Just like North Korea, Iran will stick with the agreement, right until the time when they will not. Do you trust Ayatollah?

Regardless on how fast Iran is able to enrich Uranium, they have agreed to limit the amount that they will produce. The purpose of the agreement was to increase monitoring of Iran so that they do not produce a nuclear weapon and this by far an away the most important outcome.

The simple fact that we know what Iran is doing and how they are doing it is important. What would be really worrisome is if Iran was enriching and not telling us about it or how they were doing it.

Many folks seem to be of the mindset "Lets just go in and physically prevent Iran from enriching Uranium period".

This is due to one of the "necessary illusions" that "The State" does not want to destroy just yet. This is the truly "sinister" factor in play here.

That we can just go into Iran the way we did in Libya or Iraq is simply not a legitimate analogy. We can not "realistically" just go in and do this.

We did not need permission from Russia to go into Iraq and Libya. We do need permission to go into Iran, or at least Russia's blessing.

Why did we not stop North Korea from making a nuke ? - because things were more complicated due to China. How much more complicated is Iran ?

We have been playing geopolitical cat and mouse with Russia in relation to its strategic interests. Russia had been rather subdued in relation to NATO's advance over the last number of decades.

When Bush pulled out of the Anti Ballistic Missile treaty in 2002, Putin's comment was 'this is a mistake'. The point of not making ABMs is so that some buckaroo does not get the hair brained idea that nuclear war is winnable ... we can shoot ours and then shoot theirs down when they retaliate.

Not only did we pull out of the treaty, we then started putting ABM's (missile defense) on Russian borders in 2007 in Poland and Czechoslovakia. Russia spoke out louder against this but they were still fairly muted. Missile defense is retarded for a number of reasons.

The first is that it is a complete waste of time as these are very easy to counter. It did however force Russia to take counter measures. Thank goodness they did not go so far as to put nukes in space (they did mention this).

If you are worried about Iran getting a nuke, how much more worrisome is it to have a Russian nuke above your head. A nuke not 30 minutes away like one launched from Russia but 30 seconds away. Would that make you sleep better at night.

If Russia was to put ABM's on US borders the Pentagon would go bonkers. Yet, somehow it is ok for us to "Poke the Bear".

I really dislike Putin and Russia in general but, that is no reason to poke them for no good reason. Russia had been fairly lax about protecting its strategic interests but Ukraine was the red line and they said so.

NATO should have never entertained Ukraine's bid to join. Watching the US and European leaders wandering around after crossing that red line being confused at why the Bear would react after being poked as a true joke.

It was just as much of a joke when the Obama Clown went on TV last year whining about the fact that Russia had violated the Short and Intermediate Range nuke treaty. What Obama clown, nor any of the mainstream media clown show did not see fit to mention "all the news that's fit to print" - was that "We Forced them to do it"

How did we think Russia was going to counter ABM's on its border ? Would we not take counter measures. This is disingenuous stupidity x 10. Did we think Russia was going to do nothing ? Just be glad they tempered their response and did not put nukes in space. These short and intermediate range missiles are cruise missiles.

After hibernating for decades, the Bear is taking a more proactive stance in relation to its strategic interests.

Iran is not Crimea but, it is an ally of Russia. Romania is not much of a US strategic interest but they are an ally and part of NATO as of 2004.

If Russia was to mess with Romania we would have something to say about it and it is no different with Iran.

The "necessary Illusion" is that we are the only big kid on the block and we can do what we want without answering to anyone.

That is simply not the case anymore. The Republican congress suggesting that there is some better alternative is just politics. Most of these guys and gals know what the deal is.

Russia could just give nukes to their ally Iran just like we gave nukes to our ally Israel. Just keep poking the Bear.

The issue here is not so much about nukes as it is letting Iran establish normal economic relations. This is what is really up Bibi's crack and I get why he is not happy about this. We are also not liking this as it is against our economic interest.

Unfortunately we decided to poke Russia and start and economic war. Obviously Russia is going to look for new markets "Enter Iran" with a population of 77 million people and lots of oil money and borders Russia via the Caspian Sea.

The best and only realistic option was to get together with Russia and the other P5 UN Security council members (UK, China, France) and have a sit down.

It is what it is. There were no other realistic options. Trying to maintain sanctions ? Good luck with that without Russia and China in on the party.

Key take away: We are no longer the only game in town and we can no longer just do what we like with out consequences.

This necessary illusion needs to be maintained in order to justify the Trillion dollar defense oligopoly.

Why did Obama even bother to announce a deal when a deal doesn't really exist?

Oh, btw, word has it that North Korea has successfully minitiarized a warhead to put atop its ballistic missiles. I wonder how long before that technology will be sold to Iran?

Oh, I almost forgot. NORAD is moving back underground into the Cheyene Mountain complex in order to avoid risk of an EMP detonation.

North Korea did not sign the NPT....Iran did.

As I have stated....if Iran announces it has developed Nuclear Weapons....this will be the end of Iran as it currently exists.

That's not what's going on.....think U.S. Space Command, NORAD, RODS OF GOD, FEL....then you get the picture.

It doesn't take 10 years to outfit a NORAD location.

Besides their are Hidden Secret Military Locations in North America and this means Canada and the U.S. as we fight as an integrated Military.....that are so deep and so protected that direct multiple Nuclear Strikes couldn't effect them.

That makes zero difference. Absolutely zero. Why do you keep making that really bad argument ?

It is like you are in some kind of denial of reality.

A threat is a threat. The reason we do not want rogue nations getting nukes is because we do not want them having nukes. Regardless of whether or not they have signed some paper saying they will not make them.

Is NK having nukes somehow less of a threat because they did not sign a piece of paper saying they would not make them ?

    Stop it.

Not less of a threat....NK just did it legally....sort of.

    Iran did not.

The U.S. military command that scans North America's skies for enemy missiles and aircraft plans to move its communications gear to a Cold War-era mountain bunker, officers said.

The shift to the Cheyenne Mountain base in Colorado is designed to safeguard the command's sensitive sensors and servers from a potential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, military officers said.

If they didn't think an EMP attack was possible NORAD wouldn't have moved its gear back underground.

That may well be except for the fact that Iran is not North Korea.

Iran could be a power house (literally) for the ME.
With potentially all oil being exported, and pure nuclear power (for Iran use and to "export" to neighbours), this could really transform the ME and bring it into... well at least a closer century to us. I think this would be a good thing, potentially securing the ME and making a much better place for the people there - and ultimately us too.

Paranoid? For some reason you don't trust that Iran will not make nukes.
Israel has been telling us that Iran is "close to building nukes" for the last 23 years. I'm not sure who is best to trust in all the cloak and dagger politics, but 23 years of being wrong is not a great statistic to rely on.

Let's not also talk about Israel's Jericho intercontinental ballistic missile shall we.

Because that missile system obviously carries a warhead of jam and marmalade placed there to feed the hundreds of doves of peace in the mirv'ed re-entry vehicles that will be released in a fragrant airburst of tranquility and harmony.

Not important if the amount of uranium enriched is limited.

it does seem odd that Israel's objections about Iran and its fear mongering prognostications, mirror Israeli weapons development almost exactly.

Of course Israel never signed the NNPT, but Iran has. Israel has NEVER submitted to inspection and Iran has.

I have no problem with Israel having nukes or even ICBMs, or that they can sell or give their nuke technology to anyone else on the planet should they so choose.

I do have a problem with the 40 years of Israeli fear mongering about Iran being only months away from having their own nukes. Either the Israeli government relies on incompetent intelligence services, they deliberately lie, need fodder for their continued victimization, or Iran is so incompetent that its taken them 40 years and counting to accomplish a task that Israel (not to mention neo-con intell ) consider a few months long project to completion.

It's not it. Iran long been at the point whereas they can have functioning weapon within months from get go. Its just that there's no reason to give the orders yet.

So put your claim into words.

"We have the right to wipe out any country out, not on the basis of a threat, but on the basis that they violated some law or agreement"

Above is just an example. Please give a coherent and legitimate statement that would then form our policy under which Iran could be attacked.

    Nice deflection from your fantasy.

My point was that there is a long list of reports spanning several decades that all claim that Iran is months away from obtaining a nuclear bomb. To date that has not happened but you dismiss this fact by claiming its simply a decision that they have been holding back "until the right time".

Nothing like covering all the bases.

Yes, it's exactly what I'm saying. Should they decide to have the bomb, have it they will, and no stupid agreement with Obama will prevent them. As for how long it'll take... months is a likelier estimate than years.

I think you are correct. From the outside, it looks as though this agreement which is pending basically assures Iran that they will get what they want. Their leader has stated that publicly.
