    Don't liberals hate fast food?

Seems like a good plan to do away with exactly what they want to do away with.

"Hey, idiots. Good news. We got you much higher pay. Better news is that we did away with your job entirely. Now you have more free time to write poems. That's what poor people do right?" -some liberal elitist.

Spare me your disingenuous and uneducated diatribe.

    $5/hr x 40 hrs = 200/ week = 800/month.

I hate to burst your bubble but someone having to support themselves on this much money frankly .. is not surviving. There is no HBO because not only can they not afford Cable but they can not afford a place to live and eating at the same time.

Do you actually think about this silly fairy tale world you are making up or do you actually think it is reality ?

Well spare us your disingenuous diatribe then

First off, 7.25 is minimum wage so your new monthly is closer to $1200
Second, this is where you get a room mate or two.....................like the rest of us did when we started out

why is it you think minimum wage is meant to be the GOOD LIFE?

In Italy [you can check it on McDonald's site] a common worker earns for 24 hours a week [so brief job] 814,35€ per month. A 40 hours contract means to earn about 1100€ per month. This means [according to variable exchange rate € / $] between 8.20 and 8.70$ per hour.

That sounds like what a greedy owner of a few McDs would say. In response I would say such an attitude exploits human beings, and the excuse given is making the owner a couple mil a year.

If a business owner cannot pay his employees enough to live on, he should be seen as a criminal and thrown into jail, for exploiting living breathing human beings who are not lucky enough to not have to work for their bread.

If you cannot own a business and pay a living wage, you should not open that business. If the demand for the product is there, someone will step in to fill that vacuum and pay a living wage in the process. The trouble is, the gov't has let these greedy men get away with exploiting others for so long, that they fell entitled to do it.

The lengths some people will go to try to conceal their greed is tremendous. These people do not deserve to live in any human, civilized society, and are just as criminal if not more than the guy who steals chickens.

Omnipotence must be quite the burden.

Or is it possible that you don't know the lives of each and every person willing to work for 5 dollars an hour?

I know plenty of people who would do that for supplemental income. Case in point, I can't remember the last time my son supported my entire family. (never) But him spending his own 200 dollars a month on the things he needs sure would take a load off my wallet. Yeah, that's just 10 hours a week while he goes to school.

I know, since he can't live on that, why don't you send me 200 bucks a month so that I can make sure he has enough Monster energy drinks and pizza to get him through finals.

---I tell my employees that we don't do anything for the customer that they cannot do for themselves at home. What the customer pays for is convenience and hospitality. People have forgotten that these days and that is why people can be replaced by machines. If a so called burger flipper is going to make more money it won't be by turning more meat. It will be through exceptional service that builds brand loyalty in your local market. This is lost on people when profits are determined by volume rather than quality.

    ---It's a shame. Really.

---The other side of that coin though is that the scorn heaped upon "burger flippers" does not send the message that they are in the hospitality industry. It has been bastardized into a "service" industry.

It's a shame that you think it's a point entirely lost on the customer.

When shopping for a quick meal, I don't think to myself: Which meal will be the fastest?

There are a handful of problems with that. First off, you're using exchange rates, and not counting for purchasing power parity. Yes, the exchange rate for the adult minimum wage in Australia (more on that later) is about $16 in US currency. However, $16 US dollars will not buy in Australia as much as it will buy in the US. In fact, $16USD won't even go as far in Australia as $10USD will in the US. So that $16USD, when you account for purchasing power, is actually more like $9.77. In other words, the same currency in Australia will only buy 61% of what it would in the U.S. When accounting for purchasing power, there are only nine countries in the world with a higher minimum wage than the U.S.

The problem with that? Well, some of those countries have more complex wage systems. For example, Australia's adult minimum wage is $16USD, but their teenage minimum wage is $8USD (or $4.88 after accounting for purchasing power). So, not surprisingly, McD's almost exclusively employs teenagers in Australia.

Our minimum wage is not low.

with welfare it does... but the idea is to get people off welfare right?

what is the motivation to work if you don't even make a living wage?

we are the machine union. resistance is futile.

yeah, but you don't get people off welfare by fixing their wages to a rate that the market isn't willing to pay.

This is the part where you tell me you know more about what an individual needs than the individual does. Because you can do that right? Quite an amazing super power liberals think they possess.

Uh one thing though. Why is it that you think the only way out of welfare is through the minimum wage? Is everyone on welfare because they are dumb and unskilled? Everyone fits in groups right? Is that the group you think everyone on welfare is in? Do you think that they can't rise out of poverty unless they grab the very lowest rung first and then they have to stay there...forever!

Do you actually think the best people should be able to do is a burger flipper job?

You liberal minions need to own up to the fact that your overlords are corralling people into a permanent underclass because herds are easier to control when they're completely dependent on The Precious for their daily bread.
