Gee whiz general, as someone who is so concerned about tradition and glorious American history I would've thought you'd be aware that the term when used in reference to black folks carries heavy historical baggage. But if you truly feel that it is your inalienable right to call black people 'monkeys' (and we know that there is no other inoffensive English term you could possibly use) then I strongly urge you exercise your freedom and liberty as an honourable soldier and call a fellow Af-Am service member that next time they do something stoopid.

I already (read back) said the girls behaviour was atrocious, awful, terrible, etc etc etc. There are - and maybe you should sit down Audie - ways to point that out without resulting to overtly and purposefully inflammatory racial insults.

Thought Experiment: General (or Colonel, etc) in military routinely calls black service members under his/her command 'monkeys' for doing stupid stuff. Promotion or censure?

Experiment 2: General in civilian clothes is sitting at bar off-base, surrounded by Af-Ams, watching Super Bowl when loudmouth, trash talker Richard Sherman starts flapping his gums. General says loudly that Sherman is a monkey. General walks out or General visits pinball machine headfirst?

There are ways to point out repugnant behaviour without offending other people who have nothing to do with it.But like I said, if you really think that you are lessened as an American or it is central to your world view to be able to call black people 'monkeys' - have at it, brother.

Maybe you should get out more and see that too many teens are acting like monkeys. And maybe you should look inside your own bias and see why you think that only Blacks can be called monkeys.

What ideology? The conservative idea that the freedom we have in this country comes with a price; hard work, respect for the rights of others - their property and their lives, loyalty to our country, sacrifice for the greater good of all, helping those who NEED help, etc.. Liberals don't believe in any of that. Peelowsea said that with 0bama-care people could quite working and paying for their own health care and become artists and s**t like that.

I agree. The liberal horde has created this national disgrace; they know it and they don't want anyone objecting to it. I have seen this coming for thirty years. I have worked with Black men, employed Black men and dealt with Black men all my life. I had no bias against Black men until I joined the Air Force in the late 60s. My dad had worked around and with Black men and he had several Black men that he liked but as I looked back I realized that he didn't respect most of them. My time in the Air Force taught me that no matter how good a friend a Black man is he will side with Blacks that he doesn't know if serious s**t happens that forces a choice. The more our liberal leaders in the dem held Congress forced the military to give Blacks special treatment the worse white Black relations got. In Thailand the Blacks staked out turf and white boys that staggered into the wrong bar got their asses beat or they got cut. A Black boy that cut a white boy while I was there got a month in jail and he lost two stripes.

What racist act has happened that you can link to the conservative base that was not condemned? Pointing out the truth about anything is not racism. You act like conservatives are ignoring the thousands of white teens that are fighting in the malls across the country every day but that isn't happening , , is it?? Do you know of a big fight in a McD's posted on the internet that is white kids? Maybe the white kids don't have cell phones?

You also must know, or have heard and can't bring yourself to believe that poll after polls tells us that Black conceder themselves to be more racist than Whites.

And I'll tell you whats more, watch any of the numerous videos of mobs of White people fighting at Walmart over Black Friday deals and they'll look like monkeys too.

 

I think its pathetic that these people are inflicting violence on one another; Where are* the parents? Where is the accountablility? There is no excuse.

However there are plenty of reasons. I think, as a previous poster mentioned, that these people are trapped. They don't have a sense of self worth, they don't have any rolemodels to speak of. They are bombarded with images of success that they can't relate to, and can't see themselves achieving. They are constantly surrounded by societal decay and apathy.

Its like a bottle under pressure, and this is how it equalizes.

I don't think that pulling back support for social programs will help though. This is a bunch of trapped teens rampaging about something minor and inconsequential. Were it something like food, it would be much, much worse.

PS; If your objective is to discuss the actions of an unruly mob of teens, what caused it and what can be done to avoid it my suggestion would be to leave out the race and the racial slurs. If its truly not important, don't lead in with it.
