Irate fundamentalist Christian mom: "Stop forcing dinosaurs on kids!"

A user on the parenting forum Mumsnet has been banned for hijacking conversations with complaints about “the dinosaur hoax” and its effects on children, KTRK reports.

Writing under the name “CADministry” — “CAD” being a reference to a Facebook advocacy group to which the writer belongs called “Christians Against Dinosaurs” — the mother began by complaining that “I am getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children.”

“Something needs to be done,” she continued. “The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?”

The complaint is so outlandish at times that many believe it to be a hoax. CADministry wrote, for example, that dinosaurs “lack family values,” and by way of demonstration, recounted an instance at her “children’s school, [in which] several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs) became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face.”

She also claimed to have disowned her sister, who “foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaur toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house, I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children’s former aunt.”

If the group is a hoax, however, it is a convincing one. CADministry has been spreading her gospel in other online forums, and “Christians Against Dinosaurs” has a YouTube channel featuring videos dating back months in which a woman explains how “the dinosaur hoax” has been perpetrated.

“A fossil is not actually a piece of bone,” she says. “It’s actually a bone that was once in the ground that has been filled with limestone, calcium, and other stone-like deposits, so at the end of the day, it’s a rock made out of rocks.”

“So,” she continues, “you have a rock that’s [six-inches long], and you hand it to a paleontologist, who chips away at it until you have something looking like a bone — and that is a fossil.”

She then dumps a cup full of broken shards on the table in front of her, and asks viewers to pretend that they are paleontologist and put those shards back together into whatever they originally were. “If you’re a paleontologist and you want to keep your job,” she says, “you turn that into a brachiosaurus skull.”

Okay, I can see how a Creationist might deny that Man and dinosaurs were separated by millions of years.....

but how do you deny the VERY EXISTANCE of dinosaurs?!?!?!?

She's an idiot....... The evidence for dinosaurs is overwhelming.

 

That only makes deniers deny more. Look at how they are about AGW. They start out with graphs and charts and end up with the fact it was cold outside their house this morning. The definition of fanaticism is to redouble your efforts when you've forgotten what you were fighting for.

Margot, it may well be, but that was not a convincing argument. I've been around enough forums to know that stupid is a bottomless pit whose volume exceeds any mathematical equation, or any quantifiable expression.

 

In a weird way I actually respect this type of Christian the most. She is completely wrong in every way, shape and form, but at least she is wrong because she is being true to biblical scripture. Most Christians just pick and choose the parts they like.

If there was a book out there that I believed was 100% the word of god, I would be following that damn thing to the letter. No shellfish, stoning women, slaughtering non-believers, the whole insane, bronze age lot of crazy ideas.. But that's not what Christians do, which leads me to believe they don't actually read scripture, or they are really just hedging their bets towards a Christian god and not truly faithful.

 

Dinosaurs laid eggs and fossilized nest have been found.. They laid huge numbers of eggs.. At one time there must have bee zillions of dinosaurs with tiny mammals about the size of shrew running around in the underbrush.

 

We agree, but the limits of my stupidity are not in question, the mass or volume of this woman's stupidity are. and that could be very large indeed.

 

Again, they might get away with "No such thang as evolution"...or "It's POSSIBLE that dinosaurs and Man co-existed"......

but how do you say "There is NO SUCH THANG ...as a dinorsaur....it's a hosx."?!?!?

I tend to agree. If someone chooses to label themselves as a believer in a particular religion, then I at least expect them to behave as if they actually believe what they claim to believe.

That's true. The Absolutist Literalist (which often is congruent with Creationist, naturally) is the most HONEST form of "Bible Believer"......they take it ALL as fact and history and "divine declaration."

Now, most make SOME excuse for why they wouldn't support stonings or "No wool-blend clothes" (usually it's "God made a NEW Covenent with Jesus on the scene...so what He said before 'doesn't count' anymore")....but they still stick to everything else.

Keep in mind, we have a Young Earth Creationist on this Forum, who ACTUALLY believes that not just life, or the Earth, but the Entire Universe....is only 6000 years old. Despite the fact that simple astronomy proves that false.

But he's more "committed" to "belief in the Bible" than even some of the other Creationists who try to "fudge" a "day" in Genesis as "millions of years"....so they can believe both the Bible and basic science.

Then there are also the cowardly types....who won't say anything declarative, just troll and pick things apart sematnically.

Personally...I've never heard of such ridiculous verbiage in my life. What about all the oil which was created from their remains? What about all the skeletal remains? What about modern DNA codes and verification?

Oil wasn't created from dinosaur remains. that's just from a stupid oil commercial. Oil is pretty much thought to be from microscopic marine organisms and plants, not dinosaurs.

I think the anti-dinosaur lady is a fraud--she's just pretending to be anti-dinosaur. All the big name creationists (Hamm, Hovind, etc.) are pro-dinosaur.

 

That's the best isn't it? Rates right up there with the tribe that was assigned to clean up and remove any evidence of 40 years in Sinai.

 

Then why does everyone call it fossil fuels....Did muskrat carcasses put it down there.

Take it a step further.....in time....coal turns into diamonds.

 

I wonder what TJ would of done differently if he knew that even over 200 years later, our culture was still being poisoned by religious irrationality....
