Angola's population of 16 million is predominantly Christian, with only 80,000-90,000 Muslims, the majority of whom are migrants from West Africa and families of Lebanese origin, according to the US State Department

No.. because they went to get the oil and/or build infrastructure not force change on their culture, faith or traditions. That's why Saudi ARAMCO is the largest and most successful oil company in the world.

I would assume based on the logic that while SAs treatment of minority religions and women and poor immigrants is appalling it is still considered to be an important US ally in a very volatile region, and a major oil producer that always helps.

I see, so then the idea of sanctioning countries for religious intolerance is more a matter of opportunity and convenience than one of principle.

Please note that KSA is a very homogenous society .. They have been peaceful and stable for 70 years.. unlike Iran, Iraq and Syria.

I don't like it but its alot easier to be principled when their is little to lose from offending the transgressor.

When you consider what might happen to Christians in Saudi Arabia, it sure seems the place to stay away from. I do agree with you, the Saudis have a ruthless efficiency in eliminating all forms of possible religious dissent from the prevailing Muslim groupthink. Small wonder then, that other countries such as Angola, are emulating the KSA. If anything, you should be proud.

There are thousands of Christians in Saudi Arabia... They go to Sunday School and Church services.. They have vacation Bible school and choir.

I think you should talk to some Christians like me who spent 20 years in Arabia and stay away from the hate sites.

OK, let's assume it's the lower number

20k will convert, 20k will flee, 20k will go underground and then start a violent jihad after some are arrested and either mistreated or killed. So where Angola had a small and inoffensive minority and mostly average relations with the rest of the world they will end up with 20,000 terrorists and becoming a world pariah. Way to go, see how tyranny and oppression is always so effective.

And do you believe that if they allow Muslims to worship freely that they won't increase and that they won't end up massacring and ethnically cleansing Christians the way they are doing in the other African nations? Some of those massacres aren't even religious, they are racist since it is Arab Muslims against black Muslims, which makes it a double jeopardy for Angola.

They are doing the smartest thing one can do for self preservation, and hopefully the E.U. won't interfere and impose its own supposedly 'superior' values on another 'inferior' and less civilized people...as Europeans have been doing for centuries.
    :frustrated:

They hold services in a variety of multiple use buildings.

What do you mean pray in public toilets?

Since you were in Saudi Arabia you should know.

    - - - Updated - - -

Gad.. Some are from Lebanon and some are from West Africa.

What "color" do you think the West Africans are, Jeannette?

There are Christian and Jewish communities all over Arabia and Persia. Look for them to be banned (and possibly de-capped) as illegal religious sects. Good move, Angola.

I have been hearing for years about Christians being persecuted in Saudi Arabia for having a Bible, and I know there are no Christian Churches, although there might be some in the American enclaves. I see no reason why these people would lie. :confuse: :

They have been there for 70 years.. Nothing is going to happen to them no matter what Angola does.

Christians in Arabia have Bibles, crosses, rosary beads, hymnals..

If you take a bible or two thru customs, no problem.. If you brought in a box of Bibles.. they would probably take them.
