    Apparently it is an M. P. from Langley, B. C. who has put forward this bill to protect babies from being aborted simply because they are girls!

    In some cultures having a male child is more desirable to having a female. It also comes from the 1 child policy of one of the countries where this cultural practice occurs in that they'd rather have 1 male child then 1 female.

    I removed one word. With so many choices of preventive methods, I have no clue why once a baby is created, anyone would want to abort the beautiful life

    Yes!

    Once we "religious types" can see where a problem is at least partly our fault....then we actually have more power to do something about that problem!

    The possibility of the Holy Spirit of Christian fame... or the Ruach ha Kodesh of Jewish thought being ultimately, perhaps.... G-d the Mother.... may give us an idea to work with that could help to change attitudes????!!!

    The plus side of this trend is that this form of forum gives us the freedom to get back into a topic...... when we can!

    I rather dislike "chatting" because it is just not easy to be available to chat at the same time that the other person is!

    This type of forum... where we can reply... as time and opportunity allows.... is such a pleasant relief over many forms of communication ... that just don't fit with our lifestyles!

    Surely liberals against sex selective abortion should reconsider any opposition to these procedures.

    Otherwise, they're just sawing the branch on which they stand.

    It is a HUGE problem in India.

    Girls are VERY expensive due to cultural traditions of Dowry on marriage. Walking around Bombay it is just a sea of men. It is already illegal to do this, but I watched an expose where they took hidden cameras into doctors offices with pregnant women who wanted ultrasounds to determine the sex, so they can abort them. None of the offices they went to followed the laws. It is a serious problem, and finding a wife is becoming incredibly difficult.

    I will see if I can find it.

    At least in India the male fetus will survive inside the woman's womb, while here in the US there is no respect at all and doctors kill anyone inside a pregnant woman regardless of the sex... we are in a worst situation...

    They're having a problem with this in India. Male children are prized more than females. In fact, in Indian society, females are treated rather poorly. The result is that there are approx. 45 million ,more men in India than women, making it difficult for many men to marry.

    Actually this is good for population reduction. I hope they keep doing it.
    Eventually it will be the men who demand a halt to the practice and girls will be the prized offspring.

    It should be obvious that when they are scarce they will be more valuable. That is logical, isn't it? As it is they have 45 million men with no wives. Maybe when it gets to be 90 million they will start to catch on to what is happening.

    I don't know if anyone noticed, but I think this topic is about Canada. And I've heard in the past about how girls are aborted in higher numbers in the USA too.

    I don't know what's going on... But apparently many people hate girls. Look how stupid we are. No need to go to cultures who hate women, it looks like this is a near universal, shared opinion around the world.

    The large population of Hindus in Canada has a lot to do with why the practice is so wide-spread there. That is a religious matter, okay?

    Christian tradition has not been exactly conducive to the rights of women prior to the 20th Century, either.
