After citing some real numbers. and comparing radical islam to naziism, Shilling was was suspended by the same network that gave "Caitlyn" Jenner its Courage Award, instead of a vet who lost an arm and a leg in combat, who now competes in Special Olympic events: ESPN: Radical Islam Fine by Us Courageous Curt Schilling is now suspended ESPN, the champion of Caitlyn Jenner and purveyor of the gay kiss seen round the world, has a real issue with anyone taking aim at violent Islamic extremism. Even with facts. The entertainment and sports network, owned jointly by The Walt Disney Co. and the Manhattan-based Hearst Corp., publisher of Cosmopolitan and O, The Oprah Mgazine, promptly suspended a former major league pitcher over a tweet that compared Muslims to Nazi-era Germans. Only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. Howd that go? the tweet said, which wasnt actually written by famed pitcher Curt Schilling. He simply retweeted a meme, adding his own text: The math is staggering when you get the true #s. Although he quickly deleted the tweet, it was too late. The PC police were on the way. ESPN, which gave Bruce Caitlyn Jenner its Arthur Ashe Courage award (instead of star athlete Noah Galloway, who lost an arm and a leg in a roadside bomb attack in Iraq and who now competes in marathons and ran the 58-hour Death Race), was swift with the sword. Curts tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our companys perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration, the network said. Schilling, in an attempt to save his paycheck, immediately acquiesced. I understand and accept my suspension. 100% my fault. Bad choices have bad consequences and this was a bad decision in every way on my part, he tweeted to his 133,000 followers Wednesday on Twitter. Most interesting was the discussion that never happened: The comparison of radical Islamists to Nazis is backed by fact. Heres why: There were about six million official members of the Nazi Party in 1940 about 8 percent of the population then of Germany. Using PolitiFacts loose definition, about 19 percent of Islamists worldwide, some 182 million, are radicalized. Author Ben Shapiro, who uses a much more stringent definition of radicalized, puts the number at more than 800 million, about 80 percent of Muslims. But either way, fact. http://www.lifezette.com/lifezette/espn-radical-islam-fine-by-us/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, no one is allowed to speak negatively about our BARBARIC ENEMIES, the radical islamists, in PC world, which clearly includes ESPN. This is another example of ridiculous eschewing of the facts, and dodging the topic, so that no one gets "offended", in the case the savages of ISIS, etal. Makes absolutely NO SENSE WHATSOEVER....
I remember when ESPN first started....for the most part they showed nothing but black people beating the crap out of each other in the ring in Totowa, NJ. Now every household with cable TV or satellite service pays them $5 a month whether you watch them or not. They are the most expensive programming provider out there.
There's a fine line between saying something as an individual and saything something as a representative of an entity. Clearly, Schilling was expressing his personal views and should not be construed as representative of his employer, ESPN. ESPN counters with damage control, essentially disavowing any connection, just in case a few might infer Schilling's comment represented their views as well. It's a business decision.
Oh no, a few angry internet bigots aren't going to watch the LLWS... how will ESPN pay the bills now???
It just happend, But I am sure there are more people who will be pissed and spot watching, then Extremist Muslims who watch Sports Center.
MOD EDIT - Rule 3 They have by far the largest market share and their name is synonymous with sport entertainment in the US. They're worth upwards of 40+ Billion and are in partnership with a few companies you may have heard of... ABC and Disney. MOD EDIT - Rule 3
oh the righteous one here. ESPN is for low information people. Almost all of the hosts can't even speak proper English.
What exactly is the point the quote/meme? Did we wipe out all the Germans or did we wipe out the Nazi's?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Seriously can't make this stuff up. I'm sure ESPN is very sorry to have lost your business. - - - Updated - - - MOD EDIT - Rule 5
it happened 2 days ago..... even if it does affect it... it won't be showing up today.... My ESPN days were officially ended with Michael Sam then BRUCE Jenner side show for the courage award.... not schilling's issue. But everyone's line in the sand is in a different spot..... BRUCE Jenner may not have ended some, but Schilling issue does.... or the next time a conservative valued person is canned, while lefties can say "as a black athlete, you are high profile, hire yourself a fall guy" and it's glossed over, ESPN will continue to lose more and more.
ESPN has sucked for years. Their only mission now is to promote black athletes. 55 minutes of basketball talk, 4 minutes of baseball, and 1 minute of hockey. If Tiger isn't in contention they never mention golf. Good riddance to them. I stopped watching years ago when the whole network wanted to blow Stuart Scott
When it comes to politics, ESPN has always been incredibly PC and Liberal. That goes for most Sports "Journalists". It is no surprise that they would not be critical or allow critical comments of Radical Islam.
Who sat through the Michael Sam, and the Bruce Jenner BS to only now be offended and leave? Many of us moved on awhile ago, sorry Curt.
Yes lets pretend that ESPN only show such things /face palm Shilling spoke the truth since when is the truth bigotry?
