I would say science stagnated much because of the way governments were back then. Authoritative and all powerful, could take anything from the people at anytime. Not to mention agriculture methods weren't nearly as efficient so more of the population had to focus on making necessities before dabbling in science. Who cares about making a brand new mouse trap when they don't get to eat all day.

There is no thievery here, they offer the scientist money for their work, and the scientists agree and develop things for the company. The company than offers the products to us for a specific price and we agree to pay it. No theft here, nobody was forced to do anything.

We know about these people because they took risks, many times with their own net worth at risk in their inventions. Edison got banks to back him, the wright brothers threw their own money into their machine. Hell the government was paying some other guy to develop an airplane at the same time, he was given far more than the Wright brothers ever had and he wasn't successful. Steve jobs was poor and took risks to build Apple, if it failed he would have stayed poor, probably lost what little he had. All of these people though didn't give up, were determined and driven to succeed; maybe there is a lesson in that for you.

Capitalism is private property and contract law. One can take what they have and invent things and become a millionaire if they so wish; its just a hard path to take. Most go the past of least resistance;. scientist job with guaranteed decent salary, nothing of theirs at risk, work for a company that provides them with the equipment they need; instead of doing it themselves.

It is more about the moral turpitude of bearing false witness to our own laws as a privilege and immunity in modern times.

Why do that when I could just slice some other guy's throat and take his? Wouldn't becoming a corporate accountant be the way to go? There has to be a better way than to actually work for anything that fudging numbers can't accomplish faster, easier and more efficiently. Money shuffling pays a lot better than actually working.

If you want to put some blame where it belongs, try pointing to the countries where people are treated like animals and forced to work for zippo. Sure, you can blame some American individuals that transferred jobs to those countries, but WHO GAVE THEM THE CHOICE? If those countries were actually responsible and had some MORALS, greedy people here wouldn't have had the choice to move the jobs. The system was working fine in the US until the REAL scum opened up the flood gates. If you want to see where the real greed is, look to central and south America and Asia. The WEST only profited on THEIR GREED.

So lets place the blame where it actually belongs. Slave labor doesn't really exist in the US. Massive manufacturing of drugs doesn't exist in the US either. But it exists elsewhere. Why? THEIR LACK OF MORALS. Sure, people here are weak enough to get suckered in, but who created the ability for us be sucked in?

Manufacturing here wouldn't have gone if the Asian region didn't abuse its people. The US wouldn't have a drug problem is those south of us weren't corrupt scum. Oil and the entire ME, wouldn't be as big an issue if those controlling it weren't living in centuries past. Trying to blame it on the West is not looking at the bigger picture.

If by "our" you mean losers who want others to provide for them, I agree wholeheartedly.

You think that is bad, the other ones don't even want to provide for full employment of resources in any given market, but especially for markets in human capital.

But GOPers and Libretardians get a vicarious fulfillment from supporting the economic bullies. It's like a pot-bellied couch potato getting a feeling of fitness and strength watching football. Or a Chickenhawk-lover feeling like a war hero watching "Saving Private Ryan."

You only look at the picture our anti-democratic ruling class presents to you. We the people should outlaw outsourcing instead of excusing the Greedhead economic traitors by saying foreign Greedheads tempted them too much.

Must be articulate strong anti-European stance in order to have a chance to connect all the elements into a meaningful whole. For example., it turns out that Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece are unfinished state, unlike Germany, Great Britain, Sweden., which are top noch. It is an economy power, which by itself is not the superiority of organization and construction of the state. This superiority comes from forcing those state mechanisms in the economic purpose of achieving profit and capitalist expansion.

But the point is that the state system is not based on economics, but the other way around. Organization of the state is based on the idea of what is good, just, true, free. When the idea is its set, its legality, content, such that recognizes itself, its proper implementation, in the world of production of goods and services, goods and cash flows, the singularity of property, then we have a capitalist state in which the principle of freedom remains at the level of abstract individuality. This means that it is understood solely by its point of singularity, which it defines as excluding relation to the other, as to the knowledge of the moment of generality that it also constitutes - not mature, or it remains clouded. This side developed communism, but we will not talk about that.

Everything is anxious to determine what is the individuality and its freedom. And now we have capitalism with its exclusionary attitude; individual and the state can reach equality, mutual respect with other individuals or states, because excluding relation to other is just constitutive for them. They are nothing more than that relation.

And now Germany and other northerners oppressed less developed economically southerners; course within the states they oppressed, more or less, immigrants, low-class, and so on. Northerners also somebody oppress, it is America. Telling them what to do and how, when someone is not listening there is a beating. Let's not mention examples, as they undergo the Western statesmen who dare to go to visit Fidel Castro and practice socialism, and what methods are available when the communists in a western country too their heads, for example in Italy.

In capitalism, everyone is at the same time on one oppressor and oppressed on the other side. The cause is that the abstract individualism of both the individual and the state can not come to independence, because it does not know the moment of generality. So it is not only opposed to the other from him but also depend on. Capitalist is dependent on workers and vice versa. The same applies to the states. European countries, although they are subordinated - need big boss. Condition, a situation in which both individuals were equal and mutually respected in the overall integrity of its person and its liberty will remain unknown to the West. Thus we see that the rule of the principles of abstract particulars "free world" has in itself still a problem unsurmounted ancient contrast of lordship and bondage. The instability of this world rests in the fact that he basically does have the principle of liberty, that is, also the principle of universality, equality, and so on., but fails to reconcile it with other moment of individual freedom - the principle of singularity, which is that world's leading and which is the same way as the principle of universality for freedom is constitutive. From there, the tension, there crumbling, hence the crisis. This world is torn apart in itself.

Who oppresses America? Is it the top of the chain and hierarchy? Does the principle of capitalism that America finally moves from exclusionary relationships to each other, necessarily, except in relation to himself. It certainly was. However, someone in a certain, although much milder way almost oppressive and does not respect even America. We know that it is Israel, according to which America shows weakness and condescending astonishing. The reason for that is not the power of the Israeli economy, or the military, and as we can see in this example, that reality is not what rules, but there is a principle, the idea of the West that in Israel is carried out more consistently and more extreme. That is its superiority.

America and Israel are so deeply involved in the paradoxical relationship, where the all-powerful protector of big brother humbly obey his ward, that you might think that there comes a kind of internal conflict. Internal conflict is the essence, but as it is a two-state here is not its stage. Israel appears to be perhaps the greatest master. He does not humiliate, except in a moral sense. He still can not impart lessons on human rights, those who have the make-up can still: this is the price going to the extreme. Everything has a price to different payment method.

Poverty is not a problem that can be solved by government. If government could fix poverty the US would have no poor.

It isn't business people that have killed the job market it is government policy that cripples capital formation through rules and regulations and high taxes.

You will misunderstand the dilemma if you fail to distinguish between poverty and poor. Only one can be solved through personal initiative and better money management skills.

What private sector would be worse off with any increase in the circulation of money that would be accomplished by solving for simple poverty in the US?

Well, one thing is for sure. Corporate crapitalism insures continued poverty. It IS corporate "business" that has killed society and the American dream. The "high taxes and regulations" is code for "gimme more".

Investors only hike the ball. Thinking that they are scorers and concentrating on appeasing them are fallacies that have made us a losing team.

That's not a very rational assessment.

Nepotism is surely a problem in every society, but to dismiss someone for not being jealous of someone else's inheritance is just illogical.

I agree for the most part. As far as I understand it, the Canadian healthcare system is decent in its own right, but it does have the weakness of not letting private insurers supplement public care.

Sorry Prometheus I wasn't talking aobut investors. I was talking about small business people. You get rich by starting and building a business. Investments usually occur after that. But in high tax states that compound the problem by having a large bosy of overly complex rules and regualtions fewer and fewer people are actually going to start a business that is unlikely to grow except in terms of monye like investment brokerages and law firms..

I've never met a Libertarian that supports "Crony Capitalism" which is what the GOP supports. I have met many Libertarians that support Laizze-Faire Capitalism and Contract Law which is not what we have in the United States and the GOP doesn't advocate Laizze-Faire Capitalism and Contract Law.

"Jealous" is a magnification of the sound a bootlicker makes. J is wetting the tongue, L is licking, and S is hissing at those who stand up to the privileged like men instead of getting down on their hands and knees in order to get in the best position for trickledown. If NFL players were allowed to pass on their positions to their sons, wouldn't you expect anyone who got his position on talent alone to resent the Heirhead players and demand that the privilege be abolished?

Entrepreneurship is a scheme to recruit obsessive workoholic Greedheads to support the 1%. There's no reason the whole group of potential employees can each contribute to the establishment of a business. No one would be a fanatic or think he alone created the company. And it would be better established and more capable of overcoming government obstacles if each member of the starting group concentrated in one area.

You're aping Joe the Plumber. One inconsistency I saw in his campaign was that he wouldn't have had the money to start a business if it hadn't been for plumbers' unions magnifying his wages. Yet he joins the union-busting GOPers.

The OWS is a band of anarchists and whiners. They rape women, beat people and break things. There have always been rich, poor and everything in between in this nation. Instead of expending all of their energy being criminals they should be engaging in improving themselves.
