A a straight male, I have zero attraction to Caitlyn Jenner.

Even if she didn't have big man hands and wasn't taller than me, I still wouldn't be attracted to her.

Even if political orientation is a factor for some people, Caitlyn Jenner is a conservative.

as I said, I was not attracted to the person before surgery, why would I be after?

you seem to think the body changes the person, that is not the case, the person inside the body is the same regardless

so now will you answer my question? "here is a question for you, if the love of your life was in a car accident and the only way to save him\her was to put their brain in the body of the opposite gender... would you still love them the same?"

Just like everything else, they'll find a loophole so they don't have to follow the same standard they push on the rest of us. Nevermind the fact that being born male is the only reason Caitlyn Jenner "isn't their type."

    MOD EDIT - Rule 3

Why would anyone find that more impressive than the fact that he is a proclaimed woman?

Actually that's not completely true. People can change quite radically based on how others perceive them. An incredibly beautiful woman that has a horribly disfiguring accident would not be the same person after. At least, not in all sense of the meaning.

inside she would be the same person, you may see her differently because of her looks on the outside though, not saying many of us don' judge a book by it's cover... but this is your loved one, the love of your life we're talking about, you already know them... you have already read the book

He/she, depending on your choice, is a staunch conservative/neoconservative. Therefore, he/she should be embraced by fellow conservatives/neoconservatives.

What I'm saying is that people's self perception and behavior is based to a degree on how others perceive and treat them.

If my wife's brain were placed into a mans body I would certainly still love her, though I don't see how there could ever be a sexual relationship after that. It would be like living with your best friend I suppose. I would still want to be around her. In a weird way I'm glad you asked that, I guess it means I truly do love her.

He is just the next Kardasian media stunt fraud. He's not going to have the surgery. He has $100 million. If he wanted SRS it would have been done already.

Maybe he's still in bidding wars for the rights to film the procedure.

For an extra $5 million Cloey will consume the byproduct.

No, I would not knowingly date a transgender. While I do have a knack for being able to tell compared to other people I've been around, I'm sure I could be fooled until things became intimate. I feel bad for them that gender reassignment is not complete enough to make me want to date them, but I wouldn't date somebody because I feel bad for them. If I unknowingly dated a transgender and found out right before sex or something, I'd probably be mostly disappointed, and feel bad that I have to disappoint them too. Maybe if I were more bisexual or less shallow I could date them.

That said, if they want to be as close to becoming the opposite gender as is possible, and that makes them happier, I see no reason to have a problem with it.

She's to freaking old to date.
So no, have absolutely no reason to ever want to date a transgender. Despite my thinking it is their right to do so.
Are some so naive that to support one's rights means they would like to do or relate the same? NO. People should just mind their own.

And yet you, RWer started the thread. Clearly, clearly, not a LW issue.

Because it's dumb questions. Irrelevant even.

That must be foreign to RWers. They must not tolerate anything unless they themselves would do same. A concept foreign to me.
They do seem really really intent on making everyone live like they live. Boring.

    Who does?

You apparently fail to know that mentioning something does not necessarily constitute approval.

Except maybe to a 5 year old with no cognitive thinking skills or ability to reason.

Nobody has a problem with them doing anything. It's the "in-your-face" media whoring that people don't want to see.

Because your OP question implicitly assumes that just because you have tolerance for how others want to live you must therefore adopt them as your own.

I couldn't care less whether someone wants to change their sex. Or if they are gay. That is their business. That doesn't mean that I have to adopt their views.

You seem, like many conservatives, to be unable to separate tolerance for approval or adoption.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Deep down, they don't really believe Caitlyn Jenner is a woman just like any other. That's just the talking point they use to further the LGBT agenda. When it came down to it, they couldn't get over the fact that she would have a penis but for a sex reassignment surgery. It would keep them from considering her a potential partner. But they'll get around saying any of that, like you said, by claiming they're not attracted to this particular woman.

One person did say they would date an attractive transgender, but I would wager that's just the ideology talking. When faced with that decision in real life, I'm betting on it not happening. Straight men don't want to date men who disguise themselves as women.

Again, you're not addressing the point I made in the OP. I was asking progressives whether they would be willing to date Caitlyn Jenner, or by extension, other "women" who were born as men.
