Yes, such fallacies are not the sole domain of theists or conservatives or liberals or atheists nor regrettably the cable news media and partisan press. But, then again, the vast majority of people cannot identify when they are being fed such, making them very effective tools. After all it was Luntz who said "its not what you say, its what people hear".
No. If that was the intention, it went extremely wrong. As most who believe the bible, especially literally, don't do that. Thought that is.
