Since I'm inclined to think few Christians actually believe what they preach (see, not welcoming death, not acting as though a super-powered judge is watching them 24/7, etc), it's possible then that the vast majority of Christians are actually atheists. Consider, as time moves on, we see churches evolving into bland social clubs. Harmless, and providing a minor community service to the less socially able, and organising possibly lonely and/or bored people into some extra-curricular charity. There is very little religious zeal in most - and I don't consider the hand waving swoons seen in warehouse churches 'religious zeal'. That's just garden variety 'in the zone' sh#t, same as at rock concerts etc. Point: I submit that since very few believe any of it, the few true believers are the dangerous lunatics (of course, other faiths may have higher or lower percentages of true belief). Thoughts?
I agree. And I thank god(I don't care which as they are all the same) this nonsense is finally being watered down to a harmless state. Religion will go the way of the dinosaurs and the neanderthal... it's inevitable!
Few people believe that Truth will set them free. If they understood this, then they would see that Christ was Truth, personified for us in 32AD. They would see that Rev Martin Luther King was a "son-of-God,"... because he stood fast and openly cried out the Truth about Civil Rights, until they killed him, and his people were set free.
Deuteronomy 28:62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the Lord thy God
But you agree that Truth will always rise back for mankind, even if people try to bury it. Right? Truth will resurrect if they attempt to kill it. Correct?
Yeah,... Most people deny Truth exists and they live in worlds they defend with lies they use to support their bad behaviors. This is why few will be saved when the end comes.
Yes. In America, 2/3rds of the abortions are by Christians. Whole Black churches are filled with women accepting Welfare checks to raise bastard kids.
Look after dealing with you here in reality land it should come as no surprise that I'd not be interested in spending eternity with you in fantasy land.
Come on now, Goomba, you know that's just plain silly I'm a raving atheist and I'm neither nihilistic nor debauched. Though .... maybe a little debauched, in a good way .... - - - Updated - - - Would be an interesting exercise to trawl churches with 'believe-o-meter' in hand. I'm pretty sure you'd not see much red zone in the Vatican - - - Updated - - - what the puck? - - - Updated - - - truth is a zombie ! - - - Updated - - - dear Dave, he's been stuck in neutral for so long I don't think there's any hope of a sensible dialog.
I can dig it, and I'm in full agreement. However, I don't believe religion is required for a healthy society. Sometimes it does more harm than good, as you know. Take my own neck of the woods. A region generally known as an 'alternative, greenie, leftist, arty, lesbian-friendly (gay men don't like it so much - too rustic)' type of region. We have one of the lowest rates of pregnancy and alcohol and drug abuse amongst teens of anywhere similar, and much lower than in wealthy urban areas. We have a fairly low rate of divorce and single parent families, too. The dynamics behind why there's a reasonable level of social health here are varied, but not a one is religion. There's precious little of that hereabouts, unless you call yoga religion
I rather think many base their personal theology on what they think is sensible, making the beliefs real, but nonetheless conveniently reasonable.
My question is why do the peaceful, mild religious people insist on proclaiming themselves as Catholic, or Muslim, etc. if they don't follow 99% of what that religion actually entails/believes? These people should make their own spirituality, and help with the efforts to rid the world of the diseases that are organized religions.
83% of people in America identify as Christians, so the abortion percentage by Christians is lower than the percentages of Christians in the general population. Also, not all Christian groups believe that abortion is wrong. http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=90356
agree, it's like believing in your home team even if your home team sucks... they were born into it and just support it cause they were raised that way.... it least with most people
I was born into flared pants and mullet haircuts, but I wear neither of them today. I guess no one told me I'd be tortured for eternity if I chose to demure.
The issue is whether you will accept Truth as the best way to live your life, or try to justify behavior which hurts others. Sexual promiscuity hurts little kids, and Tax payers, and the rate of violent crime. But you want to maintain it while the Facts show the harm. That is wrong, and against the Bible and the Koran, too. That is why you fight against them both.
Ye, it is true. The Gays and the harlots oppose religion because religion opposes sexual promiscuity. The evidence is now Statistical, though. This finally shows the Facts about the kids these people hurt with Child Abuse, and they also cause the Tax payers to support the process of Welfare, which is a machine that "manufactures" fatherless kids by the millions every year. They will never agree with us on this. They will never stop corrupting the kids into sexual behaviors. Sexual corruption, that was the reason the patriarchs, whether Jewish or Muslim, attacked the towns and tribes in the ancient times. Islam was taught to do this in the past, and they are still doing it today. But they will fail. Only the Truth will change the hearts of the promiscuous people back to good behavior when they see the light.
No, the issue is whether you will accept (my version of) truth as the best way to live your life, or try to justify behaviour which hurts others.
