Hmm. Interesting. There aren't a lot of dutch Nordics. That is a rare phenotype but I bet you have some cromagnon in you. You are probably tronder (mix of Nordic, cromagnon) because pure Nordics really don't exist, not even in appearance.

I know lots about anthropology thanks, it was my major in university ...dna origin doesnt matter much, after a few hundred years genetic drift and geographical isolation causes everyone to resemble each other, any new DNA will be swamped by the larger population...insert a few blonde blue eyed dutchies in Bejing and 5 generations all trace of them will be gone, the same applies in reverse...I know a few Indians with english colonial ancestors, the only trace of those englishmen left now are their surnames...

Well, both of my parents are Irish. My mother's maiden last name was Brieske and my dad's last name was Hogan. His real father was a wife beating Irish drunk whose last name was Hogan so my grandmother, whose maiden name was Trythall (Liverpool, UK), remarried German immigrant Arthur Straus in Milwaukee, WI.

I never met my biological grandfather. No loss. He was reportedly a drunken and wife beating Irish sot. He died when I was quite young. My father went to his funeral. I have no idea were he is buried.

The person that I revere as my grandfather is Arthur Straus, a real estate developer in Milwaukee,WI. He was an immigrant German Jew, but he cared deeply for the Catholic church and he cared deeply about St. Roberts Parish in Shorewood, WI.. He was a very fine person who worked extremely hard to become successful. He married my grandmother and always cared for her and my father. His favorite Christmas song: Ave Maria. They had a beautiful home on Hackett Av. in Shorewood, WI.

I miss the Christmas parties. They were a wonderful get together.

Thanks, so much. My grandfather had his faults. But he always took care of my grandmother, my father and my mom.

He was a very successful Milwaukee real estate developer. He donated the land for the Milwaukee Jewish Community Center.

I'm proud that he was my grandfather.

Overall, studies show that the Dutch people of the Netherlands possess Y-DNA haplogroups in approximately the following frequencies:

E1b1b: 4.5% (ultimately stems from the Middle East and North Africa)
    G2a: 2.5%
    I1: 18.5% (their second-most prevalent Y haplogroup)
    I2a: 1%
    I2b: 6%
    J2: 6%
    N1c1: 0.5%
Q: 0.5% (common in Siberia and Central Asia)
    R1a: 6%
R1b: 53.5% (by far their most prevalent Y haplogroup, and very common throughout Western Europe)
    T: 1%

On my mother's side, English, Scottish, Dutch and Scandinavian. Almost all fair-haired and blue or grey eyed.

On my father's side, German, Irish, and Cherokee.

Its true. There are quite a few blond haired, blue eyed people here in Oklahoma---still able to take advantage of Indian services . Usually they are at the 1/8th indian mark.

Quite a mutt. Mostly Northern European (Irish, Scottish, English, Swedish, Lithuanian - if you count the last as northern or eastern is up to you), and a little bit of Blackfoot.

    Mostly German and Irish.

The Germans came from Alsace-Lorraine. Mid 19th century. Settled in Rome, NY. They were the Hydes and Ulriches. In Europe, I've seen the spellings Hyd and Heid, as well as Ulrick or Ulrik. Some of them high-tailed it out west in the 1860s from Rome (I wonder why?) and settled here in Idaho.

The Irish were from County Galway. They also made their way west and found Idaho. Joyce was the name.

That was Dad's side. Mom's side is totally Irish, black Irish they claim, and settled in New Orleans. Most of that side is still there. Quiad.

So good that Europeans usually can trace their blood line to several hundred years ago, and oftenly cover three to four countries in their family tree....

All I know is that my grandparents of my mom side were from shanghai and my dad side were from canton, which means both from south china, and NO MORE...=___=

as long as church records weren't destroyed in the many wars...and if there was an aristocratic link very far back, 1000+ years

I'm testing my chinese brother in law see if any interesting genetic facts turn up there, most likely south chinese...

Thanks for telling me that^^ it's interesting that churches help to keep families history!

And several thousand years ago, southern chinese mixed a lot with Vietnam natives

I think northern chinese and southern chinese are basically...two different races

People who natively live in the provinces of north east like....shandong, liaoning and heilongiang which capital is Harbin, their features quite similar to north Europeans

Like whiter skin, higher nose, taller height, and more adaptable to alcohol

when Charlemagne supported the roman catholic church militarily in the eighth century it became the supreme spiritual authority it became the record keeper of anything associated with religion, births and marriages came church control, they documented everything...it wasn't until relatively recently that civil authorities became the official record keepers...

genetically there is a northern and southern china distinction...about 70% of china can be classified as northern chinese linked to early migrations through siberia..the southern obviously influenced by migrations from south east asia...

I'm half Christian and half Hindu. Oh, wait - only Jews can somehow magically be a faith that is also genetic. Nevermind.

English, Welsh, Irish, Scottish, German, Cherokee (but not enough to matter for the purposes of benefits etc) Hispanic (again not enough to qualify).
And that's just in America. Son of the American Revolution, and the same with the Texas Revolution ;) << Always thought that was pretty cool. My first ancestor came over on the mayflower, and the next set came over in Georgia in a debtor's prison :p

If the geneologists are to be believed I ultimately derive my ancestry from the queen of the britons and a roman emperor. Or rather the clan as a whole does. But that sounds like fluff to me.

most definitely fluff there were no accurate birth and marriage records kept back then...and don't be taken in by genetic testing companies claiming they can link you to some famous historical figure...we're all related so of coarse we're all related to some historical figure...

I may very well be related to Charlemagne, an excellent paper trail of births from Charlemage up to 1400ad and a paper trail of births from now back to 1400 for myself, both trails leading to the same noble estate/location but that one final piece of documentation to definitively nail it remains elusive(bastard heirs were often not officially acknowledged by church records)...I like to think of myself as the legitimate Emperor of western europe but 30 million other descendents might dispute that ...

An ancestor traced our family tree through Wales, Scotland, Normandy, and Denmark. My mother's name is one of the oldest in Europe and came from the Danish Vikings. I also have some Sami-Finish-Swedish roots and have Dutch in laws. Light skin, blue eyes and blond to light brown hair predominate in our family. Our grand daughter has blue eyes and red hair with blond patches. A Danish geneticist discovered blue eyed people are descended from a mutation occurring around the Black Sea about 9,000 years ago, give or take some years. So, I am a blue eyed son of mutants,
