With so many people here championing the socialist state and end to capitalism im interested what this utopia has install for me and my future generations.

If our socialists would be kind enough to answer a few questions ive been pondering in regards to his state of pure equality and freedom ......

Can i chose to be a professional golf, tennis player, online gamer and still get paid the same as the doctor right? Even if i suck and/ or never played
How much cocaine, ice, marijuana, alcohol do we get per week?
Do we even need to go to school? If so couldnt we just sleep?
Are super yachts, luxury cars, mansions, planes ect banned or do we all one?
What quality and quantity of food do we get, baked beans or caviar?

While not a comprehensive list of questions, i welcome others to ask our resident socialists their questions so we can see how grand this new utopia would be.

Ever been to or lived in a 'socialist' state? How many socialist states exist in the world today?

Laos is supposed to be a socialist state. I have never seen so much wealth and poverty side by side anywhere. It also has a free market economy where if you can grow or produce it, you can sell it for profit.

There are still many government run enterprises along side private businesses. Vientiane the capital has a population of around 800k with about 560k motor vehicles including motorbikes. It also has some of the best fresh produce I've seen anywhere.

marxism signifies the end of utopianism, there is no utopia under communism

    always happy too!

    yes
    tons
    yep
oh no super banned, we might still keep a few mansions after the upcoming revolution but they would have 40-50 people living in them
mostly we worry about feeding everyone something at all, before improving the quality of food, something capitalists have no concern with

again no utopia, just perpetual class struggle

Nope never been to one, im trapped under the oppression of my own free will.

Centralized planning favoring the elite, everyone else is equally as poor as all communist states are. But just because every know socialist state ends up this way i dont think its what our resident socialist have in mind, pretty sure their dictator will be a kind Jesus like person.

I guess is the socialist state fails to feed...one must learn to feed themselves. Sounds like they've mastered the art of growing cheap healthy food.

So who gets the super yachts and luxury cars? Shared accommodation and struggling for food......umm what sort of an improvement is that? We've never had so much food, sounds like a huge step backwards.

Just research what it means, stop asking people in bias political chat.

Capitalism; People own Industry/People Manage Industry/People Work Industry
Socialism; Government owns Industry/People Manage Industry/People Work Industry
Communism; Government owns Industry/ Government Manage Industry/ Gov. Workers work Industry.

When the Rich own the Government, It won't matter what style you use. The outcome will always be the same.

I know socialism/communism same thing....owns the means of production and we all share the goodies. Im curious about the jobs and goodies we get. I quite like the idea of cruising in my super yacht, then taking the on-board helicopter to my beach front mansion where i drive my Ferrari to the country club for golf and tennis. Then return home for lobster, caviar and fine single malt whisky.

    nobody plain and simple
yes your struggle for food and accommodation, should be the same as the next man, but your pre existing advantages shouldn't determine your ability too secure proper accommodations or food, simply put you and the poorest african share the same kind of bed and same kind of meals, the Alaskan might eat more fish and the chinese might eat more pigs but you will all be fed end of discussion, and the fear of not eating should be banished from human minds

i don't know what you mean by "We've never had so much food" but i can guarantee you, beyond the shadow of a doubt, "overpopulation" is not the cause of world hunger.

Why does it seem like no one understands socialism? Socialism is an economy type, and it is the only one that has ever existed. There are two "pure" forms of economies- communism and capitalism. neither has really ever existed (nor can they). Socialism is every degree in between, however some forms lean towards communism and others towards capitalism. Think of it like a gas gauge where communism=empty and capitalism=full.

This is not to be conflated with democratic socialism and social democracy, which are forms of government.

yes i guess at first that might be the worst case scenario, but I have no pity for a man who says someone he never met must live in 3rd world conditions just so he cannot, in the end we must improve the whole world not single nationalities, countries, races, ethnicities, and most importantly religions

Coming from the standpoint of true utopian communism you would not actually be paid at all. You wouldn't need to be because you'd do it for the love.

As much as is healthy for you. So not very much. Lest you become a burden.

You'll constantly be in school. Yes you can sleep a lot. But you'd miss all the fun.
No not banned. You can book the use and/or contribute to the construction and maintenance.
likely caviar. Though you won't want that. You'll be happy with a tasty and healthy diet.

Happy to answer any more you have. Cheers

I thought you said wanted to find out rather than telling me. Which is it?

Most people don't want one of every item. Do you mind sharing? For example you could have a huge land estate and a super yacht for decades until your bored of it. Then it's given to someone else. That okay?

Actually i do mind sharing my things, would you share your house with strangers i told you to? Now if we're talking a taking a cruise then i share the ship but have my own personal cabin for a duration i pay for.

So in socialism utopia we have to share everything, dont get wages but get some sort of food our master approves of while having as much drugs as we like?

Given the practicalities we could give each family permanent accommodations to prosper and provide their children in. Same goes for in ships where you can have your own space. But you wouldn't be paying. You'd be allocated your space according to your needs.

The master is yourself. Food of all kinds will be provided what more could you want? A mountain of candy to gorge on? A constant pizza supply to kill your kids with? That doesn't work here and now either.

I think black harvest already mentioned it but Marx wasn't a utopian. I think he was a pretty hard-headed sort of bloke. And again from black harvest, as Marx proved, society is all about class struggle. No classes, no conflict.

The strawmen that come out when socialism is discussed give me terrible hay fever. Before you critique something please try to have at least a modicum of understanding and you'll avoid accidental strawmen. Of course if it's deliberate then there's not much point in discussion.
