Anyone with access to American TV couldn't help but know that Obama and the Democrats repeatedly threatened a default on our debt. Evidently the Japanese heard it.

"It wouldn’t be wise,” he said, “to just kick the debt-ceiling can down the road for a couple months, and flirt with the first-ever intentional default right in the middle of the holiday shopping season. Because damage to America’s sterling credit rating wouldn’t just cause global markets to go haywire; it would become more expensive for everyone in America to borrow money.”

So they could borrow more money to spend. They have a need to spend more.

He has demonstrated that you are wrong from multiple angles. Whether you measure by National GDP or individual (per capita), the US is more productive than Japan.

What figures are you using exactly? Feel free to post your source. He has posted his.

    1. When an individual finds himself in a desperate and hopeless situation, he might have to set his morals and honour aside for his own survival and find any excuse for doing things that he thinks are morally questionable. This was illustrated in Akutagawa Ryonosuke's story "Rashomon" where a desperate, starving man gave this excuse for robbing an emaciated little old white-haired woman of her kimono: "Well then, you won't hold it against me if I try to steal your clothes. If I don't, you see, I too will starve."

It could be the same with any nation on the verge of hopelessness and desperation.

    2. Following are excerpts from the story "Rashomon" by Japanese writer Akutagawa Ryonosuke (1892-1927) at https://sites.google.com/site/renemalenfant/rashomon

    (Begin excerpts)
.....The servant was no longer debating whether to starve to death or become a thief. The way he felt now, the idea of starving to death was virtually unthinkable.

"That's definitely true," the servant agreed derisively when she had finished speaking. He took a step forward and suddenly tore his right hand away from the pimple. Grabbing the woman by the scruff of the neck, he said to her in a biting tone:

"Well then, you won't hold it against me if I try to steal your clothes. If I don't, you see, I too will starve."

The servant deftly stripped the woman of her kimono. She tried to cling to his leg, but he kicked her violently onto the corpses. The entrance to the stairwell was a mere five paces away. In the blink of an eye, the servant ran down the steep staircase and into the darkness, carrying the dusky-red kimono under his arm.

For a while, the old woman lay there as if she were dead, but it was only a short time before she lifted her naked body off the corpses. Whimpering, she crawled over to the stairs, by the light of her still-lit torch. She stuck her head into the stairwell door, and looked down to the bottom of the gate, her short white hair hanging upside down. But outside, there was only the pitch-black darkness of night.

Where the servant went to, nobody knows. (End excerpts)

    Desperation (novel)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desperation_(novel)

As illustrated in the story of "Rashomon", the emaciated little old white-haired woman at the tower atop Rashomon had no fear of the corpses and ghosts, but got the shock of her life to find a live human appeared suddenly in front of her.

Hence you can "trust someone who has a brain-dead government" but not someone who has a government on the verge of hopelessness and desperation.

Yes we produce more per person and have a policy of taking in people from all over the world.

Get your economy straight Japan. Stop printing money. Stop the currency manipulation and stop export subsidies.

You really are totally confused. Before you start telling Japs what to do shouldn't you be sorting out your own house? The U.S economy is in a terrible mess. Sort yourself out.
