You must not know the history of Nevada. The federal government owned the land before Nevada was a state.

Given the greed of a few state fat cats (like Bundy) that would exploit the land and leave it wrecked, it's far better to have a less corruptible federal bureau keep control of the fragile desert than to a state official or small group of state officials that would be easily greased.

It’s understandable that you, as a conservative/neoconservative, would believe the rich should be able to destroy the public lands for profit, but people of reason do not.

The Nevada desert has suffered enough with nuclear testing and other weapons tests. It should be given the opportunity to heal.

The petty-bourgeoise would be creating jobs just fine if the rich hadn't already taken all their money.

What would your "preferred government" do to someone who was completely worthless, in your view?

Assuming they couldn't be kept ignorant enough to serve as pliable labourers, I would eat them personally. It isn't a tragedy to die. Only to be wasted.

I do love and worship with active work to redeem our maligned Saviour, the holy spirit of Venus with her clement and august son, Divine God Divus Iulius Caesar Christós, who took all burdens upon himself, died for our sins and was displayed on the cross.

We have a social housing shortage in Britain, and yet there is enough private accommodation standing empty to house everyone who needs it. The Ministry of Defense is a culprit; thousands of homes standing empty.

Tenants already set the price, its not like we're talking a monopoly here with all those landlords. They offer a product and the market place sets the price.

Sure the landlord can set an unrealistic price, but why would anyone rent it?

I could offer bottles of water for $50, only fools would buy it.

Fortunately I'm not that arrogant that I would consider measuring someone's 'worth'. I'll leave that to the smug conservatives.

It's not that I resent my Cold War generation getting older to the point of dying off. I mean you are born, you live, you learn, you grow old, your generation begins to expire and meanwhile the next generation takes over . . . and then begin becoming the very same ideological bug-a-bear of your youth in their warped and clueless leftwing way.

Capitalism is not something you just turn on and off at will and whim; not if you want what your nation thereafter becomes to be something worth living in. I don't resent the process of getting old and dying but I wonder how the forking Marxists won after their own empire went belly up . . . due to Marxism, mind you. So the Soviet Union no longer exists but their spiritual off-spring are busy trying to turn the United States of America into the same sort of crap-hole that the Soviet Union became as they prove that they not only don't grasp the principles of capitalism -- and it seems could care less about individual freedoms -- and demonstrate a terror of actually competing in anything resembling a free market of supply and demand.

I don't resent it because I am too busy being bemused over the titanic amount of irony inherent in the situation. Collectively we saved your leftwing asses from the horrors of Marxism only to see you grow up in luxury and become(as an identifiable group) so spineless and so utterly terrified at the thought of competing and struggling as a FREE PEOPLE that you'd rather gut capitalism than embrace it and use it as the vehicle to improve not only your own lot in life but to ensure that your offspring (those that you don't abort that is) have a future worth living in. Nice!

The "horrors of Marxism" were instrumental in changing the direction of the war against fascism, and without them the outcome was by no means a given. 24 million of those 'horrors' gave their lives so that we could live comfortably in our smug, middle-class paradise of capitalism. WW2 claimed around 60 million lives. Nearly half were Russians.

You think that is news to me? What's interesting is that the current generation wants to urinate all over those sacrifices and embrace the same ideological horrors that began the process in the first place.

I really don't get this thread. The cost of rent IS set by the tenant. If a place won't rent because no one is willing to pay the price then the rent is reduced. If someone is willing to pay what is asked then they pay for it. What is the problem? That is how markets work.

The problem is there are not enough George Zimmermans :)worship:) in this country and these accidents from a crack whore are being born faster than we can "fix" them.

I think the OP meant "the cost of rent should be set by the government". That seems like what they were getting at.
