Nah, not now the world's media is on you like a hawk. Not even the Zionist PR machine in the form of your Minister of Propaganda, Regev, could squirm his way out of that.

The US of AIPAC is characterised by hypocrisy as policy. The oil tyrants aren't keen on any form of international justice. Check out Bahrain.

Better to attack relatively defenceless people during christmas and the new year when Western media scrutiny is not as prevalent.

That's got rid of her then. Oxfam should wake its ideas up.

Here ya go, Scarlett. Your Soda Stream occupiers somehow managed to ' subdue ' a Palestinian civilian with a ' machine gun ' who somehow managed to miss them all with '17 shots ' and then somehow died. Never mind. Go promote some fascist fizz water.

To all those naive enough to listen to the lies told here day in day out.
Here is some reallity check, those trying to persuade you to join boycotting Israel:
The BSD started long before Israel was created, in fact the Arab Executive Committee of the Syrian-Palestinian Congress called for a boycott of Jewish businesses in 1933 and in 1934, the Arab Labor Federation conducted a boycott as well as an organized picketing of Jewish businesses. In 1936. On December 2, 1945, the newly formed Arab League Council declared a formal boycott: "Jewish products and manufactured [goods] in Palestine shall be [considered] undesirable in the Arab countries.

Note, all this before Israel was even a state, not to talk about 67 war.
Many years, companies like Shell, Pepsi, Toyota and many more did not dare to sell in Israel fearing losing the Arab market and followed the Arab boycott of Israel.
Now they feed you crap that this is because of this or because of that.
In fact, the only reason for this is for Israel being a state. So if you join, at least know what you are joining.
Israel have thrived many years before with a much stronger boycott and will continue to do so.

Or driving his electric car up to Canada to lecture them on the oilsands. He figures "if we all would just switch to electric cars we would not need the oilsands"

OK Neil ... If we just stop using metal, cause those strip mines are such an eyesore, then we would not have the electric guitar now would we ?

These star's seldom have a clue about the causes they choose to take up.

Update: Lost in Occupation: Scarlett Johansson ends relationship with Oxfam to stick with Soda Stream

"Late Wednesday West Coast time the Associated Press broke the news. A statement released by a spokesperson for her cited “a fundamental difference of opinion” about the issues raised by her recent decision to serve as “global brand ambassador” for SodaStream, a company that manufactures its home carbonation contraptions in an illegal settlement on the West Bank."

Update: Lost in Occupation: Scarlett Johansson ends relationship with Oxfam to stick with SodaStream | Mondoweiss

This is the report from The Associated Press.

"A statement released by Johansson’s spokesman Wednesday said the 29-year-old actress has “a fundamental difference of opinion” with Oxfam International because the humanitarian group opposes all trade from Israeli settlements, saying they are illegal and deny Palestinian rights."

“Scarlett Johansson has respectfully decided to end her ambassador role with Oxfam after eight years,” the statement said. “She and Oxfam have a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement. She is very proud of her accomplishments and fundraising efforts during her tenure with Oxfam.”"

"Earlier this month, “The Avengers” and “Her” actress signed on as the first global brand ambassador of SodaStream International Ltd., and she’s set to appear in an ad for the at-home soda maker during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2."

SodaStream “treats us like slaves,” says Palestinian factory worker -

"When asked if there was discrimination between black and white Jews, M. replied, “Yes, for sure. You will not [find] white Jews wearing yarmulke [a skull cap] doing the hard work or ‘hand work.’ The supervisors who run the factory are mainly Russian and they are managed mainly by the white Jews, and we are ‘Palestinians,’ only workers.”"

"M. also talked of discriminatory hiring practices, explaining that “most Israelis are hired through the company directly,” while West Bank Palestinians require “a special security permit to be employed.” The settlement factory has an internal security officer who “takes care of applying for the permits from the Israeli authorities.”

THIS news makes my day, A Person Cannot Represent Soda Stream and do work for a human rights group like Oxfam too, they are fundamentally two acts at odds with one another.

    The Video below addresses THIS.

I've been a fan of Young's since I first heard After The Goldrush as an eleven year old in 1973 and have more or less followed his career ever since. Having just read his autobiograhy, 'Waging Heavy Peace', just reiterates in my mind what a complex and contradictory man Neil is.

As a footnote, genocides occurred in many parts of post-colonial Africa which never got boycotted, but strangely enough never in South Africa. Go figure.

I like the fellow too and have been to his concerts. I like Robert Redford and Darrel Hanna but they do not have a clue what they are talking about in general when it comes to environmental issues. I worked as a research scientist and project manager for over a decade for large environmental engineering firms. I still dabble doing some consulting but left that world 7 years ago because saving the world does not pay well. My specialty was alternative remediation technologies such as cleaning up hydrocarbon contaminated soil and groundwater using bioremediation or chemical oxidation rather than traditional "dig and dump" which just moves the problem from the site to a landfill.

I can tell you that "global warming" is about 4th or 5th on my list of most pressing environmental issues.

Question for ( Neil, Robert and Darrell) Which is worse for the environment ? A barrel of oil sand crude or a barrel of conventional crude from Nigeria ?

Answer .... the barrel of Nigerian crude is far worse from an environmental perspective. Way way worse and same with Russia, Saudi Arabia, an so on.

Canada and the US have strict environmental laws. These other countries do not. The issue with the oil sand crude is that it takes more energy to produce the barrel of oil. What this means is that the overall amount of CO2 produced is incrementally higher. 99% of CO2 comes out the tailpipe (when you burn it as fuel) so the increase is in the order of a tenth of a % if that.

Is this something ... yes, but it is very small.

The number one environmental issue for me (and at conferences full of experts sitting at round tables 8-10 people each for breakfast lunch and dinner no one has ever gainsayed me on this .. all nod in agreement) is Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP's) These are things like mercury or chlorinated hydrocarbons which are very hard for the environment to get rid of, building up in the oceans.

Industry in countries like Nigeria, China, India and so on dump all kinds of stuff into their rivers which ends up in the Oceans and it is a huge issue. That barrel of Nigerian crude is way more harmful to the environment.

Second is population increase coupled with industrialization. A study done about 5 years ago looked at consumption of resources per person. The US is 36 while someone eating a bowl of rice a day in Nigeria is 1. China at that time was 11. The study said if China was to reach our level of consumption, world resource production would have to double. Just China.

Now China will likely not make it to 36 anytime soon but they will get half way. The 1.1 billion in India will also make it half way as will Indonesia and many other countries who are industrializing. When you look at the increase in energy consumption due to industrialization and population increase the incremental increase due to that oil sand crude is statistically zero. It is not even a rounding error on a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent in terms of CO2 emissions. Comparing the impact to CO2 emissions from a doubling or tripling of global energy consumption compared to the incremental increase from oil sand production is like comparing the universe to a grain of sand (and I am not embellishing much here)

If you factor in the increase in POP pollution caused by population increase/industrialization - we may not even make it long enough to see "global warming".- it becomes even more stupid. There are some very serious issues. Seriously, this is no joke and there is no disagreement among experts on this. There are some really serious issues out there and they are being ignored in part because of celebrities jumping on the global warming bandwagon.

This post is already way to long but there are also other pressing issues and somewhere after this comes global warming.

Solution ? Decrease the population by a global effort to make sure there is a min standard of life in third world countries. This does not mean we need to give them ipods and cell phones. It does mean that we need to make sure that everyone on the planet gets a couple square meals a day. 2 bows of rice a day with a vegetable or two and the occasional piece of meat a couple of times a week.

What blows me away is that there are still people in this world, billions in fact, living on a bowl of rice a day. This is where the population increase is coming from. First world country populations are declining and the only way we maintain our populations is through immigration.
