Hello folks, I am standing with Trump right now, and against FOX News. Looking forward to reading, learning, and debating with this community. I have had a long journey from being an enlightened liberal who relied on NPR to using FOX News as conservative training wheels, to being a Drudge and multi media consumer who views FOX News as biased lefty media. The only journey to be had goes to the right.
It looks like we have a pretty diverse group of people here. I have been reading a lot of stuff here, trying to catch up a little with the community.
Seems Trump and Fox have made up. So seeing as that is and never was a national issue. I am sad that you even bothered to mention it. Picking a president and picking a news show to watch are not even in the same league. So, what is it that you like about Trump?
Fox is starting to get a bit full of themselves as of late. It's certainly a noble goal to achieve high viewer ratings, but when your only goal is to get high ratings, you are no longer a real news channel, imo. That I fear, is what is starting to happen to Fox. Welcome aboard, by the way.
Welcome. There are many here who get their information, beliefs and worldview from Fox and sources like it. That's what makes it so much fun.
I sure wish I could post like everybody else around here. It takes days to get a moderator to authorize my posts before they show up, so what you are reading here probably was written days ago.
Well I'll be. That post showed up right away, so I guess I am free to communicate! Thanks all for checking out my introduction post. As for Fox News, they were really great for me when I first began to wake up from my deep liberal sleep. NPR was really great when I was a liberal, and Drudge, Mark Levin, and M Savage are great for where I am now.
Welcome to the forum. I was about to climb on the Trump bandwagon until he made his remark about McCain and that turned me completely off him as it did a lot of other Vietnam Vets. Now there are a lot of people on this forum who defend Trump for saying what he did. Mostly the younger ones. But for us Vietnam vets we were left with the impression that if you are military and get caught by the enemy and become a POW, he does not care about you one iota and probably would do nothing to get you back. Shame on you for becoming a POW. That hit a raw nerve and it was all that was talked about at our last VFW meeting. Be that as it may, I am sure you will enjoy it here. Welcome aboard.
I was anti-Vietnam from the start. And, the thing is that troops did not set that policy - they executed it to the best of human possibility. So, I may disagree with McCain on most stuff, but his service has to be given huge respect. After the jet he was in blew up on the aircraft carrier deck he ran toward the fire to try to save others. After recovery, he opted for one of the most dangerous jobs the airforce ha to offer. He flew his jet in the face of enemy fire to carry out his mission, knoiwing full well that he could be downed like so many others who flew with him. His refusal to give info left him so beat that his captors ignored him as he would surely die. When offered an early out, he refused to return home ahead of others even though being in life crippling condition. And, the main point? He didn't have to do ANY of that to deserve my full respect or that of the playboy who thinks he knows about leadership.
I think Trump had a ton of stuff to attack McCain on considering his record as a senator. Bashing him as a POW was uncalled for. If Trump didn't like what McCain said about him and his supporters, hit him hard on some of the bad decisions he made in the senate. Call him a senile old SOB that should have retired a million years ago or something akin to that. The way I feel is when you're playing the political game going for the nomination, keep it in the political arena. Do not denigrate our POW's. As for Vietnam, there are some days I wake up knowing it didn't have to end the way it did. There are other days I wake up knowing that end was inevitable. But I guess that is normal. It was so long ago, but then at times it seems like it was yesterday.
I am a Vet as well, but a younger generation. I served in the sand during desert storm, and saw horrific things. I frowned on Trump's comments on McCain, but I was far more insulted as a Vet by the comments that McCain made towards Vets when he called so many of us crazies. I was also appalled at how there was no outrage from the media or GOP about McCain's insult to such a great number of vets. I was not impressed with Trump's blunder, but McCain's comments hit a lot deeper since we are talking about a Vet insulting another Vet.
Welcome! Glad to see another Trump supporter here. If you need any help dealing with these liberal Obama apologists, just let me know.
McCain started it by calling Trump supporters (among them veterans) "crazies" so he asked for it. Besides, he lost to Obama for walking on eggshells around him. We don't care what McCain thinks or if he gets offended.
For you Vietnam vets out there who served before me, I am really disappointed at how soon the new generations have FORGOTTEN. To those MIA, I am so sorry, hardly anybody remembers you. I thank you, and will never forget. On another car, I have tribute to POW and MIA, and as you can see I am not afraid to decorate a car. One of my favorite messages on that car is "Live free, or die". I like to live by this as a tribute to those who have paid the ultimate price for it.
Thank you for the welcome. Although we may not be for the same candidate, I am glad to see you have the freedom as a voter to select your candidate. I hope none of us ever lose that. My conflict with Fox News is that I perceived that they were trying to interfere with our choice as voters by eliminating their least favorite candidate. I understand that there are conflicting opinions about Fox's role in this matter, but I personally smell something fishy. Either way, I love to see people express their opinions freely, even if they are not the same as mine. Thanks again for the welcome.
Thanks! Good to see another CA Trump supporter. Looks like I will need to fill in my profile for my location and what not, so people can see where I am from too.
You're right. It seems like they're in the tank for Bush, but the backlash they got for those ambush questions have given them pause.
Welcome Evmetro....Hope you enjoy it here. Trump? Heck ya!!! Anyone that can withstand that much PC B.S has my vote!
Apparently you and other Trump defenders do not care one iota about our POW's and are willing to just forget them if they happen to get captured under a Trump Presidency. That was the mood about Trump at my last VFW meeting and a lot of Vietnam Vets put him in the Clinton class of draft dodgers. I don't know about other VFW posts and member, but ours want nothing to do with someone who is willing to throw POWs under the bus just to make a few political points. Trump has lost the Vietnam Veteran vote denigrating POWs.
I haven't picked a horse yet in this race. I am a member of the Reform party, a small third party. But here in Georgia we have open primaries and one can choose whether to vote in the Republican or Democratic one. We are just registered to vote, no party affiliation. I think there is a certain segment of the Republican Party who are angry at the Republican Establishment and their leaders that are business as usual types. That do not seem to be fighting for their core values. Trump is just another one to catch or tap into that discontent. At the beginning of the year Paul was their man. Paul more of a libertarian and anti-establishment, not a run of the mill business as usual Republican. Then Carson caught fire and became their darling, he is not a politician and has not ran for anything. Bright man. Today it is Trump and if he falters and falls like Paul and Carson, I think they have Forina waiting in the wings for them to jump onto her bandwagon like they did Paul, Carson and now trump. All of these have the same thing in common. Forina is rising, from 2% to 7% in the latest polls. Just an observation.
