It reflects the Chinese government's desire to improve the people's livelihood in Tibet. The nine dead officials might not be the culprits who pocketed the money. With such violence in the region, it is not surprising that the Chinese government is not keen in foreign projects in the region. As a Chinese saying goes, "Where the mountains are high, the Emperor is far away", corruption among local officials is rampant, especially in faraway parts of the country. To deal with rampant corruption, it may be good for the Chinese government to allow one or two independent private newspapers to operate in the country. Meanwhile, private blogs could play a role in supervising the government. http://www.politicalforum.com/asia/305818-high-mountains-keep-away-emperor.html By shouting the familiar slogan of the separatists, it's obvious who those Tibetans were. Hence I don't think their arrest was related to the shootings at the district meeting.
I think that people in Tibet think that the education at school that the Chinese provides to kids might be a lie. At school, they can teach wrong thing about history and about the Tibetans culture (if the teacher supports China or have Chinese background). That is all Tibetan people concern. Therefore China should somehow persuade Tibetans people about their education by letting their parents having visiting lectures or stuff like that. (just my stupid idea ) speechless very good idea! I am actually a reporter of http://fnotw.org which is a neutral site, specialized in news from conflict zones and every one can come and write news, discussions and opinions. However it has been dominated by Tibetan supporters and I hope that there will be more Chinese supporters coming there to balance the leverage.
In this world governed by the law of the jungle, all the people are both the oppressors and the oppressed. The European Union was awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize for its major achievement of safeguarding peace and security and forging a common future for a continent saddled with a bloody history of conflict. Neither can you find any "useful" people in the "Easterners" such as the Japanese. Like Europe and America, China and Japan also have a bloody history of internal conflict. Like China, Japan also has a bloody history of "Warring States". It looks like you are waiting for the CIA to march to Tibet one day so that you can also shoot a “bugger” dead. You appear to be one of those optimistic ones who believe to have more than “nine lives” of a cat through reincarnation, thus you think you have plenty of time to wait. Unfortunately, not all people in Tibet are as optimistic as you, otherwise there won't be any foolish people tricked by the separatists to commit suicide.
It’s another shocking prediction by the prophet. It's ironical that US lawmakers always pass bills to condemn the human rights of others but not themselves. I hope the ever optimistic lolo would not be discouraged and annoyed by your prediction. Neither do I hope the self-proclaimed Native American "Mushroom" would be offended by your remark. Any comment from lolo and Mushroom? P.S. Your uncle is still waiting to appreciate your cute poem on Hack Kwai's chickens.
I've just checked out their website. Things have changed quite a bit since 2007. It appears they've dropped teacher training and are now concentrating more on scholarships,, to where I have no idea.
It sounds like a fairy tale to many Chinese. If the Chinese immigrant marries a partner of the same sex, I believe he could still "live happily ever after", but not the disappointed parents with shattered dreams. I have a friend who placed so much hope on his only son that he tried all his best to send him to a top university in Canada. His son is a brilliant guy. After getting a degree in the Canadian university, he even managed to graduate with a doctorate degree in a top university in the US. However, my friend's dreams were totally shattered and he even considered suicide after getting news that his doctorate son had recently married a white gay. guy http://www.thefreedictionary.com/guy
The Chinese, and others, are fascinating with their preference for boys. The tradition once was to educate the boys, but not the girls, because boys stayed with the family while girls would be lost to the natal family after they married. But you know this don't you? My wife and I have two boys who have the good looks and hybrid vigor that often comes from a mixed genetic background. At family gatherings my boys are always the biggest and strongest people present. My boys look like Uighurs, but are very Chinese in their filial piety (xiao). My in laws think of my wife as a rock star who didn't leave the family, and produced sons who proudly carry the clan name as part of their surname.
Hardly - the CIA are just another equivalent of the SSman. They control the UK Government, which interferes with us a great deal still.
I have to emphasize that my proposal is based loosely on the concept of the American Indian reservation. Under such a concept, a Chinese Tibetan reservation will be an area of land managed by a Tibetan community under the Chinese Department of the Interior's Bureau of Tibetan Affairs. Inhabiting in tiny pockets of region surround by a sea of other ethnic Chinese communities, the Tibetans will not be allowed to have any contact or relations with foreign countries, groups, individuals and tourists except the Chinese Central Government. China will be in full control of the foreign affairs and defence of all the Chinese Tibetan reservations. The freedom to revert to their medieval way of living is tantamount to travelling through the time tunnel for the Tibetans back to the 14th century when there were no such modern gadgets as telecommunications, internet, radio, television, newspapers, etc. In the reservations, they will be given full freedom to govern themselves in whatever ways they like, even allowing to revert to their ancient feudalistic society of slavery and serfdom. I hope you will still praise my proposal as good idea after reading this post. P.S. By the way, you may help to appraise the performance of former Chinese President Hu Jintao who was once Party secretary for Guizhou province and the Tibet Autonomous Region. http://www.politicalforum.com/asia/294736-hu-jintaos-10-year-report-card.html Hu Jintao http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hu_Jintao Indian reservation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_reservation What we don't hear about Tibet http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/feb/10/tibet-china-feudalism Why do people hear wisdom in the Dalai Lama's empty rhetoric and meaningless tautologies? http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/r...s-empty-rhetoric-and-meaningless-tautologies/
Tibetans(culture) are under terrible Han Machine press, its for sure. and Tibetans will vanish in 30 years
Don't worry, Your Majesty Algirdas, the last of the Duchy clan. Tibetans will never vanish like your Duchy clan. As long as there are Native Americans in the US, there will be Tibetan Chinese in China.
I doubt whether they will ever reach the stage of your Duchy clan. Your Majesty Algirdas, you are the only fortunate one to be the last of your clan.
Tibetans have passed "my" stage long time ago... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinicization_of_Tibet#cite_note-1
Tibet: A losing battle (part 1 and 2) http://www.france24.com/en/20130530-debate-tibet-losing-battle-part-2-sinicization
Not yet. Yours is a lost case like the Ainu, Ryukyuan people, Kurds, Romani people and Native Americans. Your Majesty is the last of the clan. It looks like part 1 has gone leaving behind part 2.
China will never let go of Tibet. Control of the Three Rivers Headwaters is of critical strategic importance to China. The Tibetan people need to either leave or integrate. Their desires are irrelevant.
Kurds do very well , 2 Kurdistans in 10 years, and my "clan" follows the Kurdish footsteps i m sure you have seen part 2 or 1 , of cos you bring Tibetan people progress , you won they lost ps whats about book which i recommended to you? - - - Updated - - - Hitler , are you alive?
Your insults do not change that whoever controls Tibet controls a significant portion of China's water supply so it is going to be China that controls it until well after people have forgotten about Tibet.
