What common ground do modern liberals share with America's founding fathers?

Uh, yeah, in the work place, not in any school.

Again, I was hoping for some specifics.

I don't know of any K-12 school that even discusses these things, besides religion being taught in social sciences class. Are you talking about colleges?

Yes, fearmongering via hyperbole is always a viable tactic I guess.

Jump off the cliff or I will shoot you. Yes, no one is forcing you to jump off the cliff in your mind but you will be dead just the same.

Illegal force is a common term understood since the founding of this nation.

Freedom. If you are a lib, it means whatever you can force others to do through government power. For us freedom fighters it means the that government is limited from oppressing our rights.

So paying a penalty tax is the same as being dead to you? Do you have insurance now? If not why not? If so what are you complaining about?

The SC says it is Not illegal.

    What rights have you lost?

By who? I have never heard it used before now and the Founding Fathers certainly never used it. "Illegal" means against the law, and obviously Obamacare IS the law. So, where does the illegal part come from?

How about we step away form accusations and vitriol, over generalizations don't make you any more credible.

And what rights are those? Where did they come from? Where do your rights begin and where do they end? Do you have a right to do anything you wish?

You have the right to do anything you wish unless it trample's other's rights. Plain and simple. That is called freedom. The Statist wants to save you from yourself by using the force of government to make you do what they feel is necessary.

Then you haven't been listening to or seeing Obama's reactions to the United Kingdom.

The Constitution still allowed for slavery, so equality is a relatively recent development.

'Political correctness' is just a euphemism for politeness, as far as I'm concerned. It makes me wonder why conservatives have such an issue with it; or is boorishness a prerequisite, and characteristic of their ideology?

Ok, in public schools and colleges with the exception of most elementary schools (May be starting there as well) you have gay groups, African American Groups, Islamic groups. Organizations pushing climate change, anti gun and hunting groups, pro-choice groups promoting condoms and the list goes on and on.

Try having traditional marriage groups, white groups, climate change debunker groups, pro-life groups or an NRA group etc.
I didn't think so. They would be labeled as hate groups and there would be outrage. I am not saying public institutions should have these groups either, I am just saying the progressives only allow one way or the highway by attacking anything they deem politically incorrect and allowing their belief structure.

It is not what educators are saying so much, but it is what is orthodoxy and what peer pressure would allow other to do or say. In Communist countries it was getting so bad, young people would report anything out of indoctrination thinking to the authorities. We are heading in that direction.

So you consider yourself a Statist then? Otherwise, why would you consider the truth an insult?

Talking of "unwanted, oppressive legislation", and forcing it upon people without their informed consent, I suppose I shouldn't mention PATRIOT and Homeland Security, should I? Which party decided that violating the Constitution was a good idea when enacting those stunningly well thought-out pieces of legislation? Remind us...

It usually means the right has no real answers; but wants to trash the left, just on general principle.

In which case this whole argument is pointless. Both parties are equally inept, and neither of them appear to contain anyone of real political integrity. I watch your election circuses which look as though they're modelling themselves on America's Got Talent, or something equally vacuous, and I wonder how such a powerful and influential nation could, even for a second, consider the likes of Palin, Romney and whoever the liberals were then touting, as serious presidential material. In a nation of 300 million souls couldn't you even just try to do a little better?
It was actually a little frightening to think that self-serving, inept morons like them could have become leaders of your country. Still, that's democracy for you.

That depends entirely on how you define "statist". If you mean I think there should be a state, yes I'm a statist. If you mean that I think the government has some role to play in the economy, yes I'm a statist. If you mean "statist" as a pejorative attack against my character with random adjuncts that you want to be attached to the word such as "totalitarian", "evil", "wants to trample on your rights", then no. Unfortunately, statist has become another buzzword among Libertarians and AnsCaps that they think they can use as a derogatory attack against someone's moral character.

What truth? Your opinion doesn't count as truth in debates.

Why do leftists want to surrender their freedom, liberty, and property rights to a huge, unaccountable, and bankrupt government?

You also have Libertarian groups, Conservative groups, Anarchist groups, Christian groups, Republican groups, etc. What is your point? Christian groups are incredibly popular in secondary education, and I have never heard of gay groups, African American groups, or Islamic groups in secondary education either.

What the hell are "white groups"? But anyways, usually the above topics are covered by the groups I mentioned above.

Well, that's certainly BS. Have you ever been to a college campus? There are student groups for almost anything you can think of.

Based on what evidence? Even if the above groups that I mentioned didn't exist, which they do, so what? Maybe there isn't enough popularity on campus for them. Just because they exist doesn't mean there is oppression going on. There was a Quidditch group at my campus, but that doesn't mean other books are getting burned.

Young Germans were also 'encouraged' to report anything their parents said to their Nazi masters. Indoctrination knows no political preference, left or right. Interesting you feel you're moving in that direction...

Funny Snake, you sit and point fingers all smug while your own government circus has created a useless nation no longer a world player.

Which of any of your governments hasn't been huge and unaccountable and not in debt? You choose. Actually let me help; your country has been in debt since Andrew Jackson's presidency. As far as I know he was the only US President to pay off your national debt.

    Let me think:
    I don't have any slaves.
I served in the military that didn't even exist in the 18th century.
I have an education that is not in the classics
    I can't ride a horse
I own weapons that didn't exist in the 18th century.
I was born in a state that wasn't even a colony
I have traveled to countries that didn't exist in the 18th century
I have slept with black and brown women who didn't call me master.
    I am not religious

I don't think I have much in common with people from that time... and frankly wouldn't want to have lived then either.
