I have no problem with Britain not being a 'world player'. But then again I'm not a defensive, arrogant, chest-beating, 'patriotic' American who always feels he has to prove something. As many Americans I meet have been.

All of whom had your country in debt anyhow. If you're in the red, you're in debt-and it matters not by how much, obviously.

It does at my house. I may be in the red, but I can at least make my monthly payments. This country can't even afford the interest on this kind of debt.

Statism - The practice or doctrine of giving a centralized government control over economic planning and policy.

Statist believe that government controls the economy when history shows the more government is involved the slower the economy grows. The key word here is 'control'. Government is force and Statists like to use the force of government to implement their version of utopia. Often misguided, the unintended consequences are usually ignored and instead of fixing the problem by backing out, they want to fix the problem by adding more layers, again using the force of government to get their way.

Is that control over ALL economic policy and planning, or is it variable? Is there statism-lite? I mean, are regulations considered an aspect of statism?

[quoteStatist believe that government controls the economy when history shows the more government is involved the slower the economy grows.[/quote]

What do you mean involved? And where is the date to back up this assertion?

Government IS force? Is all force bad?

That's just silly. Government is a tool of the aggregate and many people, including myself, view it that way. I certainly am not trying to create any utopia, only a more efficient system.

Is it impossible that some of the consequences are a result of a faulty policy?

So, by your logic, it would have been preferable for the ACA to simply have been a tax hike for all Americans and assignment of a health care package that you didn't get to select...
    That makes no sense.

Really?? Great. yet another far righter who blames the other side for all problems and turns a blind eye to all of the flaws of their own party. You, are the type of person that Washington was warning about.

FAIL. I belong to no party. I call em like I see em. Both sides need a kick in the butt. You should try free thinking. Its very ...well.... freeing. Actually the people they were worried about were the people who realized they could vote themselves free stuff. They predicted correctly. Ive never seen anything like what I am seeing in this country at the moment.

Medicaid was a new system that replaced nothing with something.
The ACA is a new system that replaces an existing system in which people have options (although few decent affordable options).

You're saying the ACA would have been better if it gave people fewer choices - ie: if the government decided on a single package that would apply to everyone - rather than establishing an affordable program with several options.

That being said, you still want to complain that the government is implementing something that you don't agree with (as if the government dictating only a single option would have been better).

Only the right gives the drug war a free pass while complaining about health care for the least wealthy.

It doesnt make any more sense the second time around. Rephrase the question or stop pestering me. Pretty please. The only commonality between our sentences is the word "Free".

And it has zero place in education. But, starting around the time a kid enters junior high or high school, we indoctrinate them with politically correct thinking. We tell them, pretty much outright, that deviations from PC are bad. We make sure that kids are told to think that people who commit thoughtcrime are losers. And Thoughtcrime, generally runs in the direction of socialism and multiculturalism, for want of better terms. Kids are taught to think that the bad old days, before government intervention, were hell on earth.

except that the right can make money by investing in drug testing companies instead of morals testing companies.
