Yep, this is exactly what I've been saying. The desperate reports of the 'tea party's' demise have been greatly exaggerated. I chalk it up to wishful thinking on the part of the Democrats. And I believe we're seeing the beginnings of a more conservative Republican party.

Methinks The Tea-Party Just Went Back On The Warpath | RedState

From Ted Cruz's impressive non-filibuster to the fact John Boehner showed more backbone than he's shown for years... the 'tea party' is alive and well... and operating under a whole new head of steam.

All they have to do now is sit back and watch Obamacare implode.

Welcome back, tea party... although you were never really gone. ;)

If right wingers had any sense at all, they'd cut all ties to the tea partiers, before that cancer afflicts the entire GOP.

This is what will happen. The non TP members of the Republicans will boot out the TP members. The TP will make their own party. The Republicans and TP will split votes during elections and the Democrats will win easy, every time. It's not going to make you happy.

Maybe, but the TEA party brings a lot of dollars to GOP races.

That's for the Republicans to worry about. Dems will still win their seats in the usual areas.
Its the end of the Republicans being powerful and influential for a little while. I've seen this in Canadian politics.

I tend to think the same but remember Republicans were saying Dems were going to be a permanent minority party in 2004 when Kerry lost.

So... while I think what you do. I am not ready to say it is a done deal.

The US needs a little political chaos. It's been boring and business-as-usual for far too long.

The TP makes the GOP unelectable, everyone with half a brain sees this; they will be crushed by the GOP machine because of this.

But when the democrat lady a while ago, did this over an idiotic abortion law, she was a bad person. I know you don't see your hypocricy, but I do.

Yup, if the NORMAL Republcans, the RINOs, dropped the nut jobs, they'd have a better chance to win the presidencey by nominating Chris Christie and having him campaign by making fun of the >>>MOD EDIT: INSULT<<<

The OP has a point. If ACA fails, then these guys look like geniuses and patriots. So right now, the Dem party is the party at risk of demise if this one law doesn't work. Ted Cruz and others have helped make it clear to the American people which of their reps support this law. And there are many indications that this law isn't going to work, not just the rollout, and the fact that it's still unavailable. There are religious groups opposing it. There are businesses opposing it. There are unions opposing it. There are individuals being forced to buy into a system of fraud, waste, and abuse opposing it. It appears there will be constitutional challenges to this law, once individuals and businesses have the standing to bring them.

But imo, Cruz and the rest need to pivot, and hard right now. They showed that they did what they could to not have this law impact Americans. Now there is no excuse, but for them to work with Dems, and do everything in their power to help make ACA succeed, so as not to harm Americans. If they do not do this, I also will lose respect for them, as many here already have.

But again, OP is right. The success of the Dem party is completely dependent on the success of this 3k page law that almost none of our reps read, and probably 99% of the repliers to this thread didn't read. Good luck.

Except, just today(or late last night) the DEMS got funding for the government without having to give an inch to the Tea Party(Ted Cruz and Mike Lee) and their weak attempts to defund the ACA.

Yeah, they are very relevant.........in the comedy world.

The Hardliners May Have Gone Too Far

Even some conservative Republicans have had just about enough of the hardline Tea Party members. And they're speaking out. Consider Rep. Charles Boustamy. R-La., who told National Journal that Tea Party lawmakers' "allegiance is not to the members in the conference. Their allegiance is not to the leadership team and to conservative values. Their allegiance is to these outside Washington DC interest groups that raise money and go after conservative Republicans."

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpoli...0-takeaways-from-the-fiscal-fight?ft=1&f=1001

GOP will come back, but t party will be a dinosaur.

If the left wingers had any sense at all, they'd cut all ties to liberals (who are a smaller portion of the country than tea parties), before that cancer afflicts the entire DNC.

But I'm sure you won't see how ludicrous your comments are.

Yeah, Abortion Barbie is a bad person. In fact she is evil and so is anyone who wants to abort a fetus that is viable outside the mothers womb.

So no one read the bill? Then why did the GOP claim that it contains "death panels"?

Either they read the bill and misinterpreted what they read or they didn't read it and pulled something out of their arse?? Either they misrepresented what they read or they lied! Just that simple.

Im willing to go with "misrepresentation", since this makes the GOP look the best.............but if you want to prove/show that the GOP lied, Im willing to listen and believe you.

which is the sensible thing to do, distance themselves from the crazies...the TP would wither and disappear if they were on their own with zero chance of ever being a political force...it would hurt the republican's in the short term but they would be free of the TP loons and attract the return of moderate republicans who have gone over to the democrats...

That's so funny! The GOP would be dead already if not for the Tea Party. The GOP had no relevance at all until the Tea Party made it relevant again. This is just great! I love it!

The GOP would be much more relevant and acceptable by the general public if they were to cut ties with the Tea Party.

Nah, pretty much both sides said they didn't read it the week it was passed. They may have read it since. Has the ordinary American read it, that I've met? I met one classmate that claimed he did, that's it. No one else I know has read this law. Then you get into the interpretation of it, if they have. I'm supposed to fault people for not understanding the law?
