Is Sen. John McCain a flip-flopper? Did he support a trade of five Taliban fighters for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl back in February, only to turn around and denounce it once the deal was made?

The Fact Checker began looking into this issue earlier this week, and the McCain team has been pushing back hard. Spokesman Brian Rogers issued a statement accusing the media of “selectively” quoting McCain, while McCain himself went on CNN’s “The Lead” on Thursday to defend himself after host Jake Tapper highlighted his contradictory statements the day before. McCain focused on the fact that his support was dependent on “the details.”

McCain was once a fairly smart man, but I believe his days are numbered in the world of reality, half the time he seems to be arguing with himself, and don't even get me started on the Mossegirl that has only one trick, Foot in Mouth.

 

There's a whole website of quotes from Righy "outrage leaders" talking favorably about trading Gitmo detainees for American POWs....or more specifically favorably towards Bergdahl....or more hypocritically, attacking President Obama for "not doing more to secure the release of Bergdahl"....

all the Usual Suspects.....from McCain to James Inhofe to The Spokesmodel to Allen West to that most supreme of hypocrites on "cash for hostages" charges....Oliver North.

Did you know that the president does need to notify Congress 30 days before releasing any prisoners from Gitmo, and the SecDef is also required to provide assurances that the released prisoners will not be in a position to threaten the US and its interests in the future?

Did you know that Obama & Co. broke the law he signed not once but twice?

Saying that one could support it "depending on the details" is not saying he's 100% on board with the idea.

he knew the details, he mentioned them and was agreeing with the trade based on them, none of the details changed... these comments were from the end of Feb this year

the only detail that changed, was the trade happened sense his last comments earlier this year...

Apparently not as he made an outstandingly bad deal all on his own, though he was required to inform Congress of the deal
by law (but since when does Barry "Lightworker" Obama worry about a little thing like the rule of law?).

To say we had no evidence against the five Taliban commanders though is just plain asinine. By virtue of being leaders of an outlaw group of war criminals, in and of itself, means we had lots of evidence against them, I can't account for such an absurd charge.
