What is your background? How far back have you traced your family tree? I am mostly of British, Irish, Scandinavian, Italian, French, and Dutch descent.
Well I thought I was 100% dutch..but then I did a dna test into my ancestry, it turns out sometime in the last 250yrs I aquired a melonesian/polynesian ancestor....my mothers family has been traced back a 300 hundred years and my fathers much much further and there's still no clue as to where that oceanean dna came from...
The most tracable of my ancestry is late 1600s Scottish. I'm from the McCurdy clan. I am British, German, Scot, and Choctaw Indian. There may be more, but I have never tried to research it. All of my great grand parents were Texans, so I'll stick with that. I can't believe I slipped up and allowed one of my kids to be born in New Mexico, only 8 miles from Texas.
I did an ancestry test. The results were like 40 percent Northern European, 40 percent Eastern European and the rest Southern European. But pure European all around, no non-whites in my tree. - - - Updated - - - It almost worthless to say that because there was so much race mixing before and after the ROman Empire. - - - Updated - - - It probably shows. Some anomaly you always sensed was probably explained, like a flatter nose bridge, eye folds or some other Asian trait. Once you mix with another race the children will have those traits for eternity. You might want to check out this website www.theapricity.com and go to the anthropology forum and post a picture of yourself and have them classify you. I bet people will notice the Asian. For instance, this guy is supposedly 100 percent NAzi German Aryan but its very obvious he has Asian ancestors from the mongol invasions: https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608004645916512240&pid=15.1&P=0 Its obvious in his eyes and forehead morphology.
Btw, dutch people are very mixed with slavs, lots of borrebys from the mixing of the middle ages. - - - Updated - - - Dutch colonies?
I encourage you to talk a 23andMe ancestry test to get an in depth knowledge of your ancestry because English is kind of vague. England was invaded by many different groups.
I should. I joke that because I have dupuytrens contracture (tradition has it that the disease originated with the Vikings) that our relatives were either Vikings or at least raped by them.
I disagree with that, a lone asian would be swamped gentically, the genetic contributipn of a single asian parent would see their genetic contributionreduced by 50% with each succeeding generation...I wouldnt be physically mistaken for anything a typical dutchman ive zero oriental features ...only one of my four children looks distinctly oriental despite mrs wyly being chinese, one has 50% oriental features the other two are as european looking as their dad except darker hair... Although my one grandmother had the most unusual hair for a dutchman, black, coarse and kinky....
Polish and German on Dad's side (Grandpa is 100% Polish and Great-Grandma came over to the US with her 13 kids before WW2 broke out.) Mom's side I am pretty are Irish and English, maybe a little French too? Not really sure. I know more about my Dad's side of the family because my dad actually researches it and tells me, my mom's side doesn't care too much so we're not very sure... I am 100% American though. lol
English DNA matches up genetically linguistically as predominantly NW europe, Frisian/Saxon...there are other contributors but they've been swamped by that post roman migration from NW corner of the continent...genetics of Scotland wales and Ireland would be different i believe as that migration didnt effect those regions as much...
yeah nationality isn't the same as genetic background...my nationality is dual dutch/canadian, but citizenship is political....ethnically/genetically im less than 50% "dutch", my mother was frisian/saxon and my father dutch with a wee bit of melonesian....whih just goes to show that people are mutts whatever their nationality...
my dreadlocks are a reflection of a celtic heritage and the alliance/oath with the afrikan hebrews against the romans.
Yup. I'm a mutt, a really, pale skinned, white mutt though. lol So white that I have a vitamin D deficiency and the sun BURNS when I go out into it (highly prone to skin cancer too says the doctor). Thanks European heritage!
Maternal side is from Yorkshire with a great grandmother who was a Russian emigrant Jew who escaped the pogroms early last century and married a Scotsman. Paternal side is largely southern although it's more of a colonial family as we've lived most of the time overseas. Hong Kong being the last place. And both sides have had a long history of state service. largely a British family.
A dna search of your fathers ancestry could prove interesting having a colonial background who knows what's lurking in your dna...I expected a solid european background the melonesian dna was a shocker...
You might not be aware of it. Anthropologists will notice. Bingo. Yep this is exactly what I was referencing. I'' give you some celebrity examples. Angelina Jolies mother has a proven Asian ancestor from around the 1600s hundreds yet you can see she her eyes are partially slanted even 400 plus years later. Angelina did not inherit the slanted eyes and looks 100 percent European but this is not typical.
Well my granddad hasn't really talked much about his family but the furthest back is his father who was a fireman in Newfoundland. The details are a bit scarce beyond that. The interesting thing is though is that both my father and I can withstand the heat better than many of my fellow countrymen. But yes it could be interesting to see what I'm made of so to speak. So with your Melanesian DNA does it show? Or is it kind of lurking in the background? I bet there's an interesting story there.
Do you have an example of a pure dutch cro magnon/faelish person? Anthropologists have been trying to find one and its virtually impossible. The most pure faelish looking person they can find is Heidi Klum over on the apricity. They are not just mixed with slavs, but all European ethnicities. Many like meditteranean people. Example: http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Famke-Janssen-famke-janssen-779991_500_375.jpg If you don't know about anthropology I will give you a primer. Dutch people tend to have strong, robust facial features which you likely have considering you are dutch. Rebeca Romijn is an example. btw its a lie or myth that there are pure ethnicities. I bet your ancestry test shows you have ancestry from all over Europe.
German. Both sides of my family came from Germany (Mother's side in the 1920's Fathers side in 1951). My great grandfather served in WWII as a Field Marshal. His son Manfred came to the USA after the war with his mother (My great grandmother).
Highest frequencies: Yakuts 75%, Nenets 75%, Finns 60%, Baltic States 45% (McDonald 2005), Saami 40%, East Prussian Germans 28%, Russians 20% (Malyarchuk 2004)
German on my mother's side. Scottish and English on my father's side. My maiden name is a Scottish name respelled for the USA. And my younger kids have got the German for sure---my husband lineage is almost pure german. His relatives came over in 1918 and settled in a German community in Kansas.
Nothing shows physically in any of my 7 siblings...7 blue eyed, 6 blonde 1 red head...and 1 green eyed blonde....my fathers family date back 700 yrs...his siblings had black hair blue eyes, if the melonesian ancestry came into that branch it would've come from a returning colonial family and a great granddaughter marrying into the family...his mother is a mystery, dark kinky hair but she was an orphan from an Amsterdam orphange and long dead, a dead end for genetic search, hair may or may not be a melonesian origin, its not typically dutch...the test results have our family genealogists in a "wtf"! mode...
my daughter is an anthropologist she says I'm absolutely typical nordic... but then I have cousin with similar hair only blonde on my mothets side of the family...it's unusual but not impossible...I agree with you she is the most likely the source... oriental's eyes aren't slanted, they have an epicanthal fold, mrs wyly 100% chinese has almost none, epicanthal folds are also found in africa among the San and in some european populations, so its not exclusive to orientals...
