrael are one and the same - both are terror states. To be their prisoner is like sheer hell. Torture and total disregard for human dignity. But...they surely will reap what they sow sooner or later, if the people don't get up and protest loud and long enough.

The people on hunger strike know exactly what they are doing. They are relying on the response of the OP because that is the plan. They believe we are a weak country and use it to their advantage on the world political scene.

Yes, because to be kept where you "can" refuse food as opposed to having your head cut off is so much worse.

    How civilized is the US?
They torture prisoners to death. What a relief for that poor prisoner.

This bad example rubs off on their offspring, and the cycle of violence continues.

Because people will definitely start supporting your torture facility after you murder the "terrorists" in cold blood.

Agreed but since he didn't, Obama now must, right? Don't forget the fact: Obama has personally decided to keep these innocents locked up for over four more years now.

Also don't forget, Obama has the power to end this outrage. Bush doesn't. Bush dropped the ball, and Obama is ignoring the ball with folded arms, refusing to pick it up.

If it were one of your family members who were locked up there without charge or trial for over a decade, and you hadn't seen or heard from or spoken to in over a decade, and were starving to death, would you be concerned then?

BTW can you name a soccer field in which the players get chained up, never to be allowed to leave, and never speak to their families or loved ones, ever again, and in which the majority of the players starve themselves to death in order to escape from?

If not, then you know your comparison is ridiculous.

BTW, when did you get released from Gitmo.. I'm curious considering you know how great it is to be there, right down to how good the food is.

The useful idiots play right into the hands of the people that want to kill them. If it were not so sad, it would be laughable.

I'll pose the same challenge to you that NeverLeft copped out on...

Specify which of the cleared for release, uncharged prisoners are "terrorists" citing names and evidence of terrorism please.

    You're forgetting this option:

SET THEM FREE BECAUSE THEY ARE INNOCENT

There are worse Gitmos in Afghanistan.

Also illegal, it is illegal to build prisons in other peoples Lands.

I think the injustice is purposeful. It is the Empire showing its power over us all.

In the past Empires would submit a few poor sods to the most dreadful tortures in public to instill fear into the masses who out numbered the ruling power. It is a very old trick of Empire.

Indeed. They are hoping that people will have compassion and human decency.

Nice argument.. It's okay that I have these people chained up in my cellar because at least I've not cut their heads off?

Why in the world are you wasting your time? In his first post in this thread, he used the word Islamonazi!! At that point, you should have ignored every other word he typed, so as to maintain your own sanity and intelligence. Continuing this debate can only waste your time, and make you stupider!!

Weakness? Compassion is a weakness now?

No more vagueness.. One of you lot needs to stand behind your accusations maybe you can. Start here.

Give evidence, tied to names, of any of the people that are the topic of this thread (uncharged innocents cleared for release and on hunger strike) and your evidence or examples about how they could give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about compassion themselves.
