And yet, they are still stuck in a situation where they need money and debt. What a shocker... austerity literally did nothing except destroy their economy. It's what austerity does. All from some fallacious view of debt by people who have no clue what they are talking about. You have dudes equating monetary systems to lemonade stands, lol. It's embarrassing the lack of education throughout the world when there is so much information available for all to see. Absolutely embarrassing.
For the hundredth time, there was very, very little real 'austerity' in the austerity plan. They were not required to collect more taxes, they were not required to raise more money (as in really raise it) and they didn't reform anything. They spent all their time looking for the next loan...they ran out of other peoples money. Austerity might have done something if there had been any....
That chart is nonsense...were pensions cut? Did the civil service take serious pay cuts? Did they raise as in collect more taxes? No to all. They shuffled money around, made some minor cuts and lived on the loans of others. Just how much of the total budget was loan income? did that go down?
Austerity Effects... TIMBERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! - - - Updated - - - So a chart showing less government spending is "nonsense" when talking about government spending. Lmao!!! Can't write better comedy.
That is not 'austerity' but the result of the world wide great recession....and how much of that was a real reduction in employment in the public sector and how much simply rearranging how they count (like the White House does when they cut)..And the chart is years old. - - - Updated - - - The dig up actual data, not bogus charts, that covers real numbers for 2012, 2013, 2014 and this year...
So the government spending less, reducing public sector employment is not "austerity"? Lmao!!!! What?
The chart goes from the height of the good times (the crash) until 3 years ago. The lions share of any folk let go were part timers whose contracts were not renewed...most actual civil servants 'fired' actually retired and got their pensions.. http://greece.greekreporter.com/2014/07/21/greek-public-sector-employees-reduced-by-267-095/ So, you blame 'austerity' for what was mostly the world wide recession plus the movement of a small number of actual civil servants from work to pension.... I posted the actual differences between 2012 and 2015 many posts ago and the actual reduction in actual spending was under 4%, well under....
You defy common sense. We are all just trying to help you out. Your circular illogical thinking has you believing your own hype. You seem to be so involved with yourself you can't see what is right in front of you. It is no wonder Greece is in the state its in. They think just like you do.
This stuff just makes me laugh. They tried their hardest to force Greece to get in better financial situation by forcing spending cuts, reducing their credit, etc... all to make their debt burden become less... and then in return you get this... Their debt burden is even worse than before the austerity measures, lol. It's funny how the entire problem revolves around debt accumulated by central banks and has nothing to do with actual productivity, employment, and growth. All over some weird misunderstanding of debt and monetary systems. How the IMF could mess up this spectacularly is amazing!! - - - Updated - - - To me, running a country like a lemonade stand is defying common sense. Not going to lie.
Once again, because the 'austerity' was almost entirely in the name with very little real austerity at all aside from job losses caused by the world wide great recession and not any program of austerity...look at the last 3 years and you see about zip spending cuts.
Yikes, they cut almost 15% of their public sector employees in a span of 2 years. How anyone can say they have not did any austerity measures is mind boggling... lol. - - - Updated - - - They're spending less now than they did in 2004 and there is "very little austerity"... lmao!!! Dude, you cannot honestly be serious with this, haha. It's kind of funny, but I'm beginning to think you are just trolling.
Giggles, how hard is this to understand. The claim is that th evil 'austerity' program caused massive government sector unemployment. What really happened was that the world wide recession did to Greece what it did to every other nation, caused job loss. The jobs lost were overwhelmingly part time employees. The full time employees who were let go almost entirely traded a pay check for a government pension and since the end of the great recession, when 'austerity' had kicked in government spending stayed pretty much the same since 2012-2013 and so did government employment. You blame austerity for a world wide recession. Its convenient but simply not true. Re-posting bogus and old charts simply does not make your case. It is like giving credit to the New deal for the American recovery from the great depression from 1941-1945 and forgetting to mention WWII.
You gotta be pretty out there to claim there is no austerity in Greece, lmao. A reduction in nominal government spending to a level from over a decade ago is austerity. Regardless of the world recession, regardless of pensions, regardless of taxes, it is austerity. This is what austerity looks like...
And up pops the same bogus chart and refusal to credit the great recession for the job cuts...missed the point entirely
Greece raised taxes, they cut government spending by over 20%, they cut government employment by over 15%... yet they haven't done any austerity measures... lmao!!! Comedy gold at its finest! - - - Updated - - - Austerity is a reduction in government. A chart showing a reduction in government spending is a chart showing austerity... regardless of your reasons why they cut spending, haha. You have to be joking by now.
Lol, definitely no austerity going on in Greece. Yikes!! I didn't even realize how deep their cuts were. That's crazy getting to 30% cuts. We tried 20% cuts in 1937 and that failed instantly, no surprise here though. Austerity destroys economies. That's pretty much the point of it.
Yep, definitely no austerity in Greece... it looks like any other country, lmao!! Except for that huge drop in government spending. I wonder why everyone is talking about austerity in Greece, makes no sense. This graph does not show austerity at all. Looks like the exact same path Australia took!
And a history of the 1940's in Greece without mentioning WWII is a crap history...so is your refusal to acknowledge the real cause for what personnel costs there were... Here is a time line to help you visualize the problem... As of may of last year Greece still has more than 550,000 public sector employees out of a total workforce of a bit more then 3 million...The country simply cannot keep that up. Wages alone eat 27% of total government spending.
Good, now they can leave. 1 down. Now who will be next? Italy? Spain? Will Britain vote itself out? It shall unravel from here.
The more I look into this 'Austerity' BS the more bogus I find it. They claim job losses due to recession, they claim job losses that led to pensions, they claim 'cuts' that are so small they could be considered rounding errors. They lament part time jobs gone for years as though they happened recently. It is all fantasy papered over with bad charts and refusals to note the real problem. Greece does not collect taxes, does not consider employment and pension reforms, and requires a constant infusion of new money from outside the country, money they have no intention of ever paying back, to survive. They seem to think they are entitled to other folks money....madness.
Good thing in the USA we did not elect another fiscally irresponsible GOP clown like Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2. Clinton managed to get us on solid footing after 16 years of Reagan and Bush , spending like princesses with credit cards, only to have Bush II take increase the deficit from near zero to an astounding 1.4 Trillion.
The level of dishonesty in your posts is crazy. Austerity is a reduction in government spending for whatever reason. In this case you blame it on a recession even though every other country in the world other than some select Euro countries still were increasing government spending during the recession. So obviously the recession did not cause Greece's government to have to reduce the size of their government. It was the austerity measures put in place. Please stop being dishonest. Thanks.
