Those who rally against multiculturalism should just admit that they want a White Christian nation.

I would disagree with that. Switzerland, as it is in many things, seems to be an exception to the rule. I think in a broader historical sense, different cultures under the same polity don't sit well together unless they are being oppressed. I believe that historically, empire is the most common form of government for that very reason. Certainly in Iraq Sunni, Shia, and Christian got along just fine when there was a brutal dictator with his boot on their necks. Once that boot was removed however...

I think the former Yugoslavia is a more typical example than Switzerland.

Actually there are no other successful "confederations" around, but Switzerland [which has anyway adopted a federal institutional system].

But I was just saying that: different culture cannot cohabit or integrate, if one of the cultures doesn't become or isn't dominant. Cases in which different cultures merge to form an "over-culture" are quite rare in history. Perhaps Anglo-Saxon culture was a kind of mix [with some British and Celtic ingredients].

History shows that many tribes like those in the Northeast welcomed the Mayflower and enabled them to survive. It also shows that Taino Indians treated Columbus and the others like family before the Europeans betrayed them and committed genocide.

For 300 years Spanish was the majority language in North America.
If those people who rail against multiculturalism don't like what they are seeing today, they are free to go back to Europe.

    Foolish.

There are two possibilities with multiculturalism:

    1) the conservative American idea where we accept all cultures, but those people choose to identify themselves as an American first and then retain some vestiges of their former culture or nationality. This is sometimes called the "melting pot".

    2) the liberal American idea where we accept all cultures, but those people prefer to keep their original culture or nationality as their primary identity and becoming an American is secondary. They tend to think of themselves (for example) as a "Saudi Muslim living in America". This is sometimes referred to as the "salad bowl" concept.

    Guess which method works better?

I've certainly noticed that those who have issues with social interaction in general aren't too keen on this multi-culti business.

    It's obviously not for misfits.

Although there are only 70,000 Muslims, the population is also about 1% Christian. Yet, as the saying goes in Japan, one is born Buddhist, raised Christian, and dies Shinto.

Spanish, Creole, Japanese, Korean, etc. I know a person, graduated from Texas A&M, whose parents came here by boat after the Vietnam War, born in Texas, Speaks Vietnamese, one or two local dialects, English, and Spanish. Her Spanish is very good and is a ESL teacher for the Fort Worth ISD. And she also has the traditional Texas southern drawl too when she wants to.

And if you can prove someone is plotting to kill Americans, by all means charge them.

Unless its too late, because they dropped a bomb at the finish line of a Marathon. Or, they took over planes and crashed them into a city or our capital. Charging them at that point didn't really accomplish anything did it?

There's this little thing called preemptive action. Its why we lock our doors. Its why you protect a pool with a fence when you have children, or cover your electric outlets so they can't stick something in there. I know self preservation is a foreign concept for some, but it doesn't hurt to play it safe, does it? All it takes is 1. If 1 single "immigrant" kills a bunch of people, it proves it was a mistake, because we have complete and total control over who gets in and out of our country. Because we're lax and irresponsible about it, doesn't mean we can't do a better job.

Do you let anyone babysit your children or do you snatch up a homeless guy and give him the job?

It's not just Obama, or just the Democrat's, it's the entire government doing it.

There are many people on the watch list- irrespective of political parties. What they look for is threats to the government, anti-capitalists, states-rights and gun-rights activists, and any others whose actions or ideas may- directly or indirectly- interfere with whatever they are doing or planning.

Terrorism is a charge that is used rather loosely these days...
