Newbie here, although possibly I may have posted here many, many moons ago, as I have bounced around on more fora than I can remember or say grace over. Nevertheless, here I be, ready to regale you good folks with my unparalleled brilliance or unbelievable stupidity, as the case may prove to be. I am an unreconstructed Texan, constitutionalists, Confederate sympathizer, retired ne'er do well, on the downhill slide to 78 blessed years on God's Green Earth, a husband, father, grandfather, and soon to be great grandfather. For more years than I care to remember, I have voted as a Republican, having been raised as a Democrat, when Texas was only Democrats and a few Republicans that kept it hidden from public view. In '92, I voted for the Little Man with the Big Ears and Bigger Ego, supported Ron Paul in '08 and again in '12, but voting for Chuck Baldwin in '08 and Romney, against my principles, in '12. If I can survive what seems fair rules, ( I am sure I will probably miff a few, but please correct me and I will learn ) I am convinced my philosophy will become better known. I have a theory I have developed; to wit- we are all sojourners between the Great Eternities, and it seems silly to take ourselves too seriously. I am always looking for a good forum, so when I stumbled onto this one, it seemed like a goodern, so here I be. I thank you in advance for having me, but you just may change your minds at some future time. I am your obedient servant, Shooterman.
Hello Shooterman, welcome to Political Forum. I'm confident you will find many topics of interest here. Enjoy your posting. ~ Should you have questions regarding forum Rules/Guidelines (my signature) and/or functionality, don't hesitate to ask.
Hello and Welcome Shooterman, even if you are a Republican! I'm sure you'll find plenty of interesting topics.
Hello. One more point of view is always welcome here. I look forward to seeing what you have to say. Welcome to the forums.
I may vote PUB, Mertex, because the DIMS left my old fat butt many many moons ago, but I consider myself an equal opportunity party hater. Neither are worth warm spit in my estimation. - - - Updated - - - Thank you. I hope to have some impact, hopefully not all bad.
Actually, the only stop I've ever made in Texas was in Dalhart. Maybe I got the wrong impression. I know you also have Lubbock.
No crappydah? You're judging Texas by a stop you made in Dalhart. Good Googly Mooglies, Gad Zooks, An Ods Bodkin or two, and a Holy Moly thrown in for good measure. About 800 miles from where I live. Lubbock is a far piece away, as well. Jimminicrickets!
San Antonio is pretty and has lots of tourist attractions, but the darn heat in the summer is getting even to us natives.
It is the least noxious. My family were Jeffersonian and Jacksonian Democrats. There is doubt as to whether anyone in the DIM Party even knows what the hell they were.
Thanks. In truth, I'm a Texan by birth, A Southron by the Grace of God, and very close to being an ex-PUB.
I went on the boat tour through that exact spot three years ago when I went down there to visit my sister. It's a really nice place.
So, they probably supported slave ownership, makes sense. I don't take credit for my ancestors' beliefs, that was their accomplishments, not mine, but I sure know I'm not racist nor do I hope for trickle down riches and I think most Dems feel the same way, as opposed to cons.
I, for one, would like to welcome to you to the forums and not start a fight with you in the introduction thread.
The whole downtown scene is a tourist area, now. It is pretty, but I hardly ever go down there anymore. Your avi is quite interesting!
Most probably, at least 3rd Great Grandpap and 2nd Great Grandpap as each, to what I can tell, had a few. Of course Mr Lincoln's in laws, the Todds were large slave owners in Kentucky. Sherman and many of the other Yankee officers owned slaves, Free Black men owned slaves, some owned large numbers. Your argument, not only falling within the straw man category, has, of course no bearing on my family or the family of anyone else. They all fought for freedom in this country either against the Redcoats or against the Yankee Bluebellies. Just possibly your ancestors didn't have any beliefs worth having or fighting for, but only you would know that or not. There are few men in this world that are not racists or bigoted about someone or something. It is part of the human experience. Why ever would DIMS wish for trickle down riches, when they can con the government into letting them suck at the teat of the taxpayers for their riches. I am sure this will not mean diddily squat to you, but I certainly have never hoped for trickle down anything from government except a lot of crap that seems to have grown exponentially since Appomattox when the Republic was destroyed.
