http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6188658.stm In July, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament - the Federation Council - approved a law which permits the Russian president to use the country's armed forces and special services outside Russia's borders to combat terrorism and extremism. At the same time, amendments to several other laws, governing the security services, mass media and communications, were adopted. The overall result was to dramatically expand those defined as terrorist or extremist. Along with those seeking to overthrow the Russian government, the term is also applied to "those causing mass disturbances, committing hooliganism or acts of vandalism". Much more controversially, the law also defines "those slandering the individual occupying the post of president of the Russian Federation" as extremists. so, Russia can kill anyone who slanders Russia, or slanders Putin? wow, sounds like Russia= Nazi Germany
At least it's legal? What do you call Obama's killing people with Drones? You don't seriously believe there are combatants fighting Americans in Yemen, Oman, Pakistan, and etc, through out the world do you?
The Parliament has handed over too much discretionary legal Power to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. As if Putin did not already have too much Power. When a democratic government allows too much power to become centralized in the hands of just a small group of people, that can lead to the end of real democracy.
The U.S. also took the act extended the powers of the President. Now America can conduct an aggressive policy without the approval of Congress.
The Obama administration has said, anyone close enough to the explosion of a hellfire missile to be killed or wounded is considered to be a combatant. I (*)(*)(*)(*) you not, they said it.
A sovereign country can do anything it wants to anybody, that's what sovereign means. "Course if Leichtenstein arrests Bush on the Hague warrants while he's on a river cruise you might just be finding out if an aircraft carrier can fit in the Danube.
And what about criminal liability and penalty in Ukraine for the fact that you don't recognize Russia as an aggressor? So if you do not think that Russia attacked Ukraine, you'll go to jail? And where is the freedom of speech and true democracy for which all Ukrainians are struggling? Funny things http://w1.c1.rada.gov.ua/pls/zweb2/webproc4_1?pf3511=53956
You guys need to stop beating off to the idea of Bush and Cheney being arrested and thrown in prison by enlightened European states. It's not going to happen.
