    What you posted falls under the category of 'facts'. As Roberts said later in the article, facts don't matter, and he's completely right about that.

    Russia will never win the propaganda war. Putin must, by now, surely realize this. At some point he will quit playing 'Mr. Nice Guy' and act in Russia's best interest.

    From the article you cited:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As I was interviewed about these developments by RT, the news anchor kept trying to confront Washington’s charges with the facts. It is astonishing that the Russian journalists do not understand that facts have nothing to do with it. The Russian journalists, those independent of American bribes, think that facts matter in the disputes about Russian actions. They think that the assaults on civilians by the American supported Ukrainian Nazis is a fact. But, of course no such fact exists in the Western media. In the Western media the Russians, and only the Russians, are responsible for violence in Ukraine.
    Washington’s story line is that it is the evil Putin’s intent on restoring the Soviet Empire that is the cause of the conflict. This media line in the West has no relationship to any facts.
    In my opinion, Russia is in grave danger. Russians are relying on facts, and Washington is relying on propaganda. For Washington, facts are not relevant. Russian voices are small compared to Western voices.
    Well, Borat, maybe it looks silly what I write, let us see what would further happen. But when I discuss something with you, I basically try to find myself what is going on and where is the truth.
    Fair enough but the truth is people with rubles are willing to pay 70 rubles for $1, that's how the market price gets established.
    No, people with Dollars want 70 Rubles for their dollars. The Demand is almost entirely external. Russians don't need dollars for anything. Name one product that Russia is not itself self-sufficient in?
    That's also true, willing buyers and sellers meet at the price of 70 rubles for $1. Claiming that dollar is worthless paper (which is the claim that started this discussion) is absurd if it can be sold for 70 rubles.
    Food, cars, electronics, computers, software, medicine, medical equipment....Should I continue? LOL
    russia primarily exports wheat and fertilizers (which it has in abundance ;) ), it imports pretty much everything else - dairy, meat, seafood, eggs, fruits, vegetables...Technically speaking they can be self-sufficient if they are willing to survive on bread and vodka, which they undoubtedly can. :)
    Russia specializes in high tech products, and right now the US is buying its rocket engine from Russia and it will be buying more at one billion each. Russia doesn't produce 'Walmart', but China does. As long as they have each other they don't need anyone else.
    But Russia can buy all the electronic goods and probably nearly all the industrial equipment they need (or want) from China, which makes nearly all of such things for the entire world. You would be amazed if you realized how many of the world's computer components are manufactured by the gigantic Chinese corporation called Hon Hai. Among other things, Hon Hai is Foxconn, and if you know anything at all about computer components, you know Foxconn: http://www.foxconn.com/index_En.html
    Look, here's the issue right now, and make no mistake -- this is very, very important... if the central bankers decide to cut Russia off from being able to conduct commerce using the SMART system, then the consequences could be much larger than anything we've imagined since World War II.
    People, this is no bull(*)(*)(*)(*). the Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, has flatly stated that if Russia is cut out of SMART, the response will be UNRESTRICTED. In Russian, this word is неограниченный ... and the implications of the use of this word are grave. If the West's central bankers think that Russia is going to sit still and take whatever (*)(*)(*)(*) gets thrown at them is very sadly mistaken. Please see this story: http://rt.com/business/226819-russia-swift-sanctions-response/
    No, I am not predicting nuclear war. But if I were some banker's asskisser in Kiev, I'd be packing my bags, grabbing up my IMF money, and be getting my ass over to Switzerland as soon as possible. The Russians enable someone like Medvedev to prepare the trigger... and then, Vladimir Putin is the man who will pull that trigger....
    Wrong! Russia did import quite a few food products, that's why they put an embargo in place. It has now developed its industries and its independence quite nicely...at the expense of the EU.
    At this point it's really pointless. The Russian Ruble is sending that already 3rd world country into the deepest hole in the world.
    *insert classic soviet deflection here* :)
    As soon as relations start getting better between Russia and Germany, the US comes along with another sanction. This is what is frustrating Russia, because any harsh response by Moscow will hurt the EU first and foremost... and it's exactly what Washington wants. Russia can default on its debt and destroy the German banks, or it can stop the gas flow and destroy Germany's industries. ..but it will also have to give up its dreams of a free trade route from China to Berlin.
    Then again the EU now has Alexis Tsipras of Syriza to deal with, and any sanction has to be agreed upon by all members of the EU. One nice thing about Tsipras, he is one hundred percent Greek. ..and Greece like Russia has its own civilizational code. Tsipras did not go to the elite American prep school Athens College, and he did not go to Harvard...and if anything, this support of Nazis at the expense of Russians is certainly not something he particularly likes. He even wanted to pull Greece out of Nato because of the stance the Baltic nations had taken towards Russia.
    Oh i don't know, European/American stock markets are close to all time high, Russian markets are close to all time low. It kinda tells you which countries' industries perform and which don't... I bet your fairy tales are more accurate than the collective wisdom of stock markets though LOL :D
    Now back to the war in Novorussiya. It seems thousands of Ukrainian troops are being surrounded at Debaltsevo and are desperately trying to escape. Two Novorussiya defense forces have made contact with one another, and are enclosing them in a cauldron. This might account for the frantic activity in Kiev, and the sudden pressure on Russia to close its borders. The big question now is, how will Russia respond.
    This is the first internet report of the two Novorossia forces making contact with one another at any point of the Debaltsevo pocket. It suggests that the Ukrainian forces are now fragmented. The gradual collapse of the Debaltsevo salient may be the reason for the recent frenzy of activity, including the uncoordinated Ukrainian attacks along the entire front, and the Verkhovna Rada declaring Russia to be an "aggressor."
    The Russian economy doesn't really exist. It's 50-60% oil and gas for budget revenue, and that is 75% if you add metals. They import everything. That being said, Russia was always a miserable place where hope went to die and the working class people are used to this. Similar to Americans Russians are brainwashed from birth with vulgar nationalist propaganda. The regime will exploit Russian chauvinism and blame everything on the West and Russians will eat it up. Most Russians do not have any savings at all, and the economy is monopolized by criminal clans with ties to the state and Putin personally. The business class doesn't really exist either. So the sanctions on Russian bureaucrats, credit ratings, are nice but they do not really do anything. The Russian economy was tanking much earlier than Crimea and Putin cleverly exploited the situation. The drop in the oil price is a drop in the ocean for Putin and his money and his clan. Isolated North Korea style economics and politics suits Putin because he plans on staying in power for life.
    However, Russia has a military advantage in nuclear weapons. Pretty amazing I know. They cannot have a confrontation with America and NATO without bombing Kiev and Annexing the Baltic States at least. If NATO deploys Radars and Missiles to Ukraine and the Baltic's then Russia has to capitulate and bend over to Washington because its Air Defence and Radars will turn into scrap metal. Bombing Kiev is easy. Kiev has a pathetic military even by Middle Eastern and African standards. Russia has enough cruise missiles, and rockets to make Ukraine a burning wasteland.
    The Baltics are a little trickier but not really. Americans and NATO understand the situation and have not yet begun to move strategic weapons into Eastern Europe despite the repeated screaming of the Eastern Europeans. Once Kiev is finished Russia will annex the Baltic States or send an ultimatum to the West.The Baltic States have no army they barely have 4 million people and most of their population is over the age of 40 so it is easy pickings. Do you think that the ruling class in the West will go to nuclear war for the friggin Baltic States? Not in a million years and everyone knows this especially with a nuclear disadvantage. Putin will probably have a phone conversation with Obama before the fact and he will tell Obama to withdraw all men and equipment from the Baltics or they will get destroyed it makes little difference really. Obama will be humiliated, NATO will be split and everyone will be happy. America and Europe have their defence industrial complex back and the jobs will be created en masse. Russia has 5000 tactical nukes many of which are modernized. The West barely has a couple of hundred old ones. The Russians can simply blow away NATO armies in Poland and Germany. NATO will do nothing for now at least.
    Here's an article where you can read about Russian nukes.
    North Korea is in town soon, and so the US is backing a useless strategic nation of Ukraine while ignoring the threats A Russian backed N Korea can create in one of the most important economic areas in the world. While at the same time under cutting its position with Iran, and putting its biggest Ally Saudia Arabia in a weaker position. While also forgetting that Russia allows for the supply of US troops in Afghanistan. The Russophobic actions of the west, against their own self interests just shows how ingrained the distrust and hate of Russia goes.
    They are not moving troops into Europe when they really should. The West is defacto at war with Russia this year and American and European zombies should really wake up to the gravity of the situation. Wakey Wakey zombies the party is over.
    Re: Zbigniew Brzezinski
    Rather: That fellow is a filthy Psychopathic War Mongering SOB
    Russia has not made any threats whatsoever to invade the Baltics –
    These supposed threats are clearly a Bald NATO War Mongering Canard, created out
    ....\ of thin air, just like the US Dollar. Created with absolutely NO substance & calculated
    ................................................................ only to ramp up and intensify the present crisis
    Russia only became alarmed at what was happening in the Ukraine after the USA
    sponsored a coup there. A coupe carried out by a mob of Nationalistic Facsist Thugs,
    bought & paid for with 5 Billion Ex Nilo created US FED dollars
    Even then, Russia proposed and worked towards a negotiated settlement, halting the
    ...... separatists as they were victorious and marching to establish & consolidate their
    ............................................................................................................ Independence
    Putin proposed to establish a Federated State that included the provinces of Eastern
    Ukraine & that would guaranteed & protect the rights of the Russian Majority there,
    As those rights were being OVERTLY THREATENED by Fascist powerful elements
    within the Government of the US sponsored Kiev pretenders
    These proposals where rejected out of hand by those installed puppets and Kiev.
    & They instead again moved in Militarily to attack the civilian population in its
    efforts to brutally crush the solidifiying Separatist movement there.
    Who were the IDIOTS who thought for a moment that this would pass unchallenged
    ........................................................................................................... by Russia?
    Anybody who rejects the simple Fact that Russia could-would never allow the
    Co-opting of the Crimea, by Anglo/Amero/Euro alliance must be seen as
    a woefully deluded Fool, with a thoroughly washed Pudding existing between his ears
    The Crimea is and has always been a Keystone in Russia’s defense & national
    interests, which for centuries has always been an integral part of the Russian, nation
    and was only recently given over to the Ukraine in hopes of solidifying and
    & cementing a perminant common and natural Alliance
    Placed into its simplest terms, Ukraine is a divided country because of all of the Russians the Soviet Union settled there. In that respect it is like Texas before it revolted from Mexico Mexico encouraged immigration to settle and develop the area and finally Anglos wanted to be part of the US.
    Putin has said the defeat of the Soviet Union was one of the worst catastrophies of modern times. He wants to restore the old Soviet grandure, and he like many Russians believe Ukraine is part of Russia. It IS Russia which is causing the tragedy. Russia is the aggressor and invader. Some western leaning Ukrainians don't want to be part of Russia. They lean toward the west. ..
    & BTW
    The Ukraine was never a country until its Independence was granted by the Russians in 1991
    A little History for the wolfin
    During the Middle Ages, the area of modern Ukraine was the key center of East Slavic culture, as epitomized
    by the powerful state of Kievan Rus'. -(that means Russian BTW)- Following its fragmentation in the 13th century,
    the territory was contested, ruled and divided by a variety of powers, including Lithuania, Poland, the Ottoman
    Empire, Austro-Hungary, and Russia. A Cossack republic emerged and prospered during the 17th and 18th
    centuries, but Ukraine's territories remained divided until they were consolidated into a Soviet republic in the
    20th century. It became independent in 1991.
    & BTW -
    The Spanish were established in in Texas long before the Yankoid interlopers showed up & took over
    .
    & if the western parts of Ukraine wants to go West - Putin has already agreed to that -
    They will NOT, however be allowed to force those parts that have always been a part
    .................................................................................. of Russia to go along with them
    Especially now that the Anglo/Amero/Euro intents & purposes have been clearly EXPOSED
    You didn't contradict me. I wrote Ukraine has a large Russian population. I could have written that Ukraine has traditionally been part of the Russian culture for centuries. but it doesn't matter. Ukrainians who noticed the growing disparity between their incomes and their Polish neighbors saw a connection with the West.. Ukraine has suffered from graft and cronyism, but many people see an advantage with more western affiliation. Russia under Putin wants Ukraine back in the fold. The issue is national self determination.
