What did you do today, in the wake of the government shutdown? I worked 12 hours. It was a beautiful day. Now, I'm having some tacos. Haven't seen any zombies yet...
The Government has shut down 18 times since 1976. 8 of those 18 times came with the Democrats in control of both houses and only 2 times under Republican control. I think it's great. Close all non essential Government offices for a month. Just imagine the savings sending the cubicle rats home for a month.
Well my life was in total disarray and chaos, and has been since that devasting sequester began. I mean, since then I've had to change...................... Oh wait, absolutely nothing's changed, and nothing will change if this gov't shutdown last a day, week, or forever.
Good for your self-centered self. Meanwhile, these are some of the people who have been affected: http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/10/01/impoverished-children-sent-home-from-preschool-thanks-to-shutdown/ http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57605501/wic-support-for-moms-babies-threatened-during-shutdown/ http://blog.al.com/wire/2013/10/government_shutdown_cdc_will_b.html http://blog.pharmexec.com/2013/10/01/government-shutdown-halts-fda-product-submissions/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-tarantino/government-shutdown-faq-f_b_4019443.html
Lol. I got up this morning. The electricity was still on. The computer still works. Traffic is still flowing, airplanes are still flying, the newspaper carrier delivered the paper. The postman left some mail. The big nearby army post is still in operation. Despite Obamacare, my doctor is still in business. All the stores are open. My ethanol-free service station is busy. I don't see any difference. Now, I'm wasting time on the desktop. Can I join you in a taco and a cold Corona? Spell Check sucks!
Non-essential federal workers on furlough. Question, if they're non-essential why were they hired in the first place?
Paulie went so far today as to actually say that this all happened because the *********s never had a serious debate on Obamacare ... this was about the same time Cantor & Boner Eastwooded with an *Empty Chair* debate with Dems ... *Flounder* ?
Woke up...went to gym, took shower, went to work. Filled out my office pool for this weeks football games. Will be getting off of work, going home to a dinner of Veal Parm, and a Sam Adams. Hope tomorrow runs the same way.
I started a new oil painting -- a landscape. I thought I heard some liberal zombies at the front door groaning that Obamacare will save the nation from the scourges of self-reliance and personal-responsibility, but I ignored them until they shuffled away groaning to themselves "Hope and Change!" and "Yes we Can!" So it's been a lovely day.
You ever notice that the same people who claim the government is too big and intrusive, are the same ones who don't notice when it shuts down? Makes you wonder how they can hold both of those beliefs at the same time.
Eh? From the sheer fact that low information voters re-elected Obama in 2012 it's safe to posit that most of them give the terms 'unaware' and 'brain-dead' entire new meanings. - - - Updated - - - Yep, that massive sigh of relaxation was from millions upon millions of harassed taxpaying and productive Right of Center voters noticing that the freaking tax and spend government had finally gone on holiday for a while.
They were essential in making sure that the shutdown is done in an orderly fashion ... as the example, you remember that company where Romney told the workers to build a stage so he could take the stage and tell the employees that he shipped the company to China and this was their last day ... In other words, it's essential you build your coffin as *death by conservatism*
Ahh yes elitism in it's finest tradition, where would be without people like you to guide us to the truth
That's just it though, if there were people like me guiding citizens to the 'truth' this nation would not be in its current state of ongoing chaos and deep economic doldrums. Glad that you spotted the problem. Good call.
Kind of a ridiculous statement when darn near every thread in current events and political beliefs is about it. Or maybe its just the fact that those who complain about it being to big instead of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about it actually enjoy it. Cause its the one time some liberal doesn't have his hand in my pocket taking what is rightfully mine, to give to someone else.
He's what establishment republicans and some of the castigated tea partiers now call *neo-confederacy fundraisers* ... if you're not a burn the country down right-wing lunatic ... you're against them ...
Those knuckleheads in Washington are making the mistake that we just might get use to the US gov't being the military, border patrol, and not much else.
At some point some canny rightwinger with a charisma index significantly above zero is going to point out to the nation that far from it being the end of the world as we know it [as exclaimed by the Left and their domesticated media pundits and journalists] things actually were better on the whole during the government shutdown period, and that the world did not, in fact, crumble into dust.
