    Yet they are more free than us, by many different metrics and according to sources ranging from the left to the right. Your objections, things like, "well if not for 'Murica, they wouldn't be democracies", are irrelevant to that fact. 1)Democracy (what you really mean is Republic) is not synonymous with freedom. 2)We are talking about what IS, not what might have been. Also, in case you haven't been paying attention for the past several decades, our government ignores the bill of rights whenever they feel like it. From "free speech zones" to warrantless NSA spying. And let's not forget that good old 'Murica imprisons more people than any other country in the world (note: ALL other counties, even the "bad guys"). By most definitions, imprisonment is the opposite of freedom. I could suck it up and be called a "subject" if it meant more REAL freedom. Sticks and stones. You seem to put more stock in empty words than in reality.

    Let's not confuse civil freedom [which exists within laws and rules] and anarchy.

    Anarchy is not freedom, but a form of "self slavery". Total freedom cannot exist and the civil freedom that the United States offer to their citizens is among the best ones around the world.

    Regarding the matter of the two parties, from an Italian perspective [where in the last 20 years we have seen the creation of about 10 new wide parties, may of them have already died!] I can agree in part, underlining that we envy the US system where the government is stable and the parliament sees a certain majority. We are just thinking to change Italian constitution to cause a visible reduction of the parties in the parliament.

    They want us to believe that our rights are what they give to us, they are not. These are rights given by God and any laws that infringe upon these rights should be ignored till they can be nullified during the second Revolution.

    I believe representatives of foreign States should enjoin more faithful execution of our own laws by our representatives to Government, simply because we have a McCarthy era phrase in our pledge.

    What? The US influencing Euro countries? Ha ha ha what a bunch of navelistic codswallop.

    The Euro countries are something like 5 times older than yours. They have enough of a rich background to influence themselves.

    Oh he exists all right, and never ceases convincing people of their superiority in what they are and what they have. Today he deceives with a misuse of terms such as 'democracy' and 'freedom'.

    I'm old enough to recall when democracy was considered an anecdote to wars, and maybe it would be if we really had it rather than Washington's manipulative mind control in convincing people that really have something when they really don't. It's a misuse of terms.

    Since the poster talks about being in the one country from which he assumed it was safe to post that, it seems reasonable to believe they are located stateside. Good to know about the CIA though. Guess we're not as a safe as the poster thought.

    Unlike RT which posts speeches exactly like they are without spins, Fox only had parts of Lavrov's speech, and like the following quote, put its spins in between, when they know very well it's the demonizing and lies of the U.S. towards Vladimir Putin which has turned the Russian people against the West.


    "...Lavrov's assault appeared to be an extension of the increasingly anti-Western stance of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is riding a wave of popularity at home with his neo-nationalist rhetoric and policies..."

    The article mentioned the German minister's propaganda about Crimea, even though that too was a lie just like Obama's lies, since the people of Crimea held a referendum to free themselves from the American imposed junta in Kiev and to unite with Russia. Therefore it was completely legal and within international law, while the U.S. and Germany's interference in Serbia which changed the boundaries in Europe, and the seventy eight day bombing of Belgrade was completely outside of international law and therefore a crime.

    Notice also how they used the word 'assault', when Lavrov's speech was anything but an assault, while the lies and false accusation's in Obama's speech, and the German minister's speech for that matter would definitely be considered an assault.

    True, we don't get an unfiltered, unbiased version of such things in our major media outlets. That basic point, if someone was making it, stands. But then again, people are free to watch and read whatever they like here, including RT.

    I wish we could make such claims as being unique. In a positive, good for humanity fashion.

    What is actually unique, in a negative manner is how we have regressed from a Republic into an Oligarchy, with only the illusion of the Republic still in existence.

    We are unique in being the most war like state on earth, spending more than more than the rest of the world on what we call "defense" which is actually offense.

    America is not a shining light on a hill, not these days. Perhaps we once were. If all nations acted like us, with our military industrial complex, the entire earth would be one vast heap of rubble.

    Oh, before I get attacked, I volunteered, not drafted for the Viet Nam War. Then much later, after surviving it, but losing several friends, I learned of the false flag of the Gulf of Tonkin incident. I have not felt the same about this America since that time. Unique? Give me a break. We cannot make such claims unless we are denoting by that the sheer evil we have committed. And continue to commit.

    There is a lot of support from the Evangelical converts to the Orthodox Church, both Syrian Orthodox and Russian Orthodox. I don't think they're completely silent on the issues.

    I'm afraid the U.S. has reached a point of no return. I realized that from the moment Obama became president and continued the policies of the Clinton administration. At one time I thought Clinton was only a temporary evil, but now I know that to undo the damage he did, would take at least fifty years if at all, considering the way our congress works.

    Pres. Clinton affected our relations with Russia when he went against Russia's veto at the U.N. and illegally entered a civil war in Serbia under a pretense of genocide. It was never proven and it threw two hundred and thirty thousand Serbs into refugee camps, not to mention thousands of deaths as well.

    Today he flaunts that war to the American people as a successful war, when he knows it was based on lies and that the damage done because of it are irreparable. Clinton was also the one who started the social changes in our colleges, destroying the values, which has been the basis of our nation for two hundred and fifty years.

    When you add to this his wife's connections to Monsanto and how the GMO's have affected America's food supply, it becomes obvious that Clinton, and now Obama's damage to the U.S. and by extension the world is inconceivable.

    This is true and this is what we do, gathering truth about what happens in the world. I have to admit, I trusted more to mainstream media reports until recent events in Ukraine, when I was really astonished with lies and distortions. It was eyes opening to me, because I was well familiar with that part of the world. Now, I revise all what I thought I "knew", watching commercial news channels.

    Craig Roberts made a list of all the lies the American people have been fed over the years, and then gave his grave assessment:

    When Americans "just follow orders", we are in real trouble.

    How would I know if I'm being monitored? Why do people respond to hyperbole, and theoretical comments, as if it were a serious comment? And in reference to not having a bill of rights, I was specifically referring to Australia; however, it does matter how old a Nation is, clearly most of Europe was influenced by an American style democracy--both directly (Germany) and indirectly (France). Are you really going to argue with that?

    1. a republic is a type of democracy, they are not mutually exclusive
    2. My enunciation is just fine. I'm not some uneducated person who says "Murica"
    3. You can't tell me a single American who has had their life interrupted by NSA collection
    4. Perhaps America should reform aspects of the criminal justice system. That ps one matrix to measure level of freedom. Another is how many countries have sought to replicate your freedom in their systems. Do I really need to list them out for you? It came in six waves:

    From 1776-1811, after the American Revolution began, it influenced northwestern Europe and its colonial connections.
    1811-1848, after the decline of Napoleon's reputation, it was referenced by Latin American, Caribbean, and European nationalists.
    1898-1918, after the Spanish American War, nationalist movements borrowed from the U.S. Constitution in Asia and Latin America.
    1918-1945, after World War I, its influence spread with movements for decolonization of Africa, Mid-east and Asia.
    1945-1974, after World War II, independence movements consulted it.
    1974-1989, after United Nations expansion, once nondemocratic regimes, including European ones, transitioned towards constitutional democracies incorporating elements of the U.S. Constitution.[1]

    I woke up to the lies with Syria because I knew that Assad unlike the others, was tolerant towards Christians and all minorities. I also knew from acquaintances that Syria had become quite lovely to live in. At first I thought the problems were solely because of Turkey's interference, but gradually I began to realize that we were just as heavily involved...and even more so.

    The first city with fighting was Homs because of its Turkoman majority, and one of the first actions the rebels took was to give notice to the sixty thousand Christians to leave or be killed. If these Sunni fanatics had gone into Damascus they would have killed all the Alawites and our government knew that. They just didn't care. Nor did the media care, they just followed Washington's line to a tee. :no:

    A republic is not a true democracy, but a proxy one. What we have is a republic. This is significant because just because you call yourself a republic doesn't mean that you have freedom. Such as the People's Republic of China or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. So when we're talking about freedom, it is a red herring to even mention "hey, we're a democracy!". That is a separate issue entirely.

    Moving the goalposts. First you say the Bill of Rights guarantees our freedoms. Then when I show you that it hasn't, you say it hasn't "interrupted people's lives". Come on now.

    Yep, and if they did that, we would move up on the freedom list. But that is fantasy. I am talking about what is real here and now, not what we could do.


    Yes, we USED TO BE very free, such that others would seek to emulate us. They have since surpassed us. We can't just rest on those laurels, the vast majority of which occurred before any of us were born. You're talking ancient history.

    You can't be serious? I was just in Moscow last year. Freedom only thrives for those who follow Putin. If a Russian citizen speaks too loudly or too frequently against Putin or the Russian government that person's freedom will be limited, very limited, as they wait in jail for their trail.

    As for Ukraine, I knew from a Byzantine Catholic forum the hatred the Western Ukrainians had for the Russians. Victoria Nuland used the American NGO's to manipulate those people so they could take control of the whole country for the benefit of Washington as well as the oligarchs who worked with them. Once it became obvious the media wasn't giving me the news only Washington's warped version, I began looking for sites on the internet. I guess I'm not the only one because they say the main stream news outlets are losing scores of people.
