Oh the irony. That is precisely why I often ask people on this forum for PROOF of claims.

    The PROOF...is WORLDWIDE CHURCH CLOSINGS!!!

In the past if you were a kid with Christian Parents....you absolutely were FORCED by your parents to go to church every sunday and go to Sunday or Saturday School...etc.

NOW....the number of parents forcing kids to believing what they believe is dropping dramatically.

Many parents now allow the kids to decide what they beleive.

Well, I have four children: One of them is an ordained minister. None of them were forced to go to church, and none of them were forced to believe as I do. All of them were taught to be as autonomous as possible. They are all free thinkers and make their own decisions. The closing of secularized churches (501c3) is no big deal... as the true church does not need a building in which to Worship God. The true church is composed of members of the Body of Christ.

Of course I am not capable of understanding God, that is not what I said. I simply said I have proof of his existence. The same amount of proof you have for the ghost you claim to have seen.

"Every one of us human beings has two minds. One is totally ours, and it is like a faint voice that always brings us order, directness, purpose, The other mind is a foreign installation. It brings us conflict, self-assertion, doubts, hopelessness: it's ourselves as the me-me center of the world."

No!!! Cant be!!! Parents actually being parents? Nearly every child I know that was raised in a family where the dad wanted to be the kids friend more than his dad is either dead in prison or on skid row. I suppose if your child told you he wanted to grow up and be just like ted bundy or charlie Manson you would approve? Yes that was an extreme example to show that most parents will attempt to instil their values to their children, and most importantly protect them. Christians like myself know that not becoming a christian will result in a fate far worse than death, will indeed teach the child about Christianity. When they turn 18 they can do as they wish.

No, I think they are still doing the same thing. You know I bet there are some parents that still will force their kids not to play on the interstate or train tracks! How awful is that?

Young children are a clean slate that have no way to learn unless they are taught from some source. I want to be my child's source. I would teach my values and my morals to a child (by my I mean the family's). However if a child will be maladjusted and will fail if they do not have proper parenting or has not had enough time with his parents or has other issues ie mental health issues or abuse issues etc. If an older child is acting out etc say a 16 year old and does not want to abide by the house rules the child should leave or receive treatment for problems. Or he could leave like I did lol! Really a 17 year old wants to be a LeVay satanist in my home it would not happen, but if I had the dough I would help him get an apartment etc. Still I am not sure I could be around such a child, you know sacrificing virgins and all that, lol. Each case would be different.

I bet it depends on what they decide to believe!

Religious, sex, politics debates always get heated because both sides are trying to change minds that will not be changed, and frustration ensues. When entering debates like this, it is best to realize in the beginning, that you are not going to change others minds.

I don't have any issues with peoples right to believe in what they want as long as it does not hurt anyone.

But what I and many others have been experiencing is how Religious Zealots attemped to justify bad behavior all in the name of their Religious Ideology.

When Christian Groups such as this Baptist Church Group in my state of Massachusetts....start purposely setting up a PROTEST right next to the burial site of Killed in Action Members of the U.S. Military....as the Mom and Dad and Brothers and Sisters and Grandparents and other Family Members are crying and greiving for the loss of a young Man or Woman who HONERABLE SERVED THEIR COUNTRY in an attempt to keep safe the people living in their Nation.....and as the greiving family is having the WORSE DAY OF THEIR LIVES......right next to them is a group of Baptists screaming BABY KILLER!!! GAY RIGHTS LOVER!! YOUR SON WILL BURN IN HELL!!!

Well this is simply going too far.

I love how the OP bashes everyone who disagrees with him as some sort of negative person. I love how the OP tries to portray himself, or anyone who may agree with him, as the only positive people.

If only we would agree with the OP in all of his opinions all the time. Then the world would be a happy and harmonious place.

But it never works this way. Welcome to life, OP. People are going to disagree with you. That's just the way it is. In fact, forums such as these get their traffic because people disagree with each other and like to talk about it.

I also love how the OP thinks Christians are always so reasonable while everyone else is negative. Hey OP, are gay people trying to stop Christians from getting married? Can you get thrown in jail for possessing a Bible or can you get thrown in jail for possessing drugs? Do people try to ban abortion clinics or do they try to ban churches?

"Keep calm and return fire," huh? Is that because you're the only reasonable person?

your comparison is off, comparing all atheists as one, would be like comparing all theists as one

Christians disbelieve in all the same Gods Atheists do except one..... they are not so different in that respect.....

Religions are all attempts to explain the Monolith
    [IMG]

.......The Mystery of existence ...it also tries to manage existential anxiety the dynamic tension between wonder and terror at being alive ...Religion creates a dogmatic conceptual infrastructure that one buys into in order to benefit from less anxiety, questions answered and hope for a future afterlife.

Religious squabbles ensue because the existence of competing models or conceptual Paradigms of the Monolith creates more existential anxiety. More sources of dread and fear...do I have the Right model the right explanation for the monolith or does "the other" ?...competing Religious models creates those doubt and fears and as predator organisms we have a Fight/flight response to fear. We seek to move away from whatever causes us fear and/or we seek to destroy that which is causing us fear.

The fears and anxieties managed by Religion are used to manipulate folks because they are powerful tools of manipulation. The manipulators are seeking power and profit. So although Religious differences are on the surface the cause of conflict its seldom directly like that. Its manipulation of Religious issues to address the issue of division of lucre or assets and resources.

My paradigm or Religious metaphysical explanation to get me through is something I call the "Fiber optic Lamp model"

Our consciousness or existence in this model are the points of light at the tip of the fiber optic string. The Light of our existence of course eventually goes out however the source light does not go out ...the Big Light at the center always remains even though ones individual light is gone . I believe that the source Light is aware of me as I am aware of it...the Light I call Tetragrammaton which mean "four sounds of God' and it is an ancient Hebrew name for God...I also refer to the Source Light in the more modern name of OSOTU...which is an acronym for Operating System of The Universe.

Tetra or OSOTU bends in an rainbow of mercy compassion Justice and abundance. It is approachable by practicing consciously kindness and compassion towards others. It does take note of that and respects it ....It wants for you what you would want for you if you knew what Tetra does know....
