Ok you liberals, you elect these people, and it is this kind of Mod Edit ~ Rule 9/Circumventing profanity filter loon that will push America off the cliff. I can't believe sane people actually elected this goofy woman, she actually makes Nancy Pelosi seem smart.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...ia-minimum-wage-to-26-hour/?intcmp=latestnews

California Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee, one her party’s most progressive members, thinks her home state should increase its minimum wage to as much as $26 an hour.

Great idea! More $$ in the hands of employees means they can afford to go out and spend more which will improve the economy. It's a win win.

The ones who get fired and lose their job because the labor is not worth 26 an hour would disagree.

I will not speak harshly of this lady's lack of intellectual capacity. It clearly is caused by the dehydration from the AGW-caused 400 year record drought in California that has her sounding nutty as a fruit cake.

I really hope they implement this policy post haste.
The citizens of California have suffered for far to long.

To my California friends....To escape the insanity, get in your Prius and drive east until someone asks you what kind of car that is. :)

I heard a mildly amusing talk radio bit about Californians and their Prius today. The host pointed out that they will purchase and drive a prius everywhere while bragging about how kind they are being to the environment and then drive it to the airport whereupon they will board a jet that spews toxic this and that high into the air to increase Global Warming or Global Cooling or whatever the Global whatsit is supposed to be this decade.

Gee CB, why stop at $26.00 an hour? Why not make it $50.00 an hour? They could spend almost twice as much.

Well, I'm liberal, and I wouldn't go near this woman with a ten foot pole. 28 dollars is WAY to much for a minimum wage.

We should use math and such to figure out how much the minimum wage would be today compared to when it was started, taking inflation into account. Then, we should not increase it at all except for a annual raise due to inflation.

I hear from various posters that have already done the math that right now, that would be around 9-10 dollars an hour.

So, no, not all liberals are the same, just as not all conservatives are the same.

Yep she's an idiot. Newt is grinning like a wolf in that still because he knows he's up against an idiot.

Edit: Why yes, I do own a Prius.

Well somebody voted her into office, and I can guarantee it wasn't conservatives

BTW, minimum wage in California is already $10 an hour. What would you wager that $10 an hour doesn't do jack (*)(*)(*)(*) to get these career minimum wage earners off of welfare as liberals had predicted? Small business is just going to get smaller, wait and see

I think Cowboy Bob is actually Nancy Pelosi in real life :roflol:

Hey, I totally understand it was mostly liberals that voted her in. I live in AZ, so I am not one of them.

And thanks for bringing up something we would have to take into account with a minimum wage, the cost of living.

I expect that many states would have to adjust their state version of the minimum wage to accommodate any increase in cost of living, and I'm okay with that.

So in two years and the welfare rolls don't go down but increase, are you still OK with the liberal meme that it would go down? Also in a few years, when small business starts cutting back, and those businesses that need to charge more to keep their doors open, who do you think that will effect?

I admit what you could say might happen, and that would be bad.

But I don't see us cutting welfare and other assistance programs either. No way that we, as a country, have the grapefruits to take extreme measures to deal with what you would call lazy people. So, since I know we would have to pay, one way or the other, I would like to try to find options that would cover the most number of people while costing me the least.

You just can't FORCE people to be responsible, at least in the USA. We have way too much independence to 'allow' others to dictate how we live OUR lives.

So how do you think our nation got this way? In a 12 step program, it is called enabling.

Fair enough. I can see where you are coming from.

But how do you plan to convince enough people to agree with your way of thinking to actually get the laws changed?

I'm all for a gradual shift, but from what I've read, it seems many conservatives want cold turkey therapy. And there aren't nearly enough people in this country that agree with that.
