At what point do you consider aborting a child murder?

Everyone seems to have differing opinions.

When the baby develops a brain? (10 weeks)
When the baby has a heartbeat? (12 weeks)
When they begin to make facial expressions? (14 weeks)

Or is there no limit? As in, as long as the baby is in there, it isn't 'alive' (whatever your definition of alive is)? At 39 weeks you could cut the baby out and toss it on the ground cause technically it's not alive? Like the one chick who aborted her third child in the back seat, even though it made it to the hospital and lived for half an hour outside the womb?

What is the cut off point for you to be okay with abortion?

To me, 10 weeks is about where I think it becomes weird and borderline murder. That's 2 1/2 months, at minimum 4-6 weeks to make a decision.

What say you? When is it an abortion and when is it murder?

So at 9 weeks, 6 days....it is NOT "weird and borderline murder"?

Why not use the Bible as the standard? A baby isn't alive in the soul enters its body with its first breath.

I think it's weird once you know your pregnant. I understand things come up though (rape and financial issues).

I think it's borderline murder once a heartbeat is detected. I don't know anything on this planet that has a heartbeat that isn't alive.

Assuming a life threatening issue for the mother, anytime. In case of rape. anytime. When you can test for major birth defects which is generally early on.

Otherwise using abortion as birth control is sick.

Allow a reasonable period of time after pregnancy is determined, say a month, and then allow abortion only in extreme circumstances such as the health of the mother, tests that establish the fetus will not survive or will be so severely damaged as to require lifelong institutionalization. Since abortions would be allowed for a period after diagnosis, this would allow for rape. Essentially this practice should mean that abortion will occur in the first trimester or not at all unless there are compelling reasons such as the health of the mother.

ALL pregnancies compromise the health of women.

And why do you consider abortion due to rape NOT murder if you believe abortion is murder?

    Okay....revise the question.....

At 8 weeks, it's not "weird and borderline murder"?

So your 10 weeks line was meaningless?

You won't get many replies as your title would only relate to a very, very small number of people .. no one I know is "pro-abortion"

Like most people who are against abortion after the 1st trimester you haven't really researched the topic on a legal basis.

For me, none of the milestones he's made up make any sense.

So, ignoring those, I'm not against abortion being carried out at any stage of the pregnancy.

I know very late abortions are rare because they're not wanted, not because the law forbids them.

I think the law and politicians should stay out of what is a medical matter.

    No not at all.

I'm all for a couple of decide to abort if they so choose (notice I didn't say the mother).

And while I think it's disgusting to abort a child, I still believe in your right make that choice.

I'm interested in finding out people's opinions, and why.

And while I think it's murder, I can see why some would disagree.

So you believe the man should be able to FORCE the woman to have an abortion or keep the baby....you don't believe women should have a right to decide for themselves.

No, I believe they both have to agree to make a decision. It took two to make it, it takes two to end it.

If the woman doesn't want it, she can give it up for adoption.

20-24 weeks I think is a reasonable amount of time to decide if you want an elective abortion, but should complications arise down the road then abortion is still okay with me up to the point of birth if necessary. Murder isn't even part of the conversation until after birth has happened.

    - - - Updated - - -

It may take two to get pregnant, but only one person will actually be pregnant. That's why the woman gets to choose during that period of time.

Only one body is involved in a pregnancy.

It isn't possible to give up a pregnancy for adoption.

But at the same time, its not just HER child. I know, personally, males who would wanted their child, but because the female didn't feel like having it, she just aborted it.

I agree, it is her body. But it is not solely HER child (unless IV). I don't care what the law says, the baby is someone's child.

There also, in my mind, needs to be some form of personal responsibility when dealing with children. America is the land of 'its not my fault', where you can blame any problem you have on, almost literally, anything else but yourself.

Yes, the CHILD may be both of theirs but the FETUS isn't. It is ONLY inside the woman's body. NO one should have the right to force her to abort or go through pregnancy.

There IS personal responsibility dealing with CHILDREN......children have nothing to do with abortion.

I agree, it is her body. But it is not solely HER child (unless IV). I don't care what the law says, the baby is someone's child.

Other then raising a child properly, having an abortion when you know you can't is dealing with the problem as much as any of the other solutions. I believe individuals do have a right to pursue life, even if we've made that right up with all the others, but that right does not start until one is actually an individual and that can't happen until birth because individuals don't live inside other individuals. Until that point there is one person, the woman, who is pregnant with what will one day become another person.

I'd prefer unwanted pregnancies not happen as would most pro-choicers I assume, and pro-lifers too, but I know that they're going to anyway despite my best hopes and my ability to wag a finger at women for getting pregnant. If I could wave my wand and get rid of all the circumstances that lead a woman to consider abortion, I would. Sometimes I wave my hands in the air for various outcomes on various issues just in case I do have a wand and it's just invisible and intangible. No luck yet though. So until such time as people stop making mistakes or being in tough situations, I'd rather they have the tools to deal with those situations, including abortion, because it's simply not my place to tell a woman her body must endure a pregnancy because I've allowed my hubris to fool me into thinking my wants and desires should have any impact on the inside of another person's body. Birth is the line in the sand for me, the most definitive one in a person's life other than death because birth is the beginning of an individual and death is the end of one.

Because she didn't want to go through pregnancy and childbirth. It isn't possible for a man to take that over.

It's not a baby yet, so is nobody's child.

    That's another argument.

Actually the heart starts beating at only 6 weeks.
The brain develops over a longer period of time. Neural electrical activity can be detected as early as 6-7 weeks, though at this stage it is far from a fully functional brain.
At what stage the fetus's mind actually comes into being is a subject of debate, but probably does not happen all at once. Some would even contend that even a newborn baby does not possess true "consciousness", whatever that is.

According to science, since the progressives love to quote science so much to refute Biblical scripture.

The life cycle of a human being begins during the process of conception. There is no singular moment, but it is a process wherein 50% of the DNA of the male combines with 50% of the DNA of the female and creates a distinct and separate human being, or beings as it were.

We are becoming human as this process develops. We are no less human during this proces than we are now, according to science. It is law that is defining when we are human by saying this begins after we're able to feel pain or are viable outside of the womb. Science says we are human at conception...the life cycle begins at this time.

I say we define when life starts by using Science...not law. Law is subjective.

Of course we're human at conception ....but we are not A human.

The law s are in place for a reason, science doesn't make our laws.

However, IF science, or anything else, deems the fetus a "person" then it has all the rights AND RESTRICTIONS of A human.
One of those restrictions is that it cannot harm another without their consent. If the woman with draws consent to pregnancy there is one avenue open, abortion.
