True tolerance is the freedom to discriminate. The government is the only business operator who should not discriminate.
Here is a link to the full text of the law, if anyone is interested. http://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2015/03/27/text-indianas-religious-freedom-law/70539772/ I'd be more than happy to have a civil discussion regarding elements of the law which appear to be discriminatory in nature based upon the text..you know actual evidence within the body of the law as written; rather than hyperbole or anecdotal examples. I've no doubt that most of those railing against it have not even bothered to read it. It's about a 3 minute read. As most threads eventually devolve into the equivalent of chimpanzees throwing feces at one another, I suppose this thread is no different and it is too much to ask to actually read the law.
It's been pointed out that Chuck Schumer, probably next Democrat minority leader, voted for the federal version of RFRA in '93 or so. Maybe he's "evolved" since then. Similarly, it doesn't bode well for Clinton that the left is raging over what her husband signed.
Please go back and read the difference between the federal and the state law and get back to me. Until then you are simply writing from ignorance.
That's the thing, though; gay people don't want straight people to become gay. Homophobes, however, want other people to become homophobes. If it's the recruitment you're worried about, it's pretty clear which side you should be concerned with.
Do you even know what the law is? Doubt it as the hysterical gay mafia has come out against it and the useful idiots come out in force.
the law allows people to discriminate against Gays, Jews, Muslims, Christians, if they can justify it by citing their religious beliefs - - - Updated - - - yes, I know that while Liberals believe Freedom= the right to not be (*)(*)(*)(*)ed with due to one's race, gender, ethnicity, religion, Conservatives believe Freedom= the right to (*)(*)(*)(*) with someone due to their race, gender, ethnicity, religion.
These "parrots" didn't even read the law. They see some people on television holding up signs "Indiana hates gays," and immediately join in. This is the state of American politics.
the supporters of this law are basically saying that they have no problem with a totally discriminatory society. whole villages, towns, cities, can come together and ban Jews, Gays, Blacks, from coming to their restaurants, shops, bars, etc etc. what a scary world they would allow.
What the law is, is an act to amend the Indiana Code concerning civil procedure....meaning it is open to a court's interpretation. A business can still be sued for discrimination, I see no evidence of a "get out of jail free" card written in the language of the law. It is bolstering the 1st Amendment's establishment of the right to freely practice a religion is all the law is doing; the extent of this right remains open to a court's interpretation. People see picketers, read the rhetoric and in the equivalent of a Salem witch hunt, accuse the Indiana legislature of hatred towards the "LGBT" community.
I'm just a jackass. A jackass who is tired of you religionists insisting on enforcing your beliefs onto people who don't believe them. You have NO right to discriminate if you're going to operate a business. Don't like it, don't operate a business, problem solved. Am I getting more and more harsh in my comments? Yes. Because I'm OVER you guys bull(*)(*)(*)(*). I'm OVER hearing your bull(*)(*)(*)(*) excuses, and your attitude that your "religion" entitles you to be a complete (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bag, and treat humans like second class citizens. I'm OVER your sense of superiority and that you're better than those you deem unworthy. Get it right. I AM a jackass. I do not like you nor those like you. And I will absolutely go out of my way to make life as miserable as possible for people like you until you get it into your thick arrogant skulls that you simply cannot behave the way you wish to behave in civilized society. Don't like it, tough.
You must be a militant liberal. No one is entitled to rights unless you agree with them. Good luck with that.
I am not, and your attempt to label me shows how simpleminded you are. You're desperate to force society to conform to your dogma, and panicking because that dogmatic influence is going away. Good. Can't say I'm surprised, religionists tend to be simpleminded sheep who lack the ability to think for themselves.
It's funny how liberals consider a person not wanting to do something someone else wants to force them to do as forcing our desires on them. No one is forcing anything on you. You need to get honest and stop with the lying.
And it's funny how outright bigots don't understand. You have no obligation to do anything for anybody, aside from your minor children if you have them. But if you open a business open to the public, you are open to ALL of the public, and your PERSONAL religious beliefs do not (or at least SHOULD not) enable you to discriminate. If that is a deal breaker for you, don't open a business. Problem solved.
It is difficult to respond to this without being "insulting," because it is so paranoid and ignorant that it warrants insult.
I do not know anything about conservatives but I know several cases where people were forced by the court to surrender to gays demands.
That's the gay mafias narrative though that is already against the law. The Governol has requested clarification since the gay mafia has misconstrued it so clarification will be forthcoming.
