More than racism, I think the current political situation boils down to philosophy of groups vs. individuals. It is no secret that the Democrats tend to look after the welfare of groups. They want to take care of blacks, hispanics, etc as a group. Whereas the Republicans tend to look after the welfare of individuals and not so much groups. It is the individual that is important to them.

Just checking on something ... are there any racists of any race in the Democrat Party and will the Party inevitably purge them or continue to exploit them for gain?

Republicans are 90% White, Democrats 60% White, and the nation is 63.7% White, a percentage that is continually shrinking.

Black, Hispanic, and other minorities vote at least as intelligently as everyone else.

For those reasons, as an existential imperative, the GOP must change to reflect America.

 

It's the same laws for white or blacks or any other. If there is a problem it's with the juridical system and how they hand down the punishments. Not congress or senate but locally.
Most of the blacks problems have nothing to do with the white man or congress or the senate. Culture, leaders, role models, where the hell are they. If a black man does well for himself and talks in a manner to show he is educated he is looked down upon by others in his community. That has nothing to do with the Right wing. But the truth doesn't benefit the left wing does it? The left wing need to keep them dependent. If they ever realize that they can make it all by their own hard work and without lefty whiteys help what good will he to them?

 

Sure. I agree. He's talking about perceptions, not reality. People like YOU have worked very hard to drive these false perceptions of the GOP (no slam, that's your job, you're very tenacious if nothing else), and the GOP needs to do some things to disprove the lies and convince those who have been lied to, else the lies become perceived reality. To that extent, I agree.

You wanna help the inner cities? Instead of teaching crap like liberal arts. Teach them how to run and operate small businesses. Give them hope and skills that will allow them to become their own boss. Employee others. Maybe even their family. One small company can left dozens of family up. But no!!! Let's teach them liberal crap.

 

And how does he propose CHANGING that "perception"? By stopping talk of trying to control the voting of minorities to stop them from voting Democratic...and instead try to win minority voters over to the GOP.

But in the first part of that he's ADMITTING that recent moves by the GOP on things like "voter ID"....are not "outreach"....but attempts at "suppression".

BTW, there are blatent racist posters on the blogs...guys who cite "studies" that "blacks have lower IQs" and "blacks are predispostitioned to crime...especially raping white women"....

They want it both ways. They want poor people in inner cities, where a severe shortage of middle class jobs are, to "lift themselves up by their boostraps", but they don't want to give them the tools to do so. When looking at welfare or any other government program, if all you can see is the short term dollar sign instead of the long term benefits, then you lack critical thinking skills and the empathy needed to advance America into the 21st century.

The solutions to our nation's problems are not right or left, black or white. They require long term thinking and investment, and a willingness to think outside the box in ways we haven't before.

Rightwinger- "We need to help the poor by teaching them skills to start their own businesses"

Logical Person- "So you're willing to pay more in taxes and spend more money on educating the poor to learn skills....as well as provide them with the business loans they need....given they have neither nor can afford either now?"

Rightwinger- "Hell no.....no more freebies and hand-outs from the Gub'mint!"

Carpentry? Gun making? Welding? That would certainly explain a lot. Yes, the inner cities are rife - RIFE! - with roving mobs of Jesuits teaching 'liberal arts crap' to dragooned youth.

We pay enough. How about using the money that goes to the liberal art programs. Use the money going to teach crap like psych and other crap. Teach real skills. Stop wasting time teaching them Spanish and French. He they want to learn that crap they can in college. We are teaching English speaking kids Spanish and French. Then turn around and teach Spanish kids English. WFT? Waste of money. Teach them not just how to keep a check book but how a manage a company. Even if they never have their own they could manage someone's else's.
Keep them that they don't need whitey and his sympathy and hand outs. Give them the skills they need to make it today in America and watch pride grow. Not here some free stuff sorry about slavery. We white people are here for you poor things.
